Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Articuno

Answer: Kanto (Gen 1)

Articuno (Pokedex #144) is one of the three Legendary Birds that were introduced in the first generation of "Pokemon" (Red/Blue/Yellow) which were released for the original Nintendo Game Boy (1998-1999). Articuno is a blue bird and is classified as a flying/ice type. It can be captured in the Seafoam Islands located between Fuchsia City and Cinnabar Island.
2. Zapdos

Answer: Kanto (Gen 1)

Zapdos (Pokedex #145) is the second of the three Legendary Birds released in the first generation of "Pokemon". It is a large yellow bird with jagged wings and is classified as a flying/lightning type. Zapdos can be found at the Kanto Power Plant, which the player can reach by "surfing" the river nearby to the Poke Center outside of the Rock Tunnel.
3. Moltres

Answer: Kanto (Gen 1)

Moltres (Pokedex #146) is the third of the Legendary Birds released in the first generation of "Pokemon". Parts of the names given to the birds come from numbers as they are written in Spanish (Artic-Uno, Zap-Dos, Mol-Tres), which are one, two and three respectively. Moltres is a flying/fire type bird with flaming feathers and can be captured at Victory Road in the three original games.

However, in the Gen 1 remakes "Pokemon FireRed" and "LeafGreen" (GBA, 2004), Moltres was moved to Mount Ember.
4. Mewtwo

Answer: Kanto (Gen 1)

Mewtwo (Pokedex #150) is an artificially created Legendary "Pokemon" species that made its first appearance in the first generation of "Pokemon". It was created by human scientists and was based on the Mew species. Mewtwo is a grey/purple psychic type that looks like a humanoid cat and is one of the most powerful species of the first generation. Mewtwo can be captured at Cerulean Cave after the Elite Four and your rival have been defeated at the Pokemon League.
5. Mew

Answer: Kanto (Gen 1)

Mew (Pokedex #151) is a small pink psychic type Pokemon that resembles a flying cat. Mew is considered to be a Mythical Pokemon, rather than a Legendary. Mew is listed as being from the first generation of "Pokemon", however it was not available to be captured in any of the original games or their GBA remakes.

The only way to get a Mew legitimately was to get it at one of several special events held by Nintendo that awarded it to attendees. Mew was used as the template to create Mewtwo.
6. Raikou

Answer: Johto (Gen 2)

Raikou (Pokedex #243) is one of the three Legendary Beasts that were released in the second Generation of "Pokemon" games (Gold/Silver/Crystal), which were released for the Game Boy Color (1999-2000). Raikou looks like sabretooth tiger and is classified as an electric type. It can be captured in the wild after defeating your rival in the Burned Tower at Ecruteak City.
7. Entei

Answer: Johto (Gen 2)

Entei (Pokedex #244) is another of the Legendary Beasts from the second generation of "Pokemon". Entei has mostly brown fur and has facial features that make it resemble a lion. It is a fire type "Pokemon" and like the other two beasts can be captured in the wild after defeating your rival at the Burned Tower.
8. Suicune

Answer: Johto (Gen 2)

Suicune (Pokedex #245) is the last of the Legendary Beasts from the second generation of "Pokemon". Suicune has blue fur and seems to have a wolf's proportions. In "Pokemon Gold/Silver", Suicune is available in the wild after releasing it from the Burned Tower.

However, unlike the other two it can be found at the Bell Tower/Tin Tower in "Pokemon Crystal" as Suicune was made the mascot for that version of the game. Suicune is classified as a water type.
9. Lugia

Answer: Johto (Gen 2)

Lugia (Pokedex #249) is the Legendary mascot of "Pokemon Silver". It is a large flying/psychic type that resembles a blue/white plesiosaur. It can be captured at the Whirl Islands once the player has obtained the Silver Wing. In "Pokemon Silver", the Silver Wing is awarded to the player after defeating Team Rocket in Goldenrod City.

In the other versions it can be obtained after progressing into the Kanto region.
10. Ho-Oh

Answer: Johto (Gen 2)

Ho-Oh (Pokedex #250) is the Legendary mascot of "Pokemon Gold". It is a large bird with red, white, green and gold feathers. Ho-Oh is classified as a flying/fire type and can be captured at the Bell Tower/Tin Tower in Ecruteak City after receiving the Rainbow Wing. The Rainbow Wing is obtained the same way in "Pokemon Gold" as the Silver Wing in "Pokemon Silver".
11. Kyogre

Answer: Hoenn (Gen 3)

Kyogre (Pokedex #382) is the Legendary mascot of "Pokemon Sapphire", released as part of the third generation of "Pokemon" (GBA 2004-2005). Kyogre is a large blue creature that resembles a flying whale. It is classified as a water type and can be found at the Cave of Origin. Kyogre can also be caught in "Pokemon Emerald", however it is located at the Marine Cave in this version and can only be obtained after defeating the Pokemon League.
12. Groudon

Answer: Hoenn (Gen 3)

Groudon (Pokedex #383) is the Legendary mascot of "Pokemon Ruby". It is a large red creature that resembles a tyrannosaurus rex. Groudon is classified as a ground type. However, it will become a fire type as well while holding a Red Orb. Just like Kyogre in "Pokemon Sapphire", Groudon can be found at the Cave of Origin in "Pokemon Ruby".

In "Pokemon Emerald", Groudon is found in the Terra Cave after defeating the Pokemon League.
13. Rayquaza

Answer: Hoenn (Gen 3)

Rayquaza (Pokedex #384) is the Legendary mascot of "Pokemon Emerald". It is a long green creature that resembles the dragon seen in "Dragon Ball Z". As such, it is classified as a flying/dragon type. Rayquaza can be found at the Sky Pillar in all three Gen 3 versions.

However, in "Sapphire" and "Ruby" the Sky Pillar is closed until the player reaches the Hall of Fame. It is opened up earlier in "Emerald"
14. Latios

Answer: Hoenn (Gen 3)

Latias and Latios (Pokedex #380/381) are two Legendary Pokemon featured in the third generation. They are both classified as dragon/psychic types and have a sleek design. Latias (female) is colored pink and white, while Latios (male) is colored blue and white.

After defeating the Elite Four, Latias can be found in the wild in "Sapphire", while Latios is found in the wild in "Ruby". Both can be found in the wild in "Emerald". However, if you capture one of them, you can only get the second via trading or at Southern Island with a promotional Eon Ticket.
15. Registeel

Answer: Hoenn (Gen 3)

Regirock, Regice, and Registeel (Pokedex #377/378/379) are three of the Legendary Titans introduced in the third generation of Pokemon. Each one looks like a robot made up of material matching their type. All three Regis are available in all three games after solving some puzzles. Regirock is located in the Desert Ruins, Regice is located in the Island Cave and Registeel is located at the Ancient Tomb.
