Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Spotify: a musician's first name and a song about being this age

Answer: taylor22

This is a fitting password for the music streaming service Spotify, where I do all my Taylor Swift listening.

Taylor Swift's song "22" is part of the album "Red", which was released in 2012. It is about a 22-year-old's partying lifestyle. Three years earlier, Lily Allen had released a song about that age, albeit much more cynical towards societal misogyny.

Taylor Swift shot to fame significantly younger than 22, beginning to play guitar, write songs and sing around age 12. As with much of her back catalogue, she later re-recorded "22" to regain some rights to her music that she signed away to Big Machine Records at the age of 15 in order to get her first albums released professionally.
2. YouTube: a South Korean rapper whose video passed some milestone involving this number

Answer: psy09

You can find all sorts of entertainment on YouTube, but I use it purely for education and learning trivia, of course.

Psy's "Gangnam Style" was the first YouTube video to pass a billion views - that's a one followed by nine zeroes (hence the password digit).

Psy, who was a class clown as a child, tried to study business in the U.S. but found music as a passion instead. His funny dance in the music video for "Gangnam Style" brought him to international celebrity status.
3. ESPN: a sports personality and jersey number

Answer: pele10

ESPN (Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) is a sports network and website, making the footballer Pele a suitable password. His jersey number of 10 was first seen in the 1958 FIFA World Cup; the New York Cosmos retired it in his honor.

Pele achieved nearly a goal per game in his career from 1956 to 1977 with Santos FC, Brazil and (briefly) the New York Cosmos. Pele was the highest-paid athlete in the world and declared the Athlete of the Century by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He died of cancer in the last week of 2022. He is survived by several children, from his three wives and from affairs.
4. Netflix: a television star's forename and the year his eponymous program debuted

Answer: jerry89

Netflix is a streaming service for television and movies, which has owned the rights (at some times/locations) to "Seinfeld".

Jerry Seinfeld's "show about nothing" starring a fictionalized version of himself ran from 1989 to 1998. He chose to continue touring with his observational stand-up comedy after the show ended and later began a web show, "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee".

Seinfeld has remained on good terms with his ex-girlfriend, Carol Leifer, who worked on "Seinfeld" and was an initial inspiration for Elaine. He was criticized for a four-year relationship with Shoshanna Lonstein that began with him aged 38 and her aged 17. In 1999, he married Jessica Seinfeld, an author who had undergone a divorce a year earlier.
5. LinkedIn: a Forbes billionaire's forename and year of birth

Answer: elon71

LinkedIn is a social media platform based around CVs and job searching, with many of its users wanting to become the next Elon Musk.

Musk was born in 1971 into a wealthy white family in South Africa to a father who worked as an engineer, developed property, partly owned an emerald mine and was elected as an anti-apartheid politician. Elon was interested in technology and video games as a child. As a young adult he founded several internet companies in the dot-com bubble and it was PayPal that established his inordinate wealth. He founded SpaceX and became CEO of Tesla, an electric vehicle company. Within a year of taking over the social media company Twitter in 2022, he started a rebrand to "X". He claims to have worked 80 hours per week or more and expects employees of his company to do so.

Musk has a reputation as an eccentric who takes many deliberately provocative actions that have earned him a devoted fanbase. His strong views on AI as an existential threat, cryptocurrencies and hate speech, as well as promotion of COVID-19 misinformation, are just some of the topics that can make his business partners roll their eyes. He has many children, the most well-known of whom have the musician Grimes as a mother - named X AE A-XII Musk, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk and Techno Mechanicus "Tau" Musk.
6. Ticketmaster: a comedian and his number of "dirty words"

Answer: george07

Ticketmaster is a middleman service for tickets to live events, such as stand-up comedy, where just about any individual in the industry will say that George Carlin was an inspiration to them.

Carlin's "seven dirty words" - none of which I can name here for obvious reasons - exemplified his taboo and black comedy, making him part of a counterculture of his day. When Lenny Bruce was arrested for obscenity, Carlin was also arrested for refusing to give identification to police. He was also arrested multiple times for his own stand-up material.

He was born in 1937 to Irish-American parents. Carlin was a drug addict, at various times having issues with alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, hallucinogenics, LSD and Vicodin. He suffered heart problems for many years and passed away in 2008.
7. Tinder: a radio and talk show host and his number of marriages

Answer: king08

Tinder is a dating app, which is why a reference to Larry King's eight marriages to seven different women is apt.

Larry King interviewed thousands of people in his life, from 1933 to 2021. He managed to get interviews with people who did not otherwise do them, whether they were a conspiracy theorist or a politician (or both!). Born to Jewish parents, Larry changed his birth surname of "Zeiger" to "King" after a boss of his told him the former was too difficult to remember.

In his personal life, King's wives varied from his childhood sweetheart to a Playboy Bunny. He lived to see not just his children and grandchildren, but also four great-grandchildren.
8. Zoom: an environmental activist and her year of birth

Answer: greta03

A person from Generation Z - born from 1997 to 2012 - is nicknamed a "Zoomer". Greta Thunberg's birth date of 2003 puts her in this generation.

Greta sank into depression at age 11 after learning about climate change, and was diagnosed with autism, OCD and selective mutism. Her parents initially did not support her climate activism, but saw how important it was to her. She got the attention of the world by standing outside the Swedish parliament every day for three weeks with a sign reading "School strike for climate".

Thunberg grew a movement on Instagram and Twitter and became one of the most famous members of Gen Z. She is known for not mincing her words, whether it is tweeting at Donald Trump or speaking at United Nations conferences. She has been arrested multiple times for nonviolent protests.
9. IMDb: an actor's forename and the number of degrees that relate him to many celebrities

Answer: kevin06

IMDb is a database of film, television and mass media, where you might read about Kevin Bacon's film roles as leading man. The "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" is a game where you have to connect any actor to Kevin Bacon through films that two actors have appeared in together. For instance, within the "X-Men" franchise, Ian McKellen appeared alongside Michael Fassbender and Fassbender appeared with Bacon, so McKellen's "Bacon number" is two.

Bacon is known for "National Lampoon's Animal House", "Friday the 13th", "Footloose", "A Few Good Men", "Apollo 13" and many other films. He began a theater career at 17 and starred in his first film at 20. His music-minded brother, Michael, worked as an academic and a film score composer. Kevin married Kyra Sedgwick in 1988, having two children. He invested in Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme and lost money when it collapsed.
10. FunTrivia: a "Jeopardy!" host's surname and his year of death

Answer: trebek20

Alex Trebek is perhaps the most well-known host of "Jeopardy!", a quiz show that you might watch to improve your knowledge for FunTrivia.

Trebek hosted the show from 1984 until his death in 2020, at the age of 80. Canadian-born Trebek began his career on CBC radio and television, reading the news and taking every opportunity he could. When he moved to the U.S. he started hosting game shows. He married twice and had two children with his second wife. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1998.

In 2019, at the age of 79, Trebek was diagnosed with cancer, but he remained cheerful and said he was happy to continue hosting "Jeopardy!" for as long as he was physically able. This resulted in more than one emotional moment, such as when a contestant who was about to lose wrote as his last answer "What is ... We love you, Alex!" He recorded his last episode within days of his death in 2020.
