Somoza's dethroning by the FSLN, or Frente Sandinista de Liberacion Nacional, came to be known as the Sandinista Revolution. The United States, which has always been involved in Central American politics, in turn supported and then withdrew their support from both the Somoza and the Sandinista regimes. Somoza's corruption ran deep and hurt a lot of innocent Nicaraguans.

Private Henry Tandey of Great Britain and his regiment were attempting to capture the French village of Marcoing. Surrendering German troops were pouring out in front of Tandey's line of fire. Hitler, who was helpless, did not lift his rifle or attempt to shoot, and just stared at Tandey waiting for his due. Tandy didn't shoot saying, "I took aim, but I couldn't shoot a wounded man".

This is definitely one of the 'what if's?' in history.
