Slade was a highly successful British band which was formed in 1966 in Wolverhampton, England. Vocalist Noddy Holder had a very distinctive raspy voice which was instantly recognisable. Their single 'Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me' reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1973, where it remained for three weeks.

Slade was renowned for misspelt song titles. Some more of these include: 'Mamma Weer All Crazee Now', 'Cum On Feel The Noize', 'Coz I Luv You' and 'Take Me Back 'Ome'. These were all number-one hits in the United Kingdom in the 1970s.
2. 'Gimme Some Lovin' 1966

The Spencer Davis Group was a British band which originated in Birmingham, England, in 1963. They released their single 'Gimme Some Lovin' in 1966. It became a hit, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart. It also made it to number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Other singles by the band include 'I'm a Man', 'Keep on Running' and 'When I Come Home'.
3. 'Kozmic Blues' 1969

Known for her powerful voice in the Rock and Blues genres, American vocalist Janis Joplin was born in 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas. 'Kosmic Blues' was a single by her that was released in 1969. The song, which she performed at the Woodstock Festival that same year, wasn't a major hit, achieving number 40 on The U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

However, she did have a number one hit in the U.S. with another single, entitled 'Me and Bobby McGee' in 1971. Janis tragically passed away aged 27 in 1970 from a heroin overdose.
4. 'Nothing Compares 2 U' 1990

Written by the late artist Prince, 'Nothing Compares 2 U' was recorded by the Irish singer Sinead O'Connor (born in Dublin in 1966). On its release in 1990, it reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. It also achieved the same position on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Among her other singles are 'Mandrika' and 'Thank You for Hearing Me'.

After many years of problems such as mental health issues, she was found dead aged 56. Her death was ruled as a natural cause.
5. 'Gimme All Your Lovin' 1983

ZZ Top, an American Rock band, originated in Houston, Texas, in 1969. They released their single 'Gimme All Your Lovin' in 1983, from their album 'Eliminator'. It got to number ten on The UK Singles Chart and made number 37 on The U.S. Billboard Hot 100. A few more of their singles are: 'Sharp Dressed Man', 'Sleeping Bag', 'Legs' and 'Viva Las Vegas'.

A couple of their other singles are 'Moonlight and Muzak' and 'Official Secrets'.
7. 'Rock and Roll All Nite' 1975

The song 'Bangla Desh' was a charity song by British musician and former member of the Beatles, George Harrison (born 1943 in Liverpool, England). It was recorded and released in 1971 to raise awareness and money for refugees from Bangladesh in the aftermath of the Bhola Cyclone.

The single reached number ten on the UK Singles Chart. Other singles of his are: 'My Sweet Lord' and 'All Those Years Ago'. He passed away in 2001.
9. 'Sk8er Boi' 2002
