Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. C.C. Babcock, business partner of Maxwell Sheffield

Answer: Chester

C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane) aspired to be more than just Maxwell's business partner on "The Nanny" (1993-1999), but had to make do with receiving Pomeranian Chester as a birthday gift from him. Like Max (Charles Shaughnessy), Chester seemed to like the nanny, Fran Fine (Fran Drescher) more than C.C., at whom he often growled. Considering that the real Chester was Drescher's dog, this was easily portrayed.
2. Charlie Hudson, Canadian police detective

Answer: Rex

Titular stars of "Hudson & Rex", which began its sixth season in 2023, Charlie and his German shepherd partner Rex solve crimes in and around St John's, Newfoundland. Rex is portrayed by Diesel vom Burgimwald, ably supported by John Reardon as Charlie Hudson.
3. Corporal Rusty, an orphan living at an army fort

Answer: Rin Tin Tin

In "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" (1954-1959), Lee Aaker played Rusty and Rin Tin Tin II played "Rinty", as the boy called him. (This German shepherd dog was not, in fact, related to the original Rin Tin Tin, who had made movies in the 1920s and early '30s.) Rusty and Rinty lived at Fort Apache, Arizona, whose garrison led by Lt Rip Masters (James Brown) had adopted them.
4. Harry Bosch, a Los Angeles detective

Answer: Coltrane

Coltrane, an Australian cattle dog played by Brody, came into the life of Hollywood detective Bosch (Titus Welliver) in the later seasons of "Bosch" (2014-2021). Their companionship continued in the follow-up series, "Bosch: Legacy" beginning in 2022, in which the retired Bosch has become a private investigator.
5. Jay Pritchett, whose company makes closets

Answer: Stella

In "Modern Family" (2009-2020), Stella was played by Beatrice the Dog, a French bulldog, for most of her appearances. Sadly, Beatrice died shortly after the series wrapped. Family patriarch Jay (Ed O'Neill) doted on Stella, sometimes making his other (human) children, and his wife jealous.
6. Martin Crane, a retired Seattle police officer

Answer: Eddie

When former Seattle cop Martin Crane moved in with his son on "Frasier" (1993-2004), so did his little dog Eddie, who had a way of getting under Frasier's (Kelsey Grammer) skin. Played by the Jack Russell terrier Moose (1990-2006), Eddie was a popular member of the cast reported to have received more fan mail than any of his human co-stars.
7. Paul and Jamie Buchman, a married couple in New York

Answer: Murray

"Mad About You" (1992-98; 2019) starred Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt as the Buchmans, and Maui, a collie mix, as their dog Murray. Murray had a reputation for being a bit dozy, always chasing an invisible mouse (which was later discovered to be real) and being lovable in general. I admit that he was my favourite of the three, possibly because he didn't bicker the way they did.
8. Stewie Griffin, a talking baby

Answer: Brian

Brian, of course, also talks in his capacity of family pet in "Family Guy". Both Stewie and Brian (and many, many others) are voiced by series creator Seth MacFarlane in this animated series which began in 1999. In a number of episodes, Stewie and Brian go off together on adventures, so it seemed fitting to cite Stewie as Brian's main person.
9. The Walton family, in depression era Virginia

Answer: Reckless

Reckless, a yellow lab, was a member of the family on "The Waltons" (1972-1981) appearing frequently from the very first episode until his (her?) passing in a season 8 episode. The question mark regarding Reckless' gender arose when the dog who had always been supposed to be male gave birth in season 6...
10. Walt Lloyd (and others), who survived an airplane crash

Answer: Vincent

Vincent is the second survivor to be seen, in the opening scene of "Lost" (2004-2010), after Jack opens his eyes and sees the dog run past him in the jungle. Played by Madison, Vincent was travelling from Australia to the US with young Walt and his father Michael, both of whom were able to leave the island at the end of season one. Vincent remained, staying mostly with Rose and Bernard Nadler.

The Labrador was one of only seven characters to appear in every season of the show.
