Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Hell, Fiona notes that she was trapped only with her worst memories and none of the good ones.

Answer: False

Cordelia regains her strength laying on the couch in her mother's lap while Fiona tells stories. As her daughter's fever lifts, Fiona tells a story of when Cordelia was just a young girl and suffered a similar illness that never lifted until she returned home from a faraway trip. Cordelia has no memory of it, even though she allegedly bit Myrtle Snow deep enough to draw blood. Fiona says that at that time, laying on her lap, Cordelia looked up at her with unwavering faith and worship. She spent years of her life eroding that faith, and she had years ruminating that regret in Hell, alone with her memories.

After a lifetime of disappointing Cordelia, Fiona is surprised she summoned her back. Cordelia doesn't take all the glory though; the coven brought her back.
2. Which of these does Fiona believe will help her atone for her sins?

Answer: Training Cordelia to be stronger

Although Cordelia claims that the coven brought Fiona back, Fiona is quick to push back, reminding her daughter that she's the Supreme and there can only be one-- it's Cordelia's coven and, thus, her choice. She has to own that.

Once Cordelia attempts to stand on her own two feet again, short of strength to do so, she wastes no time in indicating that the darkness is closing in on them once again-- she knows Fiona can feel it. It's beyond her capability. Fiona regrets that she couldn't train her daughter to fight such an awesome threat, but this is an opportunity to atone for her sins. She will make Cordelia strong, and a Supreme for the ages. But after that, Cordelia will be on her own.

They don't know what they're up against, but someone brought the killers back from the dead. If they find out what they're made of, it'll point in the direction of their maker.
3. What turns out to be inside the bodies of the serial killers?

Answer: Snakes

The witches bring the dead serial killers-- Jeffrey Dahmer, Richard Ramirez, and the Zodiac Killer-- into Cordelia's greenhouse to act upon Fiona's suggestion. Only by cutting them open and seeing what they're made of can they determine who's truly responsible. The answer comes quickly when Cordelia jabs a knife into Dahmer's torso, splitting him open to reveal a putrid, black substance teeming with white snakes.

As Cordelia seals away the snake in a glass container, Morwenna says that the situation reeks of voodoo (though Queenie is quick to push back).
4. In order to try and make amends, Fiona serves Cordelia which of these as a meal?

Answer: Chicken soup

While Cordelia ponders the snake, Fiona sits down next to her at the dinner table to offer up a not-so-simple chicken soup, its ingredients containing a melange of things meant to boost her daughter's strength and wellness. Cordelia has to ask what she's doing-- it's not the time, and it's a bit much considering everything.

Cordelia is able to deduce that there's nothing human behind the threat against them, and the snake is a symbol that the Devil himself has used since he first infiltrated Eden. He wants to be known. How they defeat him, however, is another story. Fiona has to remind her that their abilities emerge from the threats they face; they'll have to improvise. Cordelia just needs to be set on the right path.

Fiona notes, somewhat concerningly, that to beat the Devil, one must befriend the Devil's friend.
5. When Cordelia encounters Papa Legba, he is unaware that Fiona has escaped Hell.

Answer: True

The witches are forced to perform another ritual to follow through on Fiona's suggestion, and this one has Cordelia reaching out to Queenie specifically. Queenie believes that Cordelia isn't ready to perform this one, however, as her body isn't strong enough in light of the recent... erm... death. She even offers to go to Hell to warn Papa Legba and reduce the chance of surprising him. He is, after all, the Devil's friend.

It takes little effort for Cordelia to descend into Hell, and when she arrives, she calls out Papa Legba's name, demanding that he show himself. He appears to her and criticizes her for arriving without an offering. It must be urgent, he notes. She acknowledges that this was intentional, as she needs nothing of him, but she has something that he will need. When she reveals that Fiona Goode has emerged from Hell and risen to the world of the living, the stakes change. He'll need to retrieve her himself.
6. Cordelia brought her mother back with the Magic of the Forgotten Way. To make a deal with Papa Legba, she offers which of these?

Answer: To erase all knowledge of this magic

While Fiona waits in her bedroom, Papa Legba bursts in through the wardrobe and demands that she return to Hell under his watch-- a request she refuses. Cordelia has to step in to admit that she was the one who called her mother back using ancient magic, the Magic of the Forgotten Way. She threatens to pull more souls from Hell, diminishing Papa Legba's stranglehold there, and it's the only way to get him to listen.

Cordelia vows to erase any trace of the spell that brought her mother back-- including all knowledge, which will die with her-- but they require something in return
7. Papa Legba offers to help Cordelia, but only if who is removed from Hell to assist him?

Answer: Marie Laveau

Cordelia reveals the white snake to Papa Legba, letting it free of its cloche, and the two watch as it leads itself into the burning fireplace and sets ablaze. It only reverifies what they know; it's Satan's doing, through and through. Defeating him is tough though, and Papa Legba indicates that he can't do anything to help them, really, without his own help. This would mean bringing back Marie Laveau, who Queenie had previously sent to Hell (along with Delphine LaLaurie) years earlier, a proposition that Fiona is hesitant to agree to.

Cordelia is willing to hear Papa Legba out, asking why Laveau, but they aren't safe to talk out in the open. The short answer is that only Marie can provide Papa Legba protection. If they agree, there's no more picking the lock to Hell. One soul is pulled from Hell, but one will need to be sacrificed in place.
8. Fiona offers that she be taken back to Hell, trading her soul to help Cordelia. It would mean placing her back into a home made with which material, which she despises?

Answer: Knotty pine

Once the request for a soul is conveyed, Fiona volunteers herself to return to Hell, noting that she's willing as she'd only been back for a short time. She instantly recalls a version of the house she'd been placed in when she'd been claimed after relinquishing her life years ago-- one created as though a labyrinth, with wooden walls made of knotty pine and with no escape. She says that she would spend eternity in that maze if it would help Cordelia.

Cordelia does not allow this, as only Fiona knows how best to keep Marie Laveau in check, instead offering herself, as she is not strong enough to face the threat.
9. Which member of the coven is traded to Papa Legba and forced to wait, in Hell, on his request?

Answer: Queenie

Queenie refuses to let Cordelia send herself to Hell in exchange for Marie's soul and, instead, suggests that she be traded. She understands exactly what's at stake and is willing to trade herself for the cause, protecting their Supreme in the process. If they succeed, Papa Legba must return her to the human realm alive.

And with that, Queenie returns to her own personal hell working the counter of a fried chicken shop, a familiar site from her past trips to Hell in facing the Seven Wonders. To Queenie's shock, one of the people in line to speak to her at the counter is Delphine LaLaurie. Though LaLaurie is there to complain about the meal, it's a good opportunity for Queenie to talk back. She takes off her earrings before sticking her face in the deep fryer, using her powers to exact vengeance.
10. The only way that they can defeat the Devil, according to Papa Legba, is by combining which of these?

Answer: White and black magic

In the Academy, Papa Legba blows out the candles and finishes his work, declaring that the trade has been completed. Marie lets herself into the sitting room, declaring that if Madame LaLaurie is still hiding in their massive home, then she'll bring it all to the ground. It's a brief greeting, and there's no love lost between Fiona and her former rival, but Papa Legba puts their catfight to a rest. The Devil, after all, is closing in, and they're there to get to work.

In the coming storm, the high, white magic of Salem must unite with the low, black magic of the bayou or everything will be lost. They will have a detente for the time being. As Marie takes a seat next to Fiona, they agree that they will defeat the Devil himself.
