Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the spot which showed the filming of the Geico commercial (the first caveman ad), a caveman who worked in the studio made himself known when he heard the Geico pitchman utter the unforgettable "So easy a caveman can do it" line. What was the caveman's job in the studio?

Answer: boom operator

During the filming, just after the Geico guy said "so easy a caveman can do it", a "What?" was heard from the room. The camera panned over to show us an irate caveman throw down the boom mike he was holding. He yelled "not cool" to the Geico guy and stormed out.

The Geico guy tried to tell him he didn't know the caveman was in the room and that he could change it, but to no avail. Maybe it was hot in the studio, I don't know, but the caveman was the only worker in the studio who was shirtless.
2. In the ad which showed us that there were indeed more cavemen out there (the second ad), they became aware of the ad (and offended by it) when they saw it on TV. Where were they when they saw the ad?

Answer: in an apartment

The cavemen were hanging out in their apartment (one using a laptop computer, one playing the piano, and the other just watching TV) when the Geico ad came on. The one watching TV jumped up and said, "What's that supposed to mean?". Another remarked, "That is really condescending". All three of them were obviously incensed by Geico's claims.
3. In the restaurant commercial, the Geico representative apologized and said they had no idea the cavemen were still around. How did the caveman respond?

Answer: "Next time, maybe do a little research."

The Geico representative had invited two cavemen (one wearing a pink blazer, with his sunglasses perched on his head) to a fancy restaurant. His apology was met with the caveman's sarcastic comment about doing some research. Although he was looking intently at the menu, the one caveman was so irritated by it all that he didn't have much of an appetite when the waiter came to take their order.

He settled for giving the Geico guy a dirty look, which sent the message that he wasn't going to be bought.
4. When the caveman was on the moving sidewalk in the airport spot, which item was he carrying?

Answer: tennis racket

While our caveman was riding on the people mover at the airport, what appeared to be a stewardess passed by him. After checking her out, he then did a quick check of his ticket (maybe confirming the proper gate) before he noticed a Geico sign depicting the stereotypical caveman with the offending "so easy a caveman can do it".

He doubled back to get a good look at it before shaking his head in disgust.
5. When the offended caveman was being interviewed on a news program, the host asked how Geico's slogan could be offensive if it was true. Complete the caveman's initial response, "OK, first of all, I'm not 100%__________________".

Answer: "in love with your tone right now"

The host was first shown, with 'Geico.com's' and 'So easy a caveman can do it: Offensive?', at the bottom of the screen. After he asked the question, we heard the beginning of the response and then saw the caveman on a split screen making his comment. Not missing a beat, the host said, "Tone aside. Historically, you guys have struggled to adapt". The caveman was not amused.
6. In the news program interview, Connie's reaction to the caveman's sarcastic rant was to say that it sounded like someone woke up on the wrong side of the rock.

Answer: True

The host pointed out that historically the cavemen had struggled to adapt. The caveman sarcastically responded that they were walking upright, discovering fire, inventing the wheel and laying the foundation for all mankind. He said "Sorry we couldn't get that to you sooner".

The host asked Connie, who now also appeared on the screen, what her reaction was. She said, "Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the rock", and then smiled, obviously amused with herself. The caveman sighed disgustedly and leaned back in his chair.
7. One caveman was at the therapist discussing how he was traumatized by the Geico ads. Who called him on his cellphone while he was having his session?

Answer: his mother

The therapist questioned why Geico's slogan was offensive and told him it was just a commercial. The caveman then asked her how she would feel if Geico used "So easy a therapist can use it". She said it wouldn't make any sense to her and started to explain why, but he interrupted her. Just then his cellphone rang. He looked at it and said, "My mother's calling, I'll put it on speaker".
8. While at the therapist's office, the caveman was encouraged to role play. What had the therapist given him to do this with?

Answer: a caveman doll

The caveman looked at the doll, which wore an animal skin and had a unibrow, and asked the therapist if she was serious. She told him to just give it a try, to role play. He looked at the doll and said, "What's your name?". Then he looked at the therapist and said, "He doesn't say anything 'cause he's a doll".
9. In one Geico ad, we saw two cavemen having a discussion on a balcony while at a party. The first caveman was explaining to a second one why the other cavemen were upset with him. The reason they were upset was because the caveman had decided to cut his hair and be clean shaven, so as not to look like a caveman.

Answer: False

The first caveman told the second not to worry about those guys. The second one said he was tired of this, and the first one asked him what he expected after he switched to Geico. When the second one said it was his life, the first one responded that "just a little loyalty would be nice, that's all". The second one then questioned whether switching to Geico made him less of a caveman.
10. While two cavemen were having a discussion on the balcony at a party, a third stepped out to tell them his girlfriend was there and they were getting back together. What was the name of his girlfriend?

Answer: Tina

The first caveman, trying to give his viewpoint to the one who had switched to Geico, was just about to say something when he was interrupted by the announcement from the newcomer. The first one abruptly told him, "Hey, give us a minute", after which the one with the girlfriend walked dejectedly away.
