Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

The "Star Wars" galaxy is mapped with Coruscant at the center as a reference point. The main regions, radiating out from that center, are:

Deep Core: The innermost, densely packed region with a supermassive black hole.
Core Worlds: Containing powerful, wealthy, and historically significant planets.
Colonies and Inner Rim: This has early colonies of the Galactic Republic, and is now well-developed.
Mid Rim: Less developed than the Core Region, this has industrialized worlds.
Outer Rim: A vast frontier, it is the last region settled by the Republic.
Wild Space and Unknown Regions: Largely uncharted territories on the galactic fringe, home to the First Order's origins, which sought to restore the military structure of Darth Vader.

Here are the planets from the "Star Wars" canon:

Ahch-To: Located in the unknown galactic region, Ahch-To (gesundheit) is a mostly an oceanic planet. It is the planet on which the first Jedi Temple was founded and where Luke Skywalker went into hiding in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". (2015). George Lucas liked to match planets to emotional states, and Ahch-To symbolized rebirth. Scenes of Ahch-To were filmed on Skellig Michael, an actual 6th-century monastery island off the coast of County Kerry, in Ireland.

Bespin: In the outer rim galactic region, although Bespin is a temperate gas giant it does have a habitable "Life Zone" with a band of breathable atmosphere. It is home to Cloud City, a mining colony and refuelling station, and that is the where in a saber fight between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader revealed the startling news that shocked audiences around the world.

Coruscant: In the core worlds galactic region, Coruscant is one of the most important planets in "Star Wars"-it is in fact, the Galactic capital, a planet-wide ecumenopolis (city-covered planet). It is the home of the Jedi Temple and Galactic Senate. Coruscant was first mentioned in Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" novels in 1991, before appearing in the films.

Crait: Located in the Outer Rim Territories of the "Star Wars" galaxy, Crait is a salt-crusted mineral planet, mined for its red mineral dust, and situated in a remote star system. It was featured prominently in "Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi" and the climactic battle there.

Dagobah: Located in the outer rim galactic region, Dagobah is swampy and murky, filled with overgrowth, bogs and stagnant water, and yet, it is a planet strong with the Force. Its primary role comes in the film, "The Empire Strikes Back". After the Battle of Hoth, Luke Skywalker experiences a vision of Obi-Wan Kenobi telling him to travel to the Dagobah system to complete his Jedi training. And it is there that Luke encounters...you guessed it, the exiled Yoda, who trains him in the ways of the Force.

Geonosis: It is rocky, desert red planet, best known as where the first major battle of the Clone Wars occurred. Located in the Outer Rim Territories. In "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones", we find Geonosis to be the home planet of the insect-like Geonosians. The planet is a major droid and weapon manufacturing center for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, known as the Separatists. It's the planet where Yoda came in like the cavalry with his Clone Army.

Jakku: In the Western Reaches galactic region at the edge of the galaxy is the harsh dry, hot, stormy desert planet called Jakku, home of the pivotal character Rey, a scavenger played by Daisy Ridley in "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" (2015). Jakku was the site of the final battle between the Empire and the New Republic, where Rey was abandoned at Niima Outpost, approximately thirteen years after the Battle of Jakku.

Kashyyyk: This is the home planet of Chewbacca and all his other fellow Wookie species. Located in the Mid Rim galactic sector, the planet is dense with multi-level forests featuring massive wroshyr trees. swamps, and coastlines. The Battle of Kashyyk at the end of the Clone Wars in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" saw the Separatists attacked the planet. The planet was successfully defended against the attack when the Galactic Republic, including Jedi Masters Yoda and Luminara Unduli, came to the Wookiees' aid.

Mandalore: In the Outer Rim Territories Mis the planet Mandalore, culturally and politically significant planet in the Star Wars universe, featured in the Disney+ TV series called "The Mandalorian". It was once a lush world, but was devastated became largely glassed and uninhabitable from past wars. It became known for its legendary warrior culture and beskar metal, a nearly indestructible substance with which the armor of warriors and bounty hunters was made. Besides the TV series, Mandalore appears in many novels, comics, and reference guides in the "Star Wars" universe.

Naboo: Another Mid Rim galactic region planet is Naboo, the home planet of important characters like Padmé Amidala and Emperor Palpatine. As depicted in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace", it is a picturesque planet with beautiful cities and vast plains, rolling hills, swamps, deep lakes, and lush forests. The two main species living there are the Naboo (humans), and the The Gungans (an intelligent and proud amphibious species). The Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo, schemed by Senator Palpatine, ignited the Clone Wars.

Scarif: The Imperial headquarters and data vault that housed the Death Star plans was located on the planet Scarif, a tropical, oceanic world, in Outer Rim Territories. The Battle of Scarif was the first major military engagement between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, featured in the movie "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016).

And these are fictional planets that are NOT from the "Star Wars" universe, but instead are from other works of science fiction and fantasy:

Azeroth is the fictional planet that is the main setting for Blizzard Entertainment's "Warcraft" video game series. It first appeared in "Warcraft: Orcs & Humans" in 1994.

Helion Prime originated in the science fiction film "The Chronicles of Riddick" (2004), starring Vin Diesel. It was a sequel to the movie "Pitch Black" (2000).

LV-426, also known as Acheron, is from the "Alien" franchise, a desolate place that was the first human encounter with the Xenomorph species occurred. The doomed commercial starship USCSS Nostromo with Sigourney Weaver and company set the sci-fi/horror/action film world afire in 1979's "Alien".

Captain Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise had their fair share of bad run-ins with the Romulan species of the planet Romulus, in the ground-breaking TV series "Star Trek".

Skrullos is a planet in the Marvel Comics universe where the shape-shifting Skrulls lived. Now, when I was a kid reading "The Fantastic Four" comics, the Skrulls were definitely bad guys, but as I update my research I have learned that they somehow became good guys in the Marvel pantheon of comics.

One of the most iconic planets in all of science fiction is Trantor the capital of the Galactic Empire in the legendary science fiction novel series by Isaac Asimov: "Foundation".
