Jackson Pollack is the American painter most famous for his abstract "drip" paintings. "Autumn Rhythm (Number 30)" was created in 1950 in New York. Like many of Pollack's works, it is located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The controversial piece of art was in response to air raid bombing of the Spanish city of Guernica conducted on behalf of Spain's Francisco Franco. One of the most recognized American paintings is Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks". The work shows a city diner after dark with three patrons and an employee behind the bar. The iconic painting captured the loneliness and feeling of isolation despite being in a large urban city. The painting is considered part of the American Realism movement.

The painting was created by an Irish painter and captures the scene of Heilelil and Hildebrand secretly embracing before he leaves her to meet her family and prepares to die.
