In Massachusetts in 1851, a man heads along the path to a stone gate, travelling under the dark of night with nothing but a lantern. As he attempts to frighten off something making a noise in the darkness, he spies a well amongst the trees, and emanating from it, a glowing, golden light. As he peers over the edge, he smiles, climbs onto the rocks, and tumbles into the hole, splashing down at the bottom. He doesn't know that something, blending into the scenery, has awakened.

In the modern day, the old well, its sides smoothed by time, sits in the middle of a built-up town. As Colin heads to the bank, he passes by a missing poster without noticing it. He brings his lunch, chowder, up to his girlfriend while she's on her break at work. She's pregnant; he's out of work. Naturally, they have a lot to talk about, and a spot of ill fortune.

Answer: During the famine

Colin and Hailey argue about Colin's lack of initiative in trying to find a job, especially in light of the fact that she's pregnant. Colin worries that Gullion Springs is cursed-- the rest of the town certainly does-- and he hopes they can get their future daughter out while they still can, but Hailey says they turned out fine, having grown up there. They may not be rich, she notes, but they're in a good spot.

That evening, Colin has drinks with his friends at the local bar while they muse on the town's failures; many of the businesses in Gullion Springs are closed and people are out of work. The man at the bar says it's a problem and always has been. The town is a carcass and something is feeding on its bones: leprechauns. They're real, he says. Bloodsuckers. When the famine hit Ireland and everyone came to America, the leprechauns followed their food. They never left. The guys laugh this off, especially since it's just a bedtime story kids used to tell.

Answer: Gold

Colin and his friends lay out their plan over drinks, and part of this involves a new guy in the group-- Declan. As it turns out, Declan's job involves remote security monitoring, and that's what gave Liam the idea to use the feeds to help them rob the bank. He sweetened the deal by offering Declan a spot in their club, and it opened the door to the opportunity like that.

The catch is that they need Colin because Hailey works at Gullion Bank. Colin refuses from the jump though. He wants to start a clean life for himself. Besides, as he says, all cash is tracked digitally nowadays. Liam, having already considered this, tells him that they're in it for the gold in the vault instead. Liam knows a guy who knows that Gullion Bank is a middleman for a company that melts down gold, and because of the pandemic, they have over three years of gold sitting in the building. When Liam drops a value of $5,000,000, it's the only thing that gives Colin a moment of pause.

He's in, he says, but only if he can call the shots.

Answer: Finn

The boys meet once more before the heist, putting all the pieces in place before their plan to infiltrate the bank on Thursday night. To begin, they decide to take a Bluetooth speaker and have Finn toss it onto the roof of the bank, and during that time, Declan will call in a glitch, using the opportunity to give the full surveillance system a reboot. Finn will head into the bank, make a small withdrawal from Hailey, and ask to use the bathroom.

There are no cameras in the bathroom, so during the glitch, they effectively have an invisible man in the facility. All he needs to do is hide there and wait until the bank closes.

In the meantime, Declan can swap out the live feed for a prerecorded one from the previous night. The alarm will go off, but Declan will call in the fact that no one is on the feeds. Simple as that.

Answer: Catfight noises

Declan would still have to call in the Gullion Bank guard, Martin, who'll show up midway through an evening of putting himself into drag to make sure the place is locked and secure. Before he leaves, a noise'll be heard from the roof-- a couple of cats fighting, the sound of which is coming from the discarded Bluetooth speaker that Declan has cast a Youtube video into.

Once Martin is on the road, they're clear to head to the vault. Colin will use the codes, written amongst Hailey's belongings, to get them into the gold stash, and it'll be theirs for the taking. They'll load up, load out, and get out of Gullion Springs once and for all.

Answer: Her grandmother

When Thursday night finally rolls around, Hailey heads out from Gullion Bank and Martin closes up the building. Hailey leaves Colin at home to finish his resume while she goes out to her grandmother's place, but the minute she leaves, he packs up his things.

Hailey, meanwhile, makes it to her Grandmother June's place and spends the evening by her side. It's then that she receives a call from the security company indicating that the bank alarm went off, and after an officer was dispatched to find nothing amiss, they were still obligated to inform her of the incident. During the call, Grandma June starts to cough and asks after her medicine. Unfortunately for her, as Hailey says, it's not ready yet.

At the bank, as the guys follow through with their plan, Declan, still out in the van, realizes that swapping the footage to the previous night's feed is an odd way of going about things, and pondering it deeper, he realizes it makes him suspect number one when anyone discovers the heist. Naturally this makes him worried.

Answer: The vault door is already wide open

There's not much time to worry about pointing the finger over the plan. As the guys inside the bank get in behind the teller desk, Declan spies a figure behind the others in the camera footage, and they turn around to see a hooded figure standing in the corner of the room. Liam approaches to find it's just an eerie statue and laughs it off before they continue on. None of them see it move when their back is turned.

When they head back to the vault, they find it's already open. More interestingly, the vault door leads to a dark staircase headed down beneath the bank. The guys proceed.

In the van, Declan worries about the others' safety. Certain that someone is in the bank, he realizes he should help. That's when something attacks the van, tearing a hole into the back door and dropping a gem inside. As Declan goes to investigate it, an arm pulls him through the small, jagged opening.

Answer: False

Hailey, worried about her grandmother's continued diminishing health, decides to check in on the medicine, grabbing her keys and jacket and heading out with intent.

At the bank, the boys descend into the vault to find a dark and hollow chamber of wide, smooth-stoned corridors, professionally-braced as though it'd been an old mine in a former era. When the trio reach the end of the hall, what they find is a massive, metal cage with gold bars, coins, and treasures glowing and piled inside. They're easily able to grab the contents without even needing to open the door.

The guys ask Finn to go back upstairs and grab an extra light, but when he does, he returns back down the corridor only to be ambushed by a creature hiding in the ceiling. It leaps down upon him, biting his neck and leaving him to die.

Answer: A well

Hailey pulls up near the bank to discover Declan's large van waiting across the way, and when she stops her vehicle to check, she finds that something is wrong. Checking into the hole made in the back door, she doesn't appear to see the corpse hiding just inside.

Liam and Colin, meanwhile, start using their torch to break into the vault cage, not realizing that Finn has yet to return. As Liam casts his flashlight up, he finds that the cage is situated directly beneath the old well in the parking lot. A glimpse around the room calls his further attention to a number of skeletons. It's enough to convince him to rush in packing up the treasure...especially since something's making noise and passing through the dark of the hallway.

It turns out to be Hailey, who's arrived alone. Colin tells her she can still go home-- there's a dummy feed on the camera. It's too late for that though. A creature races into the room and she tells it to take Liam. He makes it as far as Finn's body, just down the hall, before it toys with him and kills him as well.

Answer: Human blood

Hailey explains to an incredulous Colin that what the leprechauns need-- herself included-- is human blood, otherwise they will not survive. They take from those with greed in their hearts, but only those who attempt to claim their gold. Over time, some stopped believing in leprechauns and their gold, so they had to resort to trickery to bring peoples' greed to the surface.

But the world changed too much; people stopped trading gold and the leprechauns started to starve. Half-breeds like Hailey never needed much, but full elders, like her grandmother, need more. The Earth is reclaiming them.

Hailey tells Colin that if he didn't touch the gold, then he's safe. Unfortunately, he pocketed a single coin. It's enough to seal his fate. He kisses Hailey goodbye and tells her to tell their unborn child that he loved her, before she bites into his neck, killing him.

That evening, Hailey returns to her Grandmother's with the medicine-- a serving of fresh blood. It may be enough to last them through the winter.
