The duo began feuding over the WWE Intercontinental Championship in late 1997. Eventually, the pair faced each other at the "Wrestlemania XV", "Wrestlemania XVII" and "Wrestlemania XIX" events.

The "Rated R Superstar" Edge gave many innovative match performances at "Wrestlemania" events. At the WWE's 2001 "Wrestlemania X-Seven" event, Edge and his partner Christian won the first Tag Team Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match. During the match, Edge speared Jef Hardy off a twenty-foot ladder.

Edge also won the the first Money in the Bank Ladder Match at the WWE's 2005 "Wrestlemania 21" event. Edge also speared Mick Foley through a table at the WWE's 2006 "Wrestlemania XXII" event.

The main event match of the WWE's 2015 "Wrestlemania XXXI" event saw Brock Lesnar defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. Daniel Bryan was scrutinized by the WWE's "Authority" for not being the image of a WWE champion. He set out to prove everyone wrong using his "Yes" movement and massive fan support. An intense feud between Bret "the Hitman" Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin began in the fall of 1996. At the WWE's 1997 "Wrestlemania XIII" event, Hart and Austin faced each other No Disqualification Submission Match. UFC star Ken Shamrock served as the guest referee for the match.

Bret Hart won the match by technical submission. Austin passed out while he was placed in Hart's "Sharpshooter". Austin never submitted or said "I Quit" during the match. The match was inducted as the inaugural "Immortal Moment" recipient in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2025.
