This rhyme was first recorded in 1833. However the tradition of predicting a person's qualities based on the day of his/her birth goes back to at least the 1500s. Though there are many versions of this popular rhyme, the most common one goes like this:

Tuesday's child is full of grace,

Thursday's child has far to go,

Jumanne literally means the fourth day of the week. That is because Saturday is considered the first day of the week. Interestingly, the Swahili word for Wednesday (Jumatano) means the fifth day of the week, and the Swahili word for Thursday (Alhamisi) derives from the Arabic word for the fifth day of the week even though it is the sixth!

Nearly 3,000 people died in the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. On that Tuesday morning, terrorists from the Islamist group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jets. Two of those planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Both towers collapsed.

A third plane was flown into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth was intended for the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. however, passengers attempted to take control of the jet from the hijackers, and the plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.

Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday. It's name refers to the tradition of eating fattening foods in advance of the fasting that accompanies Lent. It is also known as Shrove Tuesday.
