Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Was a Tishbite

Answer: Elijah

Tishbe was never precisely located in the Bible, but some Biblical scholars believe Tishbe is in Gilead. The Hebrew word for Tishbe is toshabē meaning alien resident. Elijah is the only person in the Bible recognized as a Tishbite. I Kings 17:1 (KJV)
2. Said there would be no rain in Israel for three years

Answer: Elijah

The Lord told Elijah to tell Ahab that Israel would suffer a drought for three years. Ahab became angry at Elijah's prophecy and wanted to destroy Elijah. I Kings 17:1 (KJV)
3. Fed by ravens while living in the wilderness

Answer: Elijah

Elijah was sent into the Kerith Ravine by God so he could hide from Ahab before he was punished for his prophecy that there would be no rain in Israel for three years. To survive in the wilderness, Elijah was fed flesh by ravens and water from the brook Cherith. I Kings 17:2-9 (KJV)
4. Raised a widow's son from the dead

Answer: Elijah

When the brook Cherith dried up, God sent Elijah to Zarephath where Elijah met a widow who fed him. While Elijah was staying in Zarephath, the widow's son became ill. Elijah cried out to God to heal the widow's son through him and the widow's son was healed. I Kings 17: 10-24 (KJV)
5. Taken to Heaven in a chariot of fire

Answer: Elijah

When Elijah was at the Jordan River with his protegé, Elisha, God sent a chariot of fire to Earth. Elijah was taken to Heaven in the chariot of fire. 2 Kings 2:1-11 (KJV)

Elijah was present at the transfiguration of Jesus as described in the Gospels.
6. Son of Shaphat

Answer: Elisha

Shaphat was from Abel Meholah, a city close to the Jordan River. God told Elijah that Elisha would be his successor. Elijah found Elisha plowing Shaphat's field with twelve yoked oxen. Elisha burned the plowing equipment, killed the oxen to feed people in the city and then left with Elisha. I Kings 19:16-21 (KJV)
7. Teased for being bald

Answer: Elisha

Elisha was on his way to Bethel when he was accosted by a large group of children who teased him about his baldness. Elisha cursed the children and God sent two bears to attack the children. Elisha then went through Bethel to Samaria. II Kings 2:23-25 (KJV)
8. Multiplied a widow's oil

Answer: Elisha

On his travels, Elisha met a widow whose sons were about to be taken away from her to pay her husband's creditors. Elisha told her to gather all the jars she could and pour her lone jar of oil into the other jars. The oil from the widow's single jar filled all the jars the widow collected. Elisha then instructed the woman to sell the oil as a way to pay her husband's creditors.
II Kings 4:1-7 (KJV)
9. Instructed Namaan how to cure himself of leprosy

Answer: Elisha

Elisha told Namaan to wash himself seven times in the Jordan River to be healed of his leprosy. Namaan didn't understand why he couldn't bathe in a cleaner river, but he did as Elisha instructed and was healed. II Kings 5:9-15 (KJV)
10. His bones revived a dead man

Answer: Elisha

After Elisha died he was buried in a tomb. The Israelites were burying another man in the same area when they saw raiders coming toward them. Instead of finishing the man's burial, the Israelites threw the dead man into Elijah's tomb. When the dead man landed on Elijah's bones, he was immediately revived. 2 Kings 13:14-21 (KJV)
