Your assignment is to correctly link the miracles at the bottom of your screen with the names at the top. In this quiz, no Bible verses are given as clues as it would be a dead give away for most questions. For example, all of Moses' miracles are found in Exodus and no where else in the Bible. Most of Elijah's miracles are found in 1 Kings and all of Elisha's miracles in 2 Kings. Keep smiling and may God richly bless.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Parted the Red Sea

Answer: Moses

According to Exodus 14:21, the Red Sea was parted when Moses stretched out his hand over the water and "the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided."

With the sea miraculously parted, the Israelites were able to safely make it to the other side during their exodus out of Egypt.

However, when the Egyptian army proceeded to cross the sea in their pursuit of the Israelites, they encountered disaster. Scripture tells of God instructing Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea once again and this time, the parting of the water came to an abrupt end. With the water no longer parted, the entire Egyptian army ended up drowning.
2. Caused water to gush out of a rock

Answer: Moses

Moses struck a rock twice and water gushed out of it, much to the delight of the thirsty Israelites who were in the desert after their dramatic departure from Egypt. Details can be found in Numbers 20:1-13.

However, Moses' actions were in direct contravention of what God had told him to do. According to Scripture, God had told Moses to simply speak to the rock in front of the people and water would gush out.

Because of his failure to follow God's specific instructions, Moses was denied the opportunity to lead the Israelites into Canaan, known as the Promised Land.

Numbers 20:12 quotes God in the NJKJV as telling Moses: "Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them."
3. Turned dust into lice

Answer: Moses

As part of the ten plagues unleashed on Egypt, Moses was commanded by God to turn dust into lice. Details of the miracle can be found in Exodus 8:16-19.

According to the passage, God instructed Moses to call upon his brother Aaron to strike the dust of Egypt with his rod and when he did so the dust was miraculously turned into lice.

The plague of lice took place on the heels of the Nile River turned into blood and a massive number of frogs engulfing Egypt.
4. Unleashed a highly punishing hail storm

Answer: Moses

A highly punishing hail storm was unleashed on Egypt by Moses, as per Exodus 9:22-26. According to the passage, the plague of hail started after God commanded Moses to stretch out his hand toward heaven.

It was the seventh of ten plagues unleashed on Egypt. The hail devastated all of Egypt with the exception of Goshen where the Israelites lived. Goshen was near the mouth of the Nile River.
5. Turned a river into blood

Answer: Moses

The first of ten plagues unleashed on Egypt was the turning of the Nile River and all the other water in Egypt into blood. Details can be found in Exodus 7:19-25.

The passage tells of Moses and his brother Aaron receiving divine instructions to lift up a rod and strike the river and miraculously the water turned into blood.

Incredibly, the Nile River wasn't the only place where water became blood. Verse 19 states streams, rivers, ponds and water "both in buckets of wood and pitchers of stone" were turned into blood.
6. Raised a widow's son from the dead at Zarephath

Answer: Elijah

Elijah miraculously raised a widow's son from the dead at Zarephath by stretching himself out on the dead boy. Details can be found in 1 Kings 17:17-24.

According to the passage, Elijah took the body of the unnamed dead boy to an upper room and laid him on a bed. After fervently praying to the LORD, Elijah
stretched himself out on the child three times. Miraculously, "the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived."

The chapter then concludes with the woman stating: "Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is the truth."
7. Set soldiers on fire who had come to arrest him

Answer: Elijah

Scripture tells of Ahaziah, king of Israel, ordering a captain and 50 soldiers to arrest Elijah simply because the king didn't like what the prophet of God was saying about him. However, Elijah miraculously called upon the LORD to consume the captain and the soldiers with fire as they attempted to arrest him.

A second group, consisting of a captain and 50 soldiers, met the same grisly fate.

And why was the king so upset with Elijah? Well, Scripture tells of Ahaziah falling through the lattice of his upper room and sending messengers to consult with Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if he would recover from his injuries. However, Elijah met the messengers and rebuked them for consulting with Baal-Zebub and then proclaimed Ahaziah would die from his injuries.

After the messengers told Ahaziah about what Elijah had told them, the king became indignant and ordered the arrest of the prophet.

The chapter concludes with Ahaziah dying, just like Elijah said he would.

Details can be found in 2 Kings 1-18.
8. Prophesied there would be a major drought

Answer: Elijah

With King Ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel leading Israel into the worship of other gods, Elijah proclaimed there would be a severe price to pay. The prophet of God prophesied the land would be hit by a major drought, apparently to illustrate God's power over the false god Baal.

Details about Elijah proclaiming there would be a drought can be found in 1 Kings 17:1-7.

The end of the drought came three and one-half years later when Elijah announced it would rain once again. Elijah's announcement followed his spectacular victory over 450 prophets of Baal in a showdown on Mount Carmel. Details about the end of the drought appear in 1 Kings 18:41-46.
9. Miraculously ignited a sacrificial offering on Mount Carmel

Answer: Elijah

Elijah miraculously igniting a sacrificial offering on Mount Carmel could very well be his finest moment.

1 Kings 18:20-40 tells of Elijah challenging 450 prophets of Baal to a showdown on Mount Carmel. As part of the showdown, Elijah and the prophets of Baal were to call on a higher power to miraculously ignite an offering on the mountain top. While the 450 prophets called on Baal, Elijah called upon God.

According to Scripture, it was no contest with Elijah being the clear winner.
10. Parted the Jordan River before being taken up to Heaven in a whirlwind

Answer: Elijah

Elijah parted the Jordan River before being taken up to Heaven in a whirlwind. Details can be found in 2 Kings 2:1-14.

On hand to witness the miracle was Elijah's trusty understudy Elisha. Verse 8 in the NKJV states: "Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground."

Shortly after this, Scripture tells of Elijah being taken up to Heaven in a whirlwind.

Then in Verses 13 and 14, it states Elisha took Elijah's mantle, struck the Jordan River and it "was divided this way and that".
11. Raised a widow's son from the dead at Shunem

Answer: Elisha

Elisha miraculously raised an unnamed woman's son from the dead at Shunem by stretching himself out on the dead boy. Details can be found in 2 Kings 4:32-35.

According to the passage, Elisha was told the boy had died when he arrived at the woman's house. Scripture tells of the prophet of God praying to the LORD, then laying on the boy "mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands."

As he stretched himself out on him, the boy's body grew warm. Elisha got off the boy and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out on him once more.

Miraculously, the boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.

Christiananswers.net reports Shunem "was a little village in the tribe of Issachar, to the north of Jezreel and south of Mount Gilboa."
12. Made an axe head float

Answer: Elisha

Elisha caused an axe head to float to the surface after it was lost in the Jordan River, according to 2 Kings 6:1-7.

The axe head fell into the river when a group of prophets were cutting trees to build a new place to live. (Talk about flying off the handle!)

The prophet who lost the axe head was apparently filled with remorse as it was borrowed. However, his distress quickly left when Elisha asked the man where the axe head fell. After the spot was pointed out to Elisha, he cut a stick and threw it at the spot. Miraculously, the axe head rose to the surface and floated where it was retrieved.
13. Blinded the Syrian army

Answer: Elisha

Elisha was able to blind the entire Syrian army by praying to God, as per 2 Kings 6:8-23.

According to the passage, Elisha's servant had become terrified after seeing the enemy surrounding them. So Elisha prayed that his servant's eyes would be opened and he would see a mountain full of horses and chariots of fire protecting them.

On top of this, Elisha prayed the invading army would be blinded. And sure enough that's exactly what happened.
14. Made bitter water at Jericho drinkable

Answer: Elisha

One of a number of miracles performed by Elisha involves making bitter water in Jericho drinkable simply by throwing salt into the spring that supplied the city's water.

According to 2 Kings 2:19-22, the people of Jericho approached Elisha because the water was bad, causing death and making the land unproductive.

Elisha threw a bowl of salt into the spring that produced the water and it was immediately made drinkable.

Verse 22 states: "So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke."
15. Made poisonous stew fit to eat

Answer: Elisha

One of Elisha's lesser known miracles involves him purifying a pot of stew, as per 2 Kings 4:38-41.

According to the passage, Elisha was in Gilgal during a famine when the sons of prophets were about to eat stew. However, the prophets stated the stew was not edible as there was "death in the pot."

The passage goes on to tell of Elisha adding some flour to the pot and miraculously "there was nothing harmful in the pot."
