Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which rabbit was the titular character in a series of educational computer games aimed at a young audience?

Answer: Reader Rabbit

Created by The Learning Company, Reader Rabbit has been in many of their educational games since 1986. While The Learning Company creates games for infants to the end of primary school, Reader Rabbit only stars in games for children up to Year 2 (ie. second grade).

As his name suggests, Reader Rabbit originally helped children to learn about reading and spelling, but has since been used in other areas of learning, not just literacy.
2. One of the 'Star Fox' series' most famous catchphrases is, "Do a barrel roll!". But which character is responsible for saying this phrase?

Answer: Peppy Hare

Peppy Hare has appeared in 'Star Fox' games since the very beginning, and was part of Fox McCloud's father's team before he was kidnapped. Joining forces with the new Star Fox team, Peppy provides useful advice during their space adventures, most famously to "do a barrel roll" in his Arwing to avoid incoming fire.

In 'Star Fox: Assault', Peppy Hare steps down from his active piloting role and provides tactical advice from the Great Fox, with Krystal taking over his original role.
3. The hyperactive, clumsy, slightly mad Rabbids were initially affiliated with which video game character?

Answer: Rayman

First appearing in 'Rayman Raving Rabbids', the Rabbids kidnapped Rayman and held him prisoner. In order to escape, Rayman had to complete many minigames which would reward him with plungers. When he had enough, he could use the plunger and create a makeshift ladder to escape from his prison.

While the game didn't receive 'raving' reviews, it did go on to be a stand-alone series, separate from its original 'Rayman' series.
4. Buneary, and its evolution Lopunny, are Normal-type Pokemon first appearing in which games?

Answer: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

In the Generation IV games 'Pokemon Diamond' and 'Pokemon Pearl', Buneary is a fairly common Pokemon in the Eterna Forest of Sinnoh. In 'Pokemon Platinum', however, it doesn't appear as much. When Buneary's happiness reaches a high enough level, it will evolve into Lopunny. This is the only way to obtain Lopunny, as they cannot be found in the wild.
5. Cream the Rabbit is the leporid friend of which 'speedy' video game character?

Answer: Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic meets Cream the Rabbit and her mother, Vanilla the Rabbit, in 'Sonic Advance 2'. Cream is accompanied by Cheese, her Chao (a small pet). Cream later appears in 'Sonic Heroes' where she is searching for Cheese's lost sibling, Chocola. More recently, Cream made an appearance in the Nintendo DS version of 'Sonic Colours'. She didn't feature in the Wii version of this game, though.
6. Featuring in several games in the 'Silent Hill' series is which spooky rabbit?

Answer: Robbie the Rabbit

In 'Silent Hill 3', Robbie the Rabbit can be found several times in the Lakeside Amusement Park, where he is usually slumped over and covered in blood. Robbie appears again in 'Silent Hill 4: The Room' and 'Silent Hill: Homecoming' as a doll. Robbie does not pose a threat in the games he appears in, but rather serves as a way of unnerving the player.

His wide eyes, cold stare, and blood-stained mouth are reminiscent of horror films from yesteryear.
7. One of the PlayStation's most unique titles was 'Vib-Ribbon', which used music to create distinct levels. Who was the rabbit mascot of the game?

Answer: Vibri

'Vib-Ribbon' employed an effective method of creating levels based on music by loading the game onto the PlayStation's RAM, allowing the game disc to be removed and replaced with a music CD. The game would then analyse the chosen song, and create a level based around it, in which Vibri would have to surmount various obstacles in time with the music.
8. MIPS the rabbit was a character in which Nintendo 64 title, who, if caught, rewarded the player with a star?

Answer: Super Mario 64

MIPS appears twice in 'Super Mario 64', in the basement area of Peach's castle. He runs away when Mario approaches, and Mario must chase him down to retrieve a Power Star. When Mario has acquired 50 stars, MIPS reappears, and can be chased down again for a second star.

The character of MIPS was created during tests for the console, and was put into 'Super Mario 64' because of his popularity with the developers. The name MIPS stems from the CPU of the Nintendo 64 (a Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipeline Stages).
9. Bianca is a character featured in games alongside which reptilian PlayStation character?

Answer: Spyro the Dragon

First appearing in 'Spyro: Year of the Dragon', for the PlayStation, Bianca begins as one of the antagonists, but after discovering the true purpose of her leader's work, she abandoned it in favour of bringing a stop to it. Though she doesn't have a huge role in the game, she does help Spyro in his adventure by using her magical abilities.
10. Starting out in comics and making the jump to video games, who is the "hyperkinetic rabbity thing" freelance police partner of Sam?

Answer: Max

Described (by himself) as a lagomorph, Max is the more reckless and violent member of the duo. The pair first appeared in the comic 'Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple' in 1987, and starred in their first video game, 'Sam and Max Hit The Road' in 1993.

While this game was developed by LucasArts, Telltale Games took up the reins and created a series of episodic titles, starting with 'Sam and Max Season One' in 2006.
