Starting Leg 9, six teams departed from the Villa Trapp in Salzburg, Germany and were told to begin the leg by boarding a train through the Austrian Alps to Fedkirch, a train station on the country's border. Here, they would need to take a taxi into the Principality of Liechtenstein where they would find their next clue box waiting inside the country's border crossing (in Schaanwald).

This is where Gary and Mallory, who arrived at the previous Pit Stop in last place, located their Speed Bump task which required that they mix gas and oil properly to fill the tank of the bike used for their next task.

Answer: 22 km

Arriving in Schaanwald, teams found a Road Block clue instructing one member to hop onto a motorized bike and ride it across Liechtenstein, a distance of twenty-two kilometers from their starting point to their finishing point, using nothing more than a map for guidance. Justin, Flight Time, Jen, Jet, Vyxsin, and Gary all took a ride through this small region and made their way to the end where they were told to write the distance on their odometer on the back of a postcard before heading to their teammates waiting in the Castle Gutenberg. Racers not correctly guessing the amount would be forced to drive back to the start and try again.

Answer: Zev and Justin

After the Road Block, teams were told to take another train, this time to the city of Zermatt, Switzerland, where they would be able to collect their next clue outside the city's railway station. This would be the leg's Detour task requiring that teams choose either 'Cheese' or 'Wheeze'.

In 'Cheese', teams traveled to a local restaurant and were told to eat a full, hot pot of cheese fondue before they would collect their next clue inside a new fondue pot. Only Zev and Justin forced their way through this filling task. Everyone else chose 'Wheeze' in which they needed to collect and deliver twenty pieces of luggage found in the train station to (at least) five different hotels in the city (on foot).

When they returned their receipts they would be able to receive their clue.

After the Detour, teams were informed that they would need to make their way very quickly to the Hinterdorf near Inderbinen-Brunnen as a Double U-Turn would be available for them. While many teams opted not to use this race mechanic, it was Flight Time and Big Easy who decided to U-Turn Jet and Cord, forcing them to complete the 'Cheese' Detour task which they had decided to avoid earlier in the leg.

After reaching the U-Turn, teams headed to the Pit Stop. No one else used the second slot on the Double U-Turn board.

Answer: Jet and Cord

Teams found the Pit Stop waiting at Moos Restaurant in Zermatt overlooking the Swiss Alps. Zev and Justin were the first team to arrive at this Pit Stop (for a second consecutive leg) taking their fourth win of the race. For this leg they won themselves a trip for two to Curacao courtesy of Travelocity (who else?).

As the other teams checked in, it was Jet and Cord, who faltered at the Road Block and were tasked with completing a second Detour task, who arrived in last place. They became the sixth team eliminated from the race.

Answer: The Matterhorn

In the beginning of Leg 10, teams opened clues outside Moos Restaurant in Zermatt informing them that they would be heading into the unknown. With heavy snow falling in the city, they were simply told to make their way to the Rescue Helicopter Port in Zermatt to sign up for one of five charter helicopters leaving five minutes after one another.

In the morning, they discovered that they would be choosing to complete a task in the shadow of the mighty Matterhorn, one of the most famous Alpine peaks.

Answer: Gary and Mallory

In the 'Rescue' side of the Detour, Flight Time and Big Easy, Kent and Vyxsin, and Kisha and Jen all opted to head to one of the Matterhorn's dangerous ice chasms to rescue mountaineers trapped inside. Using a winch/pulley system one member was lowered into the chasm where they could latch onto their stranded mountaineer while they other would use the system to pull them back out. Once their mountaineer was back at the surface, he would give them their next clue taking them off the mountain.

Answer: Avalanche beacon

Flying up to the Matterhorn, Gary and Mallory and Zev and Justin both decided to head to a smooth mountainside to search the snows for mannequins hidden under the deep snow. Using avalanche beacons, both teams needed to locate their bodies and use shovels to dig several feet deep. Once they had brought their respective bodies to the surface (together or in pieces) they would be able to return to the helicopter with their next clue.

This proved to be a trying task with the windy weather conditions at play.

After completing the Detour, teams flew to a Riffelalp ski resort to continue on foot.

Answer: Chocolate

Taking a train from Riffelalp back to Zermatt, teams were told to find their next clue box waiting outside Le Petit Cervin. Here, teams located the Road Block for this leg which required team members to head inside and create a giant chocolate statuette of the Travelocity Roaming Gnome.

This included painting a mold with chocolate and letting it dry in a freezer then, when this was done to perfection, filling the mold with hot chocolate and letting it freeze outside in the Swiss snow for a half hour.

When teams retrieved it and put finishing touches on their gnomes they were able to collect their next clue. Vyxsin, Flight Time, Jen, Mallory, and Zev completed this.

Answer: Kent and Vyxsin

Heading out from the Road Block, teams were instructed to travel on foot through Zermatt to the tenth Pit Stop of the race, a rustic Swiss cabin at the intersection of Mürini and Mittagstadel. Flight Time and Big Easy claimed their second win of the race giving them a trip for two to the Cook Islands from Travelocity.
While Zev and Justin fell behind at the Detour, they were able to catch up to Kent and Vyxsin who fell to last after a thirty minute penalty (for taking a cab to the Pit Stop). As a result, Kent and Vyxsin's fatal flaw made them the seventh team eliminated from the race.
