The Sanctuary was located in an old, abandoned factory likely situated somewhere in Virginia. The Sanctuary became the operational base for the Saviors, and its location was kept secret from Rick's group for some time. The Saviors organization was first introduced in season 6 of "The Walking Dead," and they served as the primary adversaries to Rick's group throughout seasons 7 and 8.

Sasha was taken prisoner when she snuck into the Sanctuary to kill Negan, and she was kept in a cell for a time.

Though the Saviors made themselves rich by extorting from others, they also had a marketplace amongst themselves within the Sanctuary itself where they could wait in line to purchase items with the "points" they earned from their jobs. They also managed a certain amount of self-sustaining with gardens and chickens. Dwight was shown watching TV in the Sanctuary and Eugene played video games there, so it was clear they had power.

Dwight is shown playing air hockey with Laura, another Lieutenant of the Saviors, in "The Cell." The Sanctuary had numerous vehicles, including motorcycles and trucks. Negan kept a harem of "wives" there, including Dwight's wife Sherry. There is no indication the community had a school, however, and few children are depicted among the residents.

Answer: Impaled walkers

The Saviors impale walkers on the fence line as an additional deterrent. Handling the walkers and working in the "yard" with them seems to be used as a punishment and a reminder of what might happen to people who fail to tow the line.

The Saviors do not have an outpost at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

The Satellite Outpost (located by an old satellite in a communication facility) is used to extort the Hilltop. The Alexandrians kill several Saviors in their sleep there, only to learn the group is much bigger than they imagined, that the Satellite is not their main camp, and that Negan is not at the outpost.

The Chemical Plant Outpost is led by Gavin, situated near the Kingdom, and used to extort that community.

The Bullet Factory Outpost is located in an old machine shop and is lead by Eugene Porter after he pledges his fidelity to the Saviors. There, Eugene oversees the manufacture of bullets.

The Saviors also have an outpost in an old slaughterhouse, where Maggie and Carol are kept temporarily captive and end up slaughtering Negan's lieutenant Paula and other Saviors to escape. Another outpost, led by Regina, is located in the Shepherd Office Plaza. That's where Daryl and Rick encounter Morales and discover the baby Grace, who becomes Aaron's daughter.

The Sanctuary makes its first appearance in season 7, episode 3, "The Cell," after Daryl has been taken and imprisoned in a cell. The scene opens on Dwight playing air hockey, watching TV, and going to the market place to snag some bread, which he uses to make a dog food sandwich to feed to Daryl in his cell.

Shane and Merle both died several seasons before the war against the Saviors. Simon was killed by Negan before the war was over. After the war, the Saviors returned to the Sanctuary, and Rick put Daryl in charge of running the place, which he did for several months.

In season 9, Daryl is shown working to convert the motorcycles to run on ethanol and making ethanol out of corn, which was the primary crop they grew there.

After the war with the Saviors, Carol eventually took over the duty of running the Sanctuary to give Daryl a break. It is unclear how long she governed there, but one of the Saviors who defects from the coalition of communities later comes across her and calls her "boss lady."

Lori died before the group ever encountered the Saviors. Sherry was in Negan's harem but escaped, and Sasha died before Rick's group took over the Sanctuary.

Daryl let Dwight go after the war, instead of exacting his revenge on him, and Dwight left in search of his wife Sherry, who escaped the Sanctuary before the war was over. He does not settle in one of the coalition communities, and as of Season 10, his whereabouts were unknown.

Alden became a blacksmith at the Hilltop and eventually established a romantic relationship with Enid. Laura became a trusted member of Alexandria and eventually even served on its council. D.J. also became a trusted member of Alexandria, though he ended up decapitated by the Whisperers.

The Saviors had supplied the Sanctuary largely by extortion. So when the coalition tried to keep the Sanctuary running after the war, it was difficult to make a go of it. Those Saviors that remained integrated into the other communities.

When Negan escaped and returned to the Sanctuary, he found it completely abandoned and overgrown with weeds. The main room was also trashed and partially flooded.

Simon was killed by Negan and Dwight went off on his own. Beta was a member of the Whisperers, not the Saviors. Jed formed a group of several ex-Saviors who became raiders.

At one point, Jed's group stops Carol and Henry on the road and robs them, including taking Carol's engagement ring. Carol responds by locating their camp at night, pouring gasoline on them, and setting them all on fire.

But later, in Season 9, episode 16, "The Storm," the group of Kingdom refugees, led by Ezekiel, Michonne, Daryl, and Carol, go to seek sanctuary in the Sanctuary in the midst of the storm. They find it to be run down, decide they can't continue to wait out the storm there (lest they run out of supplies) and press on.
