Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ford states that he created Bernard in order to better catalogue which of these?

Answer: Human emotions

Ford brings Bernard back online and the host immediately recalls that he murdered Theresa. Ford is thrilled since Bernard's emotions are what he set out to achieve. He created Bernard because human engineers could not grasp the shades of grey between emotions. Bernard says that he loved Theresa, but Ford says that her sacrifice is worth protecting Westworld and all the work they've done. Ford stops Bernard from attacking him; he tells Bernard what he must do and that he must clean up their mess.

When he finishes, he will free him of his memories with Theresa and save him from the pain he feels.
2. What prevents hosts from leaving Westworld?

Answer: Explosives

In the Mariposa, Maeve watches as a new host of Clementine seduces a Sweetwater newcomer. The new host asks her if anything's wrong, but she doesn't respond, instead recalling her memories of a past life in which she and her daughter wandered the fields.

She later tells Felix and Sylvester about this in the lab and they explain her mind works differently; she recalls memories perfectly, almost reliving them. She vows that she will get out, but she needs their help to remove her internal fail-safe-- an explosive in her spine designed to prevent her from leaving the park.

She also decides to allow herself the ability to control other hosts. William and Dolores continue on horseback, finding their way to the edge of the river to find a massacre. William believes that the people of the ghost nation have found them. One man, barely alive, reveals that they were part of the ambush and while William wants to leave, Dolores won't go until he's dead.

When Dolores heads to the river to get some water though, she hallucinates, seeing her own body floating in the river.
3. Where is Theresa's body found?

Answer: In the park

Theresa's body is found and Ford, Ashley, and Charlotte discuss her untimely end. Found at the bottom of a ravine, she is assumed to have slipped and fell. Along with her body, the materials for a satellite uplink were found. Charlotte says that it's all quite unlike Theresa considering her carefulness and loyalty. Ford, meanwhile, says that he shall be pulling back the reins on QA's influence in the coding since there was clear indication that their earlier investigation into Clementine's code was a hoax.

He will also be reinstating Bernard as Head of Behaviour. Felix and Sylvester need to send Maeve back when the workers in the lab get word that things are tightening up. Maeve asks them about Arnold-- a name she knows from her dormant code.

She also says that she has a few sophisticated changes in code she needs done. Outside the lab, Sylvester suggests that they tamper with her to get out of the situation.
4. Recalling past events, Teddy remembers the Man in Black attacking who of these?

Answer: Dolores

Teddy and the Man in Black continue on horseback, inevitably coming across bodies along their path. Amongst them is a woman, bound and beaten, who looks familiar to the Man in Black. She says that Wyatt's men came through. The Man in Black continues along until a man dressed in heavy furs and a horned helmet emerges from the trees to attack.

They manage to subdue and kill this attacker, but in the process, Teddy remembers the Man in Black dragging Dolores off to the barn many days before. He knocks him out with his gun when he's able. Felix and Sylvester wheel Maeve into the Behaviour labs on a slab as she directs them to the station they need. Felix informs her that she will need to be shut down and she accepts this.

His hand wavers over the 'Reformat' button.
5. When Sylvester tries to have Maeve killed in the labs, she turns the knife on him instead.

Answer: True

Charlotte finds Lee working on the latest narrative and they discuss Theresa's untimely death. Charlotte lets it slip that Theresa was working on a very important project for the board at Delos and leaves it at that. Ford, as it would seem, has entrusted Lee with a new villain for the latest narrative, but Charlotte says it's all busywork as the narrative is virtually done.

Instead, she says, she has a real job for him. In the labs, Felix and Sylvester continue to discuss the possibilities as Maeve awakens on the table. Felix, as it seems, tinkered with her core code.

She grabs a scalpel and makes a swift incision on Sylvester's neck, nearly fatally wounding him. She tells Felix they'll probably need him as he cauterizes the wound. They will need to proceed, she says, with building her army.
6. The upgrades to Maeve's coding allow her to do which of these things?

Answer: Control other hosts

Maeve awakens in Sweetwater and proceeds to walk to work at the Mariposa. As she listens to the player piano she begins to talk to Clementine and the bartender, narrating their very stories as they happen before her eyes. She's doing this to make sure the narrative plays out on time; she's expecting Hector's arrival at the precise moment. Sure enough, the heist at the Mariposa begins without fail. Maeve walks out to meet them and suggests to the Sheriff that he sees Hector and his gang as upright, moral citizens.

She then turns the marshals on each other. The safe is pulled out of Sweetwater without any real opposition standing in the way.
7. Who killed Elsie?

Answer: Bernard

Ford thanks Bernard for the work he's done with Theresa and suggests that they move forward on their new narrative. Bernard isn't sure whether or not the feelings he has for his history are real, and he struggles to determine if he is simply life-like or alive; his pain should be real. Ford says that these are the questions that consumed Arnold, but Ford feels that there is no point at which people are fully alive because consciousness does not exist.

They all live in loops contentedly. Bernard asks Ford if he's ever hurt anybody else before, and while Ford says no...as he begins to erase Bernard's memories...he remembers Elsie in the theatre.
8. Who comes across Dolores and William as they depart from the religious structure in the desert?

Answer: Logan

Dolores and William continue on their path through the desert until they reach their destination; Dolores says she's home. She walks down and finds a small town, remembering when it was once populated by many people. Behaviourial techs would teach the citizens how to dance; the church bells would ring.

She remembers as the townspeople were killed in a massacre. William has to chase after her, outside her hallucination, and remove a gun from her temple. She looks around and finds that the town does not exist.

Instead, a small, religious structure stands in the open desert. She says that this is what Arnold wants though; he wants her to remember. William suggests that they get away from the place. That night, as they continue to walk, a scouting party comes across them walking down the trails.

At its head is Logan, and behind them are the Confederatos.
9. Which host is used in a plot to smuggle data from Westworld?

Answer: Abernathy

In the storage levels of the lab, Charlotte and Lee wander through the mob of decommissioned hosts and select the old host of Abernathy to upload their code into. She tasks him with figuring out a way to get Abernathy on the train and out of the park.
Up in the labs, Ashley tracks down Bernard for a talk. Ashley says that he's glad Bernard is back at work as his dismissal was short-sighted. He gives his condolences for Theresa-- though Bernard explains that he never really knew her all too well-- and asks after Elsie, who is still expected to be on vacation leave.
Teddy tends to the girl uncovered from Wyatt's attack as the Man in Black awakens to find himself tied up. The Man in Black commends him for remembering as Teddy lays into him with his fists. The Man in Black reveals who he really is-- a philanthropist, a husband, a father, and a titan of industry. But last year his wife died overdosing on the wrong pills. He had to prove his family wrong and come back to Westworld because it would show who he really was. He had come back to Westworld and started his own narrative off the beaten path...and it involved a homesteader and her daughter.
10. When, according to the Man in Black, did the maze first reveal itself to him?

Answer: When he killed Maeve

Maeve, having a drink in the Mariposa, suggests to Clementine that she's finally getting out of Sweetwater. As she leaves, she hears gunshots behind her. She falls into a hallucination, seeing herself and her daughter, and she doesn't realize as she attacks Clementine, slitting her throat in the street.
The Man in Black, sought to discover whether or not he was truly capable of evil, and when he headed to Maeve's house and killed her and her daughter in cold blood just to see how he felt, he found that he felt nothing. That was when, in a moment, Maeve carried her daughter outside the house and the maze revealed itself to the Man in Black for the first time. He says that it's Arnold's game, and that's the game he seeks to play.
Maeve is pursued through the streets and she convinces another host to cause a gunfight to hide her escape. She races back to her apartment as a team from command is sent to retrieve her. Looking into the mirror she remembers the labs. She remembers Bernard and Ford and their decisions to sort out her fragmented programming. As Ford plays Debussy to calm her, Bernard sits her down. Ford erases her memory and suggests that she be placed into a new role...but she remembers instead stabbing into her neck with a scalpel. The techs from the labs enter her apartment and reclaim her.
The Man in Black says that the maze is all that matters now. He'll pursue it even if it kills him. The girl from the attack tells Teddy to kill him since he's worse than Wyatt's men, but Teddy can't pull the trigger. When he can't do it, the girl suggests that she can help, and as she plunges an arrow into Teddy's chest, she says that Wyatt needs him and that he will need to return to the fold.
