1. "Welcome to the Hellmouth": When Buffy first goes into the library, Giles shows her a book. What is the title?

Answer: Vampyr

Buffy goes to the library looking for a History text. She thought that she had left her slaying behind in LA, so when Giles shows her this book, she freaks and runs out.

2. "The Harvest": Luke says that the last time he lost a fight was in 1843. But in which city?

Answer: Madrid

Master: "A Slayer! Have you any proof?"
Luke: "Only that she fought me, and yet lives."
Master: "Hmm, very nearly proof enough. I can't remember the last time that happened."
Luke: "1843. Madrid. He caught me sleeping."

3. "The Witch": What kind of art display is on at Joyce's gallery?

Answer: Tribal

When Buffy gets home from school, the kitchen is full of crates for Joyce's 'Tribal Art Display'. Joyce is struggling to open one of the crates with a crowbar, before Buffy steps in and calmly rips the lid off with her bare hands.

Herbert the pig has foam tusks and foam spikes on his back, to represent a Razorback. He is eaten by Xander and the other hyena-possessed students.

Whilst defending Buffy from 'The Three', Angel is cut on the chest with an iron bar. When he removes his shirt so that Buffy can dress the wound, she comments on the tattoo - a Griffin sat on top of the letter 'A'. A griffin (or gryphon) is a mystical animal with the head/wings of an eagle, but a body of a lion. There is a talking one in "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe".

Willow has a crush on Giles, but we don't find this out until season four's "Where the Wild Things Are", when she says of Giles, "no wonder I used to have such a crush on him in high school".

This episode features a scene during the credits in which Buffy, Xander and Willow perform a piece from the play "Oedipus Rex". In the play, Oedipus fulfills a tragic prophecy by unknowingly murdering his own father and sleeping with his mother, Jocasta. Buffy plays Jocasta, Xander plays Oedipus, and Willow plays the Priest of Zeus.

I'm sure everyone has had this nightmare - a test that you know nothing about, and know none of the answers to. Between Buffy looking at the clock as she sits down, and looking again a few seconds later, the whole period has passed, and she hasn't answered any of the questions.
