Andrea had been sent by her editor to dig the dirt on the liberal Sun Hill regime of Superintendent Adam Okaro. She was carried to safety by DI Neil Manson, after she was left unconscious in a pub explosion. He gave her a lift home the following day and they kissed outside her flat, which lead to a romance between the two.
