Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

The "Star Wars" galaxy is mapped with Coruscant at the center as a reference point. The main regions, radiating out from that center, are:

Deep Core: The innermost, densely packed region with a supermassive black hole.
Core Worlds: Powerful, wealthy, and historically significant planets like Coruscant and Alderaan.
Colonies & Inner Rim: Early colonies of the Galactic Republic, now well-developed.
Mid Rim: Industrialized worlds like Naboo, less developed than the Core.
Outer Rim: A vast frontier and the last region settled by the Republic; home to many iconic planets like Tatooine and Hoth.
Wild Space & Unknown Regions: Largely uncharted territories on the galactic fringe, home to Kamino, Ahch-To, and the First Order's origins.

Here are some of the most prominent planets from the "Star Wars" canon:

Alderaan - First appeared in the first "Star Wars" movie in 1977, in the core worlds galactic region. It's a peaceful, mountainous planet, the home world of Princess Leia and the House of Organa; it was famously destroyed by Grand Moff Tarkin with the Death Star's superlaser.

Corellia - Han Solo's home planet, a major shipbuilding world and industrial powerhouse where famous starships such as the Millennium Falcon, are built. Coronet City is its capital, polluted amid forests and jungles. It first appeared in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (2018). It also features prominently in TV series like "The Clone Wars" and "Ahsoka", as well as in many books, comics, and video games like "Star Wars: The Old Republic" and "Knights of the Old Republic".

Endor - In the outer rim galactic region, it is a gas giant planet most famous for its "Forest Moon," battleground of the decisive Battle of Endor of "Return of the Jedi", that is home to the Ewoks. It's been the setting of many Ewok TV movies like "Ewok Adventure" and "Battle for Endor" along with cartoons depicting witches, and giant beasts like the Gorax.

Hoth - In the outer rim galactic region is the Ice planet Hoth, site of the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base in "The Empire Strikes Back", and inhabited by creatures like tauntauns (lizard-like snow creatures used by the Rebels as mounts for scouting patrols) and wampas (Large, white-furred predators). In The Battle of Hoth, the Galactic Empire tracked down the Rebels, and launched a ground assault led by Darth Vader. It's the first time we saw the gigantic AT-AT walkers (All Terrain Armored Transports).

Ilum - A terrestrial planet, rich in khyber crystals, sacred to the Jedi Order for millennia. Starkiller base was a super-weapon, built by the First Order by hollowing out and heavily modifying the planet Ilum. Starkiller base weaponized Ilum, making it the First Order's planet-sized super-weapon in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy. Unlike a mobile space station, it was a converted planet capable of destroying entire multiple star systems. It was seen in "The Force Awakens" (2015), and was eventually wiped out by the Resistance.

Kamino - Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers Kamino in "Attack of the Clones" (2002), after tracing bounty hunter Jango Fett's poison dart; it is an Oceanic planet, perpetually stormy, located in the Beyond Outer Rim Region. It is home of the Kaminoans, who created the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic (clone troopers). In the animated series, "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" (2021), the Empire's Palpatine orders Admiral Rampart to destroy Kamino's cloning facilities to erase all evidence of the clone program.

Lothal - Lothal is the primary setting of the animated series "Star Wars Rebels", a planet of green plains and industrial cities, it is the home world of Ezra Bridger, an orphan who sense the Force and joins the early Rebel movement. Located in the Outer Rim Territories, a Jedi Temple lies deep beneath the surface of Lothal, the planet known as the birthplace of the Rebellion.

Mustafar - Mustafar is a volcanic lava world planet, in the outer rim galactic region. It was the planet where Anakin Skywalker transformed into Darth Vader; the planet later became his Sith stronghold, and the site of the climactic duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader in "Revenge of the Sith" (2005). The TV Series "The Clone Wars" featured the planet as a Separatist base, with secret Sith experiments. It also appears in the series "Star Wars Rebels", and the "The Darth Vader" comic book series.

Nevarro - In the television series, "The Mandalorian", Nevarro is a volcanic Outer Rim planet, of ash, rocky landscapes, black sand and lava. It is the home base of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, with Greef Karga managing operations from a cantina in Nevarro City. The volcanic terrain surrounding the Nevarro City is inhabited by dangerous creatures like the nocturnal Nevarro reptavian and lava meerkats.

Tatooine - In the outer rim galactic region, Tatooine is the desert planet home world of Anakin and Luke Skywalker, known for its twin suns and crime-ridden ports like Mos Eisley (its largest spaceport). In addition to the Skywalker family line, Tatooine is home to Tatooine is home to Obi-Wan Kenobi (living in exile as "Old Ben"), Jabba the Hutt, and Boba Fett (who takes over Jabba's palace after "Return of the Jedi'). Tatooine was filmed in Tunisia; its real-life set locations still attract fans. In "The Rise of Skywalker" (2019), Rey travels to the abandoned childhood homestead of Luke Skywalker and buries the lightsabers of Luke and Leia there, ending the Skywalker saga where it began.

Yavin IV - In The Outer Rim Territories, Yavin IV is the jungle-covered moon that was the Rebel Alliance's secret base in "Star Wars" (1977). It's where the Empire's Death Star met its first defeat. The Rebel base on Yavin IV was built into one of the enormous Massassi (an ancient warrior race) pyramidal temples, leftover from a bygone Sith civilization. It is here that the Rebels analyze plans stolen by Princess Leia and the crew of the Millennium Falcon, and determine the Death Star's weakness is its thermal exhaust port.
