Blackpool is a vibrant coastal town situated in Lancashire, England. It is renowned for its sandy beaches and entertaining attractions. Blackpool is positioned on the northwest coast of England, adjacent to the Irish Sea. Additionally, Blackpool is well-known for its tower, which stands at 158 meters tall and draws thousands of visitors annually who also come to see the Blackpool Illuminations.

Brighton and Hove is located in East Sussex. Brighton is a very old town and dates back to the Bronze Age. A popular place to visit is the Royal Pavilion, which goes back to the Regency era. In the 1960s it became a very popular haunt of the Mods and Rockers. On the Whitsun bank holiday weekend of 16-18 May 1964, there was a huge violent clash between the two groups which later became known as the "Battle of Brighton". It has been said between 1000 and 3000 young men and girls were involved in the mayhem on the seafront.

Bournemouth is in the ceremonial county of Dorset, on the south coast of England. Bournemouth is renowned for its lively nightlife and golden beaches. An interesting fact about Bournemouth is that it has the world's first (and only!) pier-to-shore zip line and is also the first town in the UK to have colourful beach huts on the seafront.

Scarborough is located in the county of North Yorkshire. The first-ever seaside resort in Britain was in fact here in Scarborough. The largest open-air theatre in Europe can also be found in Scarborough. The theatre holds around 8,000 people. If you like the world of dinosaurs, this is the place to visit, as it's known for fossil remains and has the nickname of the "Dinosaur Coast".

You will find Margate on the north coast, part of Kent. Margate is very old and is mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. Since the Middle Ages it has been an important maritime port. It has been a seaside resort since the 1700s due to the River Thames and the arrival of the train in the next century. Margate has been one of the leading seaside towns in the UK for over 250 years due to its location and its very sandy beaches. Places to visit are Dreamland Amusement Park, the Theatre Royal - which is the second-oldest theatre in the country - and the Margate Caves. There are also lots of seaside-type shops and plenty of places to eat.

Bognor Regis is situated on the southern coast of West Sussex. During your visit to Bognor Regis, you have the opportunity to explore nearby cities such as Brighton, Chichester, and Portsmouth, which are in proximity. The seaside town was established by Sir Richard Hotham, who played a pivotal role in its development in the late 1700s. In the early days the town was quite basic and not that well received; however, when the railway line came to the town in 1864, it became very popular, and the town grew from strength to strength. At this time the town was just known as Bognor, but when King George V stayed here in 1929 to recover from an illness, the king gave permission to change the name of the town to "Bognor Regis". The term "Regis" translates to "of the King" in Latin. As with many seaside towns Bognor Regis offers plenty of pubs, restaurants and places to visit. You can have a nice walk on the 2.5-mile promenade or visit the historic Picturedrome Cinema and the Marine Park Gardens.

Torquay is a coastal town in Devon, located in south-west England, on the northern shore of Tor Bay. This area has become known as the "English Riviera". This is because of the mild microclimate and the palm trees, which are scattered all around Torquay. The term was first started by the Victorians as a reference to the French Riviera, due to the climate. Agatha Christie was born in Torquay in 1890. A very popular place to visit in Torquay are the prehistoric caves at "Kents Cavern"; these caves date back to around 400 million years ago. Torre Abbey is also a very popular tourist place to visit, built in 1196.

Whitstable is a town located in the Canterbury district, situated on the northern coast of Kent. From Roman times until the mid-1900s, the town, once known as Whitstable-on-Sea, gained notoriety for its oysters, which were harvested from beds located beyond the low tide line. The Whitstable Oyster Festival is held every summer in the month of July, attracting 1000s of tourists. The regatta is the oldest event in Whitstable. The event was launched in 1792 with a sailing competition. By the 19th century, it had evolved into the largest event on the North Kent Coast. Today, it features additional maritime activities such as yachting and rowing.

Weymouth is a coastal town and civil parish situated in the Dorset district, which is part of the ceremonial county of Dorset. Weymouth has a deep historical background reaching back to the 12th century. It was connected to major events, including the Black Death and the early colonisation of the Americas. The town of Weymouth is a well-known holiday destination. Its economy heavily depends on tourists. Visitors are drawn to its harbour and its position along the Jurassic Coast.

Morecambe is a pleasant seaside town in Lancashire. It lies on Morecambe Bay, part of the Irish Sea. In 1889, Morecambe was officially granted the status to be called Morecambe through the required legislation. The construction of the railways was significant for Morecambe, as it brought visitors from Yorkshire and even from distant places like Scotland. Places to visit in Morecambe are the Morecambe Winter Gardens, Morecambe Promenade and Stone Jetty, and Heysham Nature Reserve. The area is great just for relaxing, walking and living at a slow, leisurely pace. It's not like a lot of seaside resorts, maybe for the older person.

Although great places to visit and stay, Castle Combe, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Harrogate, Gateshead, and Derby are all inland.
