Marcel van Basten was born on 31 October 1964 in Utrecht, Netherlands. He played for Ajax from 1981 to 1987 and for Milan from 1987 to 1995. During his time at Milan and Ajax, he scored 90 and 128 goals, respectively. On the international stage, he represented his country in 58 matches between 1983 and 1992, finding the net 24 times.
Ruud Gullit was born on 1 September 1962, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In his senior career, Rudd played for six teams, but his most successful team was PSV, which he played for between 1985 and 1987, scoring 46 goals. Between 1981 and 1994, Rudd played 66 games for his country, scoring 17 goals.
Dennis Bergkamp was born on 10 May 1969 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In his senior career, he played for three clubs. The first club was Ajax, where he played between 1986 and 1993. During this time, he played in 185 games and scored 103 goals. His next team was Inter Milan, where he had a two-year spell, playing in 52 games and scoring in 11 games. Arjen Robben was born on the 23rd of January, 1984, in Bedum, Netherlands. In a senior career spanning 21 years, Arjen played for six clubs. His best spell was between 2009 and 2019 when he played for Bayern Munich. He played 201 games and scored 99 goals. Between 2004 and 2007 he played for Chelsea, scoring 15 goals in 67 appearances. Edwin van der Sar was born on 29 October 1970, in Voorhout, Netherlands. Between 1990 and 1999 Edwin played for Ajax, playing in 226 games. In 2005, he moved to Manchester United and played for the team until 2011. In that time he played in 186 matches. Although Edwin was a goalkeeper, he did score one goal for Ajax in a penalty shoot-out in 1998.
Robin van Persie was born on 6 August 1983 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He played for five clubs, but is best known as an Arsenal player. He was an Arsenal player between 2004 and 2012, playing in 194 games and scoring 96 goals in the process. Between 2005 and 2017 Robin played for his country, scoring 50 goals in 102 appearances.
Johan Neeskens was born on 15 September 1951 in Heemstede, Netherlands. He had a senior career spanning 23 years, playing for several clubs along the way. I think it's fair to say his best spells were with Ajax (1970-1974), where he played in 124 games and scored 33 goals. Next on the list is Barcelona, where he played in 140 games between 1974 and 1979 and scored 35 goals. Last on the list is his time at New York Cosmos, where he played in 94 games and scored 17 goals. He played in 49 international games for his country between 1970 and 1981, scoring 17 goals.
Patrick Kluivert was born on 1 July 1976 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In his senior career, he played for seven clubs. The highlight of Patrick's career was when he joined Barcelona in 1998. During his time at Barcelona, he scored 90 goals between 1998 and 2004, having played in 182 games. He first played for the Netherlands as an under-16-year-old; this was followed by going through the ranks as an under-17, -18 and -19-year-old. His first game as a full international player was in 1994, and it continued until 2004. He played in 79 international games, scoring 40 goals.
Virgil van Dijk was born on 8 July 1991 in Breda, Netherlands. Virgil joined Liverpool in 2018 and is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world. Ronald Koeman was born on 21 March 1963 in Zaandam, Netherlands. Ronald has played for five football clubs in a senior career. His first club was with Groningen, where he had a short spell between 1980 and 1983. Ronald spent six years at Barcelona between 1989 and 1995. He scored 67 goals in 192 matches. Between 1983 and 1994, he played for the Netherlands in 78 matches and scored 14 goals. After retiring from his playing career, Ronald Koeman took on managerial roles at several clubs, including Feyenoord, Southampton, and Everton. He was manager of the Netherlands national team from 2018 to 2020.
