Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You've never left Dildo in Newfoundland before and have finally saved up for a round-the-world trip. You excitedly head for Gatwick to visit your English cousin. She takes you to Birmingham because you insist on having a meal in the Balti Triangle. You carefully check the menu so you can avoid cilantro. But your efforts fail because you soon suffer that horrible soapy cilantro taste. What went wrong?
2. While you're still in England, your cousin takes you to a football match in Manchester, where you sit and have a bite to eat before the game. A stranger walks up to you and says "that food truck's got some angin' scran, either of you two got any chuddy?". You were told Manchester does things differently here, but this was a step too far. What do they mean?
3. Escaping from the chuds, you fly south...real south and land at Wonderboom Airport, Pretoria. You rent a car and meet an old classmate who moved there years ago. As the two of you are driving around South Africa, your companion looks up from her phone to dead ahead of her and in a panicked voice says, "Look out, the robot is turning!" What does she mean?
4. Panicked, and escaping the dangerous situation that robot almost caused, you drop off your friend and decide to get out of South Africa altogether. Driving, you cross straight through Zimbabwe and into Zambia. Finally able to relax, you go into a local bar for a drink and there meet a beautiful local girl who introduces herself as Ella, and asks if you want "gun powder". What is she offering you?
5. You and Ella really hit it off and you have enough cash to bring her along. Your next stop is India, because you read about Bengaluru Palace in a old "National Geographic", and have always wanted to see it. Sixteen hours and three flight changes later, you arrive but discover that all the tickets to the palace are sold out for the next three weeks. You ask a local guide if there is anything she can do to help you get in and she says "I'll revert". What did that mean?
6. India was fine, and the palace was amazing, but Ella is using up your cash more than you thought she would - three tattoos, a shopping spree at Russell Market, and a bunch of clothes at The Bride Fashion Boutique *gulp* later you hop a 12 hour flight to your next destination.
Your old buddies have moved out here for the fishing and they take you out to sink a few excellent craft beers. You must have had a bad crisp with the beer because you end up having what they called a chunder. Your friends joke about you having a technicolor yawn while you yodeled into the white telephone. Mortifying. The only bit of luck is that Ella was right beside you. Which country are you in?
7. The next day you have to move on, and green as you are, you and Ella pile into the car and your friends drive you to the airport. It's slow going and your Aussie-based friends complain the whole way about all the witches' hats in their city disrupting their journeys around town. What did they dislike?
8. A flight north, and you are in the Land of the Rising Sun. Ella is excited to be here, as she is an anime freak. Instead of using friends, you hire a guide this time, but travelling the streets of Tokyo can be tiring and you certainly need to relax and refuel in the summer heat. It's 43C (109F) out there today. Your guide, Bunta, suggests a viking. What is he on about?
9. Japan was nice, but the language...truly "the devil's own tongue" as St. Francis Xavier so eloquently put it. You are nearly back home and wanted to go where you could understand what people were saying, but instead you chose Wisconsin. You just wanted some good cheese and to take Ella to a Green Bay Packers game. As you are lounging in a park, waiting to go to the game, a guy runs up to you and asks if you know where the nearest bubbler is. What is he asking for?
10. You and Ella hop your last plane and head to your Canada home. So's you finally get back ta' da Rock from away and yer fetchin' ta catch' up wit yer neighbours. Mary's down by da wharf, and she hollers at cha, "Is dat yer intended from away, b'y?" She turns to Ella and grins saying, "What knot are you at today, me love?" What did she just ask Ella?
