Humble Pie was a British hard rock supergroup formed in 1969 by Steve Marriott (ex-Small Faces) and Peter Frampton (ex-Herd). They were known for their blues‑driven riffs and hits like '30 Days in the Hole', 'Black Coffee', 'I Don't Need No Doctor' and 'Natural Born Bugie'.
The Honeycombs were a 1960s UK beat group formed in London and fronted by vocalist Denis D'Ell. Honey Lantree, who played drums, was one of the few female drummers of the era. Her brother, John, played bass guitar in the band. They're probably best remembered for their UK number-one single 'Have I the Right'.
The Applejacks, from Solihull, England, were another British beat band of the mid‑1960s, which was also unusual for having a female member, Megan Davies, who was their bass guitarist. 'Tell Me When' was their biggest hit. Their second single, 'Like Dreamers Do,' was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Blind Melon is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1990. They are most famous for the single 'No Rain' and its music video 'Bee Girl'. Original vocalist Shannon Hoon died from a cocaine overdose in 1995. He also provided backing vocals on several Guns N' Roses tracks on their 'Use Your Illusion I' and 'II' albums.
Bowling for Soup is a pop‑punk band formed in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1994. They're known for their humorous hits like '1985' and 'Girl All the Bad Guys Want'.
Sherbet was an Australian band, and one of the country's most successful of the 1970s. Two of their biggest hits were 'Howzat' and 'Summer Love'. The group split up in 1984.
The Lemonheads are a Boston alternative rock band (formed in 1986) and fronted by Evan Dando. They rose to fame in the 1990s with tracks like 'It's a Shame About Ray' and their cover of Simon & Garfunkel's 'Mrs. Robinson'.
Tangerine Dream is a German electronic pioneer, formed in 1967 by Edgar Froese. They became well known to the 'Krautrock' and ambient movements, with influential soundtracks and sprawling synth explorations.
The Electric Eels were a Proto‑punk band from Cleveland, Ohio, in the early 1970s. They were notorious for their abrasive performances and chaotic energy, which influenced later punk acts. They disbanded in 1975.
Half Man Half Biscuit is a satirical UK indie band, formed in the 1980s, in Birkenhead, Merseyside, England. They're cult favourites, known for parodying popular genres and their witty, sardonic lyrics, which refer to UK popular culture and geography.
Martha and the Muffins are a Canadian new wave group. They were formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 1977, and are best known for their only hit 'Echo Beach', which reached number ten on the UK Singles Chart in 1979.
The American psychedelic garage rock band Chocolate Watchband was formed in 1965 in Los Altos, California. They're remembered for fuzz‑guitar anthems and their cult status among psych collectors. They broke up in 1970 then reunited in 1999.
Wild Cherry was an American funk/disco band from Mingo Junction, Ohio. They're famous for their 1976 hit 'Play That Funky Music', which reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number seven on the UK Singles Chart.
Mushroomhead are a Cleveland‑based heavy metal band, which was formed in Ohio in 1993. They mix industrial, alternative, and nu‑metal. Their theatrical stage shows have horror film-inspired imagery which features masks and costumes.
Blackberry Smoke is a Southern rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2001. They're known for their style of country rock with albums like 'The Whippoorwill', 'Holding All The Roses' and 'Like An Arrow'.
Mashed Potato Revolution, Cabbage Patch Riot, Supersonic Sushi, Mango Tango, Fudgecup, Peanut Puppets, Curry on Rocking, Pasta la Vista and Gravy Trainwreck are the bands I made up!
