Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "The Carol Burnett Show" often spoofed old movies, but never more successfully than "Went With the Wind." As Scarlett O'Hara, Carol descended a staircase in a dress made from green curtains, rod included. Who was waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs?

Answer: Harvey Korman

When complimented on the dress, Scarlett replies, "I saw it in the window and I just couldn't resist." Bob Mackie, who was responsible for much of Carol's wardrobe on the show, designed the dress, including the best part - the curtain rod across the shoulders.
2. When "Rhoda" finally got married, a number of cast members from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" guest-starred. Which one of them was responsible for getting Rhoda to the wedding but forgot?

Answer: Phyllis

Given how much Phyllis and Rhoda fought, maybe it wasn't an accident that Phyllis forgot! Rhoda couldn't get a cab, so she had to take the Subway in her wedding dress.
3. In the final episode of "Magnum, P.I.," Rick got married (or maybe not). Who was his best man?

Answer: TC

Rick waits until just before the wedding to tell Thomas that he's picked TC as his best man. Thomas doesn't really mind - he's decided to rejoin the U.S. Navy and has just discovered that his daughter, Lily, is alive. At the end of the episode, Rick seems unable to say "I do," so we don't know if he actually got married.
4. On "Designing Women," what celebrity came to Charlene in a dream right before she had her baby?

Answer: Dolly Parton

It turns out that Dolly is baby Olivia's "guardian movie star." Charlene was overjoyed.
5. In one episode of "M*A*S*H," a mad prankster is afoot in the camp. One prank involved filling Frank Burns' foxhole with water and someone yelling "Air raid. Air raid." (An assistant prankster did the yelling.) Who was the lead prankster?

Answer: BJ

Sidney was visiting the camp for a little rest and described the MASH-ers in a letter to "Sigmund" (Freud, we assume). While in the swamp, he hears the running water and is surprised to find BJ with a hose in his hand, filling the foxhole. Sidney is the one to sound the alarm, waking up Frank and sending him into a watery pit.
6. For many years, AJ and Rick Simon ("Simon and Simon") believed that their father had died in a car accident. They later discovered that this was a government cover-up. What really killed Dad Simon?

Answer: Radiation poisoning from accidental exposure

While trying to save lives after a car accident, Dad Simon was exposed to a lethal dose of radiation. (One of the vehicles involved was a government truck transporting radioactive material.) During the long months of seclusion leading up to his death, he kept a diary, which the boys and their mother finally saw many years later.
7. Ron Howard's father, Rance, is an actor is his own right. You've probably seen him in a number of his son's movies, but he also had a reccuring role as the father of a main character on what science fiction show?

Answer: Babylon 5

Rance Howard played David Sheridan, father of Babylon 5's Captain John Sheridan. Many times you can find Rance in his son's movies - it seems Ron believes in nepotism. His brother, mother, and father all had roles in Apollo 13. His brother was part of the Houston command team, Jean (his mother) played Jim Lovell's mother, while Rance played a minister comforting the Lovell family.
8. On "Dallas," we know who shot JR - Kristin Shepard. But what finally happened to Kristin?

Answer: Drowned in a pool

She drowned in the pool at Southfork. She left behind a baby that Bobby and Pam eventually adopted.
9. Dr. Stephen Hawking was a guest-star on "Star Trek: The Next Generation." What was he doing?

Answer: Playing poker with Data

Set on the holodeck, the scene also included Albert Einstein and Sir Isaac Newton.
10. Carolyn Jones played Morticia on "The Addams Family," but she also occasionally played what other member of the family?

Answer: Ophelia

Blond Cousin Ophelia literally grew flowers in her hair. (Cleopatra was Morticia's man-eating plant.)
