Bearing the real full title "Moby-Dick; or, The Whale", "Moby-Dick" is the tale of an all-consuming desire for revenge, even to the loss of one's life. It contains one of literature's most famous opening lines, "Call me Ishmael." In a famous Hollywood movie version, Gregory Peck plays Captain Ahab, who is driven to kill the whale that was the cause of his loss of a leg.

The story is one of the great 19th century American novels about character flaws and strengths.
