Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Woah! Within half an hour of starting my 'Runescape' adventures, I just helped keeping a dragon from destroying this lovely town! I'm sure off to a good start. But what is this town that I saved's name?

Answer: Lumbridge

Lumbridge is a small town in the the kingdom of Misthalin. All players start their 'Runescape' adventure there, where they must first save it from a dragon in the tutorial quest, "Learning the Ropes." Lumbridge is also the default respawn location for players who die, but this can be changed if you're a 'Runescape' Member, and if you're in certain mini-games like the Duel Arena, you'll respawn in the mini-game and not Lumbridge.
2. I asked a nearby traveler which way I should go to get to the Clan Wars Arena. He told me to cross the bridge to get to the eastern side of the River Lum, and then travel along the path north. Which landmark along the path he illustrated could I use to make sure I'm going the right way?

Answer: A cow field

Cows are extremely useful for low-leveled players to train on. They are level two, and extremely weak. They will also always drop bones, cowhide and raw beef. Newer players will find these drops very useful - bones train prayer when buried, raw beef is useful to train one's Cooking level, and cowhide usually sells for quite a lot.
3. Oh no! I've reached a fork in the road, by the merchant Rat Burgiss. I asked a passing man which way I should go if I wanted to skirt Varrock but head up to the Clan Wars arena, and he told me to turn right, towards the east. Was his answer true or false?

Answer: True

If you were to go left (east) and stay on the path you would have encountered a group of aggressive Dark Wizards who would have slaughtered you with their spells. And if you were to avoid them or stay alive despite their onslaught, you would have headed straight into the southern section of Varrock.

As for Rat Burgiss - he is a Non-Player-Character who plays a role in the Members-only quest, "What Lies Below."
4. As I travel up along the path and see one of the walls of Varrock, I see a mine to my left. Which one of these ores could I (if I had the right equipment and mining level) mine here?

Answer: Iron

Mining is an extremely useful skill. It allows you to extract ores from rocks, which you can sell or make into metal bars, with which you can make armor and weapons using the Smithing skill. You will start off only being able to use relatively ineffective pickaxes and only being able to extract less useful ores, but as you train and achieve higher Mining levels, you'll work your way up through gold, mithril, adamant and even runite. Also, if you've completed the "Rune Mysteries" quest, you'll be able to mine rune essence, with which you can make runes for your spells with the Runecrafting skill!
5. After traveling up the path for a while, I see a break in the wall, and an entrance to Varrock. Which one of these do I see milling around the doors?

Answer: A guard

Varrock guards are level 21 and dressed in a very strange outfit. (If you'll examine them, it'll say ""He tries to keep order around here/His bizarre uniform isn't helping.") They aren't very good for training due to their long respawn rates, and they are pretty adept at killing lower-level players.

However, they aren't aggressive, so no need to worry! You can explore Varrock another time, but for now come on with me to the Clan Wars Arena.
6. I keep my decision to not travel through Varrock, so I keep traveling north. Unfortunately, the path turns east at a certain point, so I have to walk through the woods! Which one of the following trees do I see as I travel north-west from the turn in the path?

Answer: A yew tree

Yew trees require the highest Woodcutting level of all free-player trees - 60. They give 175 Woodcutting experience for each set of logs that a player cuts from them, and give 202.5 Firemaking experience when burned. They take a relatively long amount of time to be cut down - even for experienced Woodcutters, willow trees are a better option for training than yew trees.
7. Phew! I'm out of the forest. But now I can see something that looks much more dangerous - the Wilderness! I jump over the wilderness ditch, and what attacks me on the other side?

Answer: A giant rat

The Wilderness is an extremely dangerous place due to the wandering aggressive Reverants that prowl through it. Reverants are the ghostly versions of creatures slain in the God Wars. You can only engage in combat with Reverants if you are close enough in level to them - although, the farther you go into the Wilderness, the higher the maximum level difference will be in order for you to fight them.

They are extremely powerful, much more than their combat levels indicate. They use all sides of the Combat Triangle and are capable of healing themselves.
8. I run away from my attacker, and travel up north the Wilderness (scary!) without any path to guide me. I walk beside an island surrounded by lava! What is on this island?

Answer: A temple

This temple is called the Chaos Temple, also known as the Zamorak Temple. It is located in level 11 Wilderness, and has bones strewn around it. It is a good place to train prayer because of these bones, but only if one is willing to take a risk - it is a common habitat for revenants, and fireballs periodically shoot out of the lava and cause damage to players which it hits.

It contains an altar, which can be used by players to recharge their prayer points.
9. I follow another player also going to my destination, and he takes me up north-east to the Clan Wars Arena! I join a clan, and a war starts! Which color portal do I go into to join the war?

Answer: Purple

There are three portals in the Clan Wars Lobby. There is a purple one, which a player must go into in order to join a war between two clans. There is a white one, which leads to a free-for-all battleground where players do not lose items on death, and a red one, which also leads to a free-for-all battleground, but in which players will drop all their items on death.
10. I join the clan war, and wait two minutes till the fight starts. When it does, I'm killed almost instantly! Perhaps I'm not ready for player versus player combat yet.... I decide I like Lumbridge more. Which of the following is the quickest way I can get back to Lumbridge with absolutely no equipment?

Answer: Use a spell

Lumbridge Home Teleport is a spell available to all players which teleports the player back to Lumbridge. It requires no equipment, but can only be used once every 30 minutes. It doesn't give any magic experience. It takes about ten seconds to perform the spell, and this will be interrupted by combat.

It is not to be confused with the Lumbridge Teleport spell, which can be cast instantly, gives 41 experience, requires a level of 31, and requires five runes.
