Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the Cybertronian miner who would later become Optimus Prime in "Transformers One"?

Answer: Orion Pax

Orion Pax was one of the main protagonists in "Transformers One". In most "Transformers" cartoons, comics and movies, Orion Pax was the name of a robot who would be destined to become Optimus Prime later in life.

In "Transformers One" specifically, Orion Pax was a Cybertronian miner who was intent on finding a lost Cybertronian relic that would potentially improve the lives of all Cybertronians were it to be found. The film opened with Orion Pax breaking into a library on Cybertron in an attempt to find clues to the relic's location. Events that transpired throughout the film depicted the evolution of Orion Pax into Optimus Prime, the iconic leader of the Autobots who fought to promote and protect freedom for Cybertron and its citizens.

Orion Pax / Optimus Prime was voiced by Chris Hemsworth, who is also known for portraying Thor in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe".
2. The robot who would become Megatron was originally known by what letter and number combo in "Transformers One"?

Answer: D-16

D-16 was another of the main protagonists in "Transformers One". Like Orion Pax, D-16 in "Transformers One" was also a Cybertronian miner. However, instead of searching for ancient relics like his best friend Orion Pax, D-16 only wanted to excel at his job so that he could remain in good standing with supervisors and government leaders.

As the movie progressed, D-16 discovered the dark secrets and true motives of the leaders he had once admired. D-16's anger and thirst for revenge dramatically increased to the point where D-16 eventually severed his friendship with Orion Pax/Optimus Prime and adopted the name Megatron after his idol Megatronus Prime.

The voice of D-16 / Megatron was provided by actor Brian Tyree Henry, who gained notoriety for his role as Alfred "Paper Boi" Miles in the FX television series "Atlanta".
3. Which Cybertronian relic were the protagonists searching for in "Transformers One"?

Answer: The Matrix of Leadership

The relic that Orion Pax was searching in "Transformers One" was The Matrix of Leadership, which was said to have been lost prior to Orion Pax and D-16's creation. According to Cybertronian legend, finding the Matrix would restore the natural energy (Energon) of the planet, meaning that there would no longer be a need for miners and life would overall be better for Orion Pax and all Cybertronians as a result.
4. Who was the main female protagonist in "Transformers One"?

Answer: Elita-1

Elita-1 was introduced as the supervisor of both Orion Pax and D-16 in the Energon mines. After a mine collapse, during which Orion Pax and D-16 saved a colleague against Elita-1's orders, Elita-1 ended up getting demoted to the waste disposal unit. This led to her into conflict with Orion Pax and D-16 in the early part of "Transformers One".

Elita-1 later unwillingly became involved in Orion Pax' search for The Matrix of Leadership. By the end of the film, Elita-1 would eventually become one of Orion Pax/Optimus Prime's trusted lieutenants within the Autobot faction. In other "Transformers" media, Elita-1 was portrayed as a romantic partner of Optimus Prime in addition to being one of his lieutenants.

Elita-1 was voiced by actress Scarlett Johansson, who portrayed Black Widow in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe".
5. In "Transformers One", the protagonists secretly entered themselves into a race on Cybertron. What was the race called?

Answer: Iacon 5000

In "Transformers One", mining robots were Cybertronians citizens who were constructed without transformation cogs, a component that allowed them to transform. This resulted in "cog-less" Cybertronians being considered a lower class of society when compared to those that had the ability to transform.

After the mining accident, Orion Pax developed a plan to sneak himself and D-16 into a planet-wide race called the Iacon 5000 in an attempt to prove to Cybertronian leaders that miners had equal abilities to those that could transform.
6. Which Prime was the leader of Cybertron and also the main antagonist in "Transformers One"?

Answer: Sentinel Prime

Sentinel Prime was the leader of Cybertron in "Transformers One". He was originally portrayed as a hero amongst Cybertron's citizens (especially D-16) who believed that Sentinel Prime was hard at work searching for The Matrix of Leadership in order to restore the Cybertron's energy and lead the planet back into a golden age.

Though he did not transform in the film, Sentinel Prime's action figures revealed that he had the ability to transform in to a Cybertronian jet. As the film progressed, Sentinel Prime's true history and motives would be revealed, causing many citizens to turn against him.

Sentinel Prime was voiced by Jon Hamm, who played the lead role of Don Draper in the AMC television series "Mad Men".
7. Can you identify the comedian who voiced the character B-127 in "Transformers One"? Please do.

Answer: Keegan-Michael Key

After competing in the Iacon 5000, Orion Pax and D-16 were applauded for their efforts by Sentinel Prime. However, a mining supervisor named Darkwing did not appreciate Orion Pax and D-16 sneaking into the race and banished them to work at an incinerator deep underground, where they met B-127 (the future Bumblebee).

The voice of B-127 was provided by comedian Keegan-Michael Key of the comedy duo Key & Peele. In "Transformers One", B-127 was portrayed as a rambunctious Cybertronian who provided many comic relief moments during the film.
8. Who amongst the original Thirteen Primes was revived by the protagonists in "Transformers One" and granted them the ability to transform?

Answer: Alpha Trion

The protagonists managed to make their way up to the surface of Cybertron, where they eventually found a cave containing the bodies of the original Thirteen Primes (the first Transformers created on Cybertron). They discovered that one of them (Alpha Trion) was still alive and managed to revive him using a small energon cube.

Alpha Trion told the protagonists that Sentinel Prime, who was once a trusted advisor of the Thirteen Primes (and not a true Prime himself), betrayed the group allowing them to be ambushed and killed (with the exception of Alpha Trion). Alpha Trion then gave Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1 and B-127 transformation cogs from his fallen brethren, which gave them the ability to transform.

The voice of Alpha Trion was provided by Laurence Fishburne, who gained notoriety for portraying the character Morpheus in "The Matrix" film series.
9. In "Transformers One", what alien faction was revealed to be in control of Cybertron?

Answer: Quintessons

Sentinel Prime had secretly struck a deal with an alien race called the Quintessons, who had taken over Cybertron after the fall of the Thirteen Primes. Sentinel Prime promised to provide energy to the Quintessons in exchange for him becoming the leader of Cybertron.

Sentinel Prime secretly removed the transformation cogs out of freshly constructed Cybertronians and forced them to work in the underground mines. He led citizens believe that Cybertron was starving for energy, when in reality the planet's low energy level was the result of Sentinel Prime's treacherous dealings with the Quintessons.
10. Before they became Decepticons, Starscream, Shockwave and Soundwave were part of what group in "Transformers One"?

Answer: High Guard

Starscream, Shockwave and Soundwave were once members of the High Guard, a legendary warrior group tasked with serving and protecting the Thirteen Primes and the city of Iacon, the Cybertronian capital. After the Primes were betrayed by Sentinel and defeated by the Quintessons, the High Guard went into refuge on the surface of Cybertron.

Starscream was the group's leader when they captured the protagonists. D-16 soon challenged and defeated Starscream, damaging his voice box during the fight. Most of the High Guard would follow D-16/Megatron after his defeat of Sentinel Prime and subsequent banishment by Orion Pax/Optimus Prime. The High Guard would be rebranded by Megatron as the Decepticons.

Starscream was voiced by Steve Buscemi, Soundwave was voiced by Jon Bailey
and Shockwave was voiced by Jason Konopisos-Alvarez.
