Dax the symbiont had been joined with seven other Trills prior to joining with Jadzia. They are, in order: Lela, Tobin, Emony, Audrid, Torias, Joran, and Curzon. In a later season, Jadzia dies and the new Trill host of Dax is named Ezri.

This is Krax's only appearance in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".

Jaro hoped to overthrow the Bajoran provisional government and be the new government's leader. The plot was foiled when it was learned that the Cardassians, through the Kressari, were supplying The Circle with arms in the hope of driving the Federation off DS9 and Bajor.

In the mirror world, Odo is the sadistic, human-hating overseer of the ore-processing plant. When Bashir shoots him with a phaser, Odo explodes in a splatter of goo.

This is the first of five episodes in "Star Trek: DS9" that touches the mirror universe. The others are: "Through the Looking Glass," "Shattered Mirror," "Resurrection," and "The Emperor's New Cloak."

Quark learned about Klingon honor, politics and economics in this season three episode.
