Written by Jim 'Moose' Brown and Don Rollins, "It's Five O' Clock Somewhere" was performed as a duet by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett and was the lead single for Jackson's 2003 album "Greatest Hits Volume II". The song enjoyed immense popularity and peaked at the number one position on Billboard's Hot Country Songs for eight non-consecutive weeks in 2003.

The song recounts an unnamed narrator who is lamenting his weariness with work and frustrations with his boss which leads him to daydream about escapism primarily in the form of drinking on a beach in an exotic locale. However, it is not quite 5 o'clock which is quitting time, but the narrator remembers the fact that the world is divided into multiple time zones:
"It's only half-past twelve but I don't care. It's five o'clock somewhere." This refrain is repeated multiple times throughout the song.

Jimmy Buffett joins in when Alan singing as the narrator poses the question: "...I can't help but wonder, what would Jimmy Buffet do"? Jimmy happily encourages the narrator that he would do the same thing and mentions "It's always on five in Margaritaville".

Answer: An urban legend claiming food dropped on the floor is germ-free and safe to consume if picked up within 5 seconds

The origin of this rule is not crystal clear. According to the book titled "Did You Just Eat That" by food scientist Paul Dawson and food microbiologist Brian Sheldon, the origin is traced to Genghis Khan! "If food fell on the floor, it could stay there as long as Khan allowed," write Dawson and Sheldon. The idea was that "food prepared for Khan was so special that it would be good for anyone to eat no matter what." I guess the Mongol warlord felt he had authority over germs!

Of course, this was before germ theory was even considered as a concern for dropped food. This apparently centuries-old pop culture fixture has even been explored in an episode of 'MythBusters'. Based on their testing, they found no significant different in amounts of bacteria with respect to exposure times at 2 and 6 seconds. Rigorous scientific studies have also been performed showing that the bacterial transfer to dropped food is almost instantaneous. Sorry germaphobes, the 5-second rule won't save you.

Answer: Freddy's

'Five Nights at Freddy's' is the creation of Scott Cawthon. The premise of the game revolves around a security guard named Mike who works at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza during the night shift. However Mike realizes this is no ordinary job as he discovers their are homicidal animatronics that roam the restaurant at nighttime. Gameplay consists of monitoring different camera feeds in order to track the movements of the animatronics to prevent them from reaching you resulting in a jumpscare game-over. Strategy is key as you only have a finite amount of battery to utilize activating remotely control doors that can block the animatronics and swapping from different camera feeds.

'Five Nights at Freddy's' was a commercial success shortly after its debut and has since spawned several sequels and even a movie.

Answer: Children's literature

Published primarily in the 1980s and early 1990s, 'The Fabulous Five' is a book series written by American author Betsy Haynes that chronicles coming-of-age issues that a group of middle-school aged preteen girls (Jana, Beth, Christie, Katie and Melanie) face such as romance, relationships with family and self-identity over the course of their middle-school years.

'The Famous Five' by English author Enid Blyton, is a children's adventure series that follows adventures experienced by siblings Julian, Dick, Anne, their tomboy cousin George and George's dog Timmy. Outwitting thieves and shady characters, meeting various friends and finding hidden treasures are common themes in 'The Famous Five' novel series which spans 22 titles written between 1942-1963. The series was well-received and has spurred numerous film and television adaptations.

On some online forums, posters have suggested 'Scooby-Doo' copied some elements of 'The Famous Five', however I did not find any convincing evidence for this speculative theory!

Answer: University of Michigan Basketball Team

The 'Fab Five', as dubbed by the media, refers to the 1991 University of Michigan (Go Blue!) Men's college basketball team. The reason for this nickname was due to the strength of the recruiting class Michigan fielded for the 1991 season. The 'Fab Five' were made up of the top 25 ranked high school basketball players in the nation at the time.

Members of the class were Chris Webber (4th), Jalen Rose (5th), Ray Jackson (21st), Jimmy King (24th) and Juwan Howard (25th). Fans and sports personalities alike consider this one of the greatest recruiting classes of all time. The 'Fab Five' advanced to the NCAA championship game in their first year and made history by becoming the first all-freshman team to start the championship game. However they did not prevail, losing to Duke 71-51.

The Subway we know today began in 1965 as "Pete's Drive-In: Super Submarine Sandwiches". Since its opening, Subway has experienced meteoric growth with an estimated 37,000 locations globally (Sept 2023 figures). Subway's genius marketing in the 2000s is what prompted the rapid growth of the chain, with the now disgraced Jared Fogle playing a key part in this growth by claiming to lose 200 pounds from a diet primarily consisting of Subway sandwiches which Subway heavily promoted, appointing Fogle as their spokesperson and ambassador for the sandwich chain.

Subway's iconic 5-dollar footlong marketing campaign launched in 2008, offering all its regular one-foot-long submarine sandwiches (excluding the premium and double-meat varieties) for five dollars. Customer response was extremely positive quickly becoming one of Subway's most successful promotions ever primarily due to the perceived value of the deal and slowing economic conditions at the time, prompting consumers to cut back on spending.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and the domino effect started with San Francisco area Subways first discontinuing the promotion in 2012 citing increased cost of business. On November 1st, 2014, Subway formally discontinued the promotion marking the end of an eater's era.

Answer: Chewing gum

Launched by Wrigley in 2007, 5 gum's objective was to capture a larger market share of the teenaged demographic who made up 1/3 of all chewing-gum users according to Wrigley. With 'edgy' sounding flavors and a sleek minimalistic packaging design with colorful imagery, what teenager could resist the offerings of Cobalt, Lush, Vortex, Zing, Elixir etc? Based on my own anecdotal experience as a teenager at the time, I would say that 5 gum was highly effective at making inroads with the teens.

The origin of the name is due to the claim that 5 gum imparts a full sensory experience of the 5 human senses to all of its users and this was creatively depicted in a series of advertisement commercials with the tagline 'How it feels to chew 5 gum'.

NOTE: As my editor pointed out, other faith denominations, notably Roman Catholics and Lutherans, combine the command against "other gods" and "graven images" as the first commandment. This ordering system would make "honor your mother and father" the fourth commandment. However for the purpose of the theme of this quiz, the standard Protestant ordering system is used.

Additionally, it is also correct to say 'Son las cinco con cinco', with the 'con' representing 'with'. Please note all of the preceding statements are in the formal form of Spanish; most Spanish speakers will recite time informally.

'Son' (pronounced sewn) is the third person plural (they/them) conjugation of the verb 'ser' which is used for permanent states of being (to be). 'Son las' only works with the numbers two-twelve when telling time, one is expressed with singular form of 'ser'.

The origin of the name comes from its placement as the fifth identified viral rash condition known to affect children out of a list of six conditions (Measles, Scarlet fever, Rubella, Duke's disease, fifth disease, Roseola).
