Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Forgiveness and Stuff"- When Rory suggests a new doll for the part of baby Jesus, she is told that the current doll had been used since what year?

Answer: 1965

The poor doll was missing an arm, and Rory could not locate it inside the box. It turned out that the missing arm was in a dog's mouth.
2. "Forgiveness and Stuff"- We hear Dean's new nickname in this episode, given to him because he and Rory fell asleep inside Miss Patty's. What is that new nickname?

Answer: Narcolepsy Boy

Narcolepsy is a disorder in which people fall into deep spontaneous sleep for brief periods of time. He and Rory had been in Miss Patty's reading, but fell asleep and spent the entire night there.
3. "Forgiveness and Stuff"- Rory tells Lane the different Christmas presents she'd already purchased. Which of these is NOT one she mentioned?

Answer: Lee Press-On Nails for Lorelai

"The Metamorphosis" is a novel by Franz Kafka, but Lane suggests that Rory rethink her gift. She explained that the giver (Rory) should consider what the receiver (Dean) will think of the gift, not what the giver thinks of the gift. If Michel is into Salsa, I missed it in season one, but it does not surprise me.
4. "Forgiveness and Stuff"- Emily Gilmore uninvited Lorelai to her annual Christmas dinner.

Answer: True

When Lorelai explained to her mother that she wouldn't be able to make cocktails before dinner, Emily told her not to bother coming at all. Lorelai asked if that meant she was uninvited and Emily said yes, and to just sent Rory. The two were still tense with each other after Emily witnessed Rory come home at 5:30 am in the previous episode.
5. "Paris Is Burning"- At the start of the episode, Rory and Lorelai encounter a pet fair. You could adopt abandoned pets right there on the lawn. Which pet did Lorelai consider taking home?

Answer: Buttercup- a dog

Skippy was actually the hamster that Lorelai neglected in years past. She allowed the cage to become nasty and finally returned Skippy to the pet store without letting anyone know who left him there! Buttercup was a small dog of mixed breeding. Her lineage included Cocker spaniel, Golden Retriever, Rottweiler, and Bouvier des Flandres. I find that hard to believe because that dog was smaller than any of the mentioned breeds.

A Bouvier is very large, very intelligent, and very aggressive toward strangers. I have a friend who raises Bouviers. Rory was able to use the Skippy story to talk Lorelai out of taking Buttercup, whose name she said would have had to change.
6. "Paris Is Burning"- Paris saw Lorelai kissing Mr. Medina at Chilton on Parents Day.

Answer: True

The entire school had been discussing the nasty divorce of Paris' parents, so she took this opportunity to shift all the focus off of her and onto Rory. Later, Rory explains to Paris how awful it was that she did to Mr. Medina what had been done to her. She also told Paris that is she ever wanted to talk, Rory would be there for her.
Liza Weil plays Paris Geller. Liza was in "Stir of Echoes" and "Dragonfly", and had guest spots on the TV series "ER" in seasons 6 and 8.
7. "Paris Is Burning"- When Sookie asks Jackson out for dinner, what item had he just brought for her to stuff and fry?

Answer: squash blossoms

He'd tried to pawn of his new invention of zucchini butts earlier, but she had no interest in those. So, later he makes amends with squash blossoms. I have the same squash blossoms in my own garden in the summer, maybe I should stuff and fry those.
When Sookie asks Jackson to dinner, he looks so happy and accepts. They do not make that date happen, though, until the next episode.
8. "Double Date"- Were there two double dates in this episode?

Answer: Yes

The first double date was the fix-up of Lane and Dean's buddy Todd. Unfortunately, Lane did not enjoy the date. She found out Todd was not too smart, and her mother caught her in the act of leaving the movie. Lane was grounded for a long time, and not allowed to leave her house except for church and school. Sookie arranged the double date for her and Lorelai.

She finally got her nerve up to ask Jackson to dinner, but he had his cousin Rune staying with him. So, without asking, Sookie said Lorelai could go to keep Rune company. Rune was not happy when he saw Lorelai.

He found her too large for him. First she was too tall, then her feet too big, and finally he commented that it would take a lot of powder for her nose. Max Perlich played the miserable Rune. Max can also be seen in guest roles on TV's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Charmed", as well as in the movies "Blow" and "Sol Goode".
9. "Double Date"- What was Lorelai's problem at the inn?

Answer: it was overbooked

Michel informed her that it was overbooked, so she offered a solution. She said to give the extra guests the Jefferson suite, and then move them back to their regular room the next day. She said that could have a free meal for their inconvenience.
10. "Double Date"- Finish the Lorelai quote: "I have to know where you are at all times, especially when you __________."

Answer: have my shoes on

Lorelai was really upset when Lane's mother found her at Luke's and confronted her about the whereabouts of their daughters. This quote came after Lorelai found Rory and was escorting her home.
