Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Owner of the mortuary next door to the burger shop

Answer: Mort

It's Your funeral Home & Crematorium is located on the left side of Bob's Burgers in the opening credits. The shop on the other side changes in each episode, and usually involves a pun of some sort - to prepare us to spot the puns which Bob proudly displays on his menu. Mort, the owner, is a regular client, seen more often in the earlier episodes than in later series.

Mort made his first appearance in the first episode, 'Human Flesh', when Louise tried to drum up clients by convincing them that the burgers were made from a 'special ingredient' courtesy of the mortuary. He is probably the most sensible of Bob's friends, often restraining them in their most impulsive moments, but that doesn't keep him from joining in on the fun at appropriate times. In 'The Hauntening', he lets Bob and Linda use his mother's house to set up as a haunted house to scare Louse, and in 'Fraud of the Dead: Zombie-docu-pocalypse' he plays one of the zombies in Louise's film.
2. Responsible for pun-based hamburger creations

Answer: Bob Belcher

Bob's penchant for giving clever, punny names to his burger creations is a feature of the show - at least one is displayed on the chalkboard menu in each show. The first Burger of the Day was "New Baconings" (Comes with Bacon) - a reference to the grand re-re-re opening that had been established in the opening credits of the first episode. Later in that episode came The Child Molester (Comes with Candy), the first time Louise manages to slip an inappropriate name onto the board; its reference to pedophiles using candy to lure victims made her father more than a little uneasy - even more so when someone ordered one.

Bob's passion for cooking was developed as a child, and survived the experience of working with his father in the family restaurant before he set out on his own. While the restaurant specialises in hamburgers, and he indulges his creative urges in the daily specials, his passion extends beyond them, as we have seen in multiple Thanksgiving episodes, where he makes it clear that a proper Thanksgiving turkey is the highlight of his year (in 'Thanks-hoarding'), one which he is happy to extend beyond his immediate family to include friends, such as Teddy and Mort in 'Turkey in a Can'.
3. Super enthusiastic wearer of red glasses

Answer: Linda Belcher

Linda and Bob met when she accidentally hit him in the mustache ('Sliding Bob's') as she gesticulated excitedly. This exuberance is typical of her - she throws herself wholeheartedly into any activity in which she engages, often involving those around her whether they like it or not. She often gets excited about joining in on her children's projects, whether by making costumes, or coaching them, or just cheering enthusiastically. She is the family member most likely to randomly break into song.

While she may be flighty, Linda is always supportive of her family. she was the prime mover behind the establishment of the burger shop that was her husband's dream, and she has stayed in New Jersey with him rather than even trying to fulfil her childhood dreams of going to New York and becoming an entertainer. She and Bob clearly love each other deeply (if sometimes without really seeming to understand each other), but can also be highly competitive with each other. In the Season Easter-themed episode 'Eggs for Days', they each hide eggs for the three children to find, with the one who hid the last egg to be discovered to be named the winner. It goes awry when nobody can find that one last egg, and neither one of them is sure whose it was (turns out there were 71 eggs, so the 35 each that have been found leave it up in the air). As it starts to smell, Teddy ends up chasing a raccoon around in the crawlspace and the restaurant can't open for Beef Boom, the annual post-Lent time when apparently everyone and his dog eats red meat and the hamburgers just fly off the grill.
4. Regularly suffers pangs of unrequited love

Answer: Tina Belcher

Tina is the oldest Belcher child, whose black-rimmed glasses suggest she has inherited her mother's poor eyesight. She is in the eighth grade, hopelessly romantic but with minimal social skills, leading her to spend much of her time feeling rejected. While the main object of her slightly obsessive affections is Jimmy Pesto, Jr (whose father runs the pizza shop across the road), she regularly becomes infatuated with other boys who catch her eye, recording her feelings in erotic fiction. These crushes often provide plot points for an episode, but fade away quickly, and she is shown in ongoing friendships with the boys.

Tina still retains her childhood love of horses, including not only live ones ('The Horse Rider-er'), but also model horses ('The Equestranauts') or those on a carousel ('Wharf Horse'). She has a strong sense of morality, which she exercises in her role as hall monitor at Wagstaff School as well as within her family.
5. Musical genius (in his own mind)

Answer: Gene Belcher

As the only boy in the family, Gene seems feel compelled to out-gross his sisters, whether through public appearances clad only in his underwear or by way of burping and/or farting proficiently. He also sees himself as a musical genius - despite regularly demonstrating his almost total lack of skill on the keyboard which his almost-constant companion, as revealed in '"Itty Bitty Ditty Committee". Nevertheless, he has written a one-person show, a musical inspired by the 'Die Hard' franchise, which he performs in the episode 'Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl' - initially in the school basement as a protest against the selection of Courtney's show as the official school musical, before the two join forces.

Courtney is an on-and-off romantic interest of Gene's. At one point ('The Unbearable Like-Likeness of Gene') they were together because he thought her father might give him a headstart in the world of jingle writing. Later their relationship seemed more genuine, as they co-hosted the school's morning radio show ('The Gene & Courtney Show'), before deciding that they had to break up so that the radio show could continue its successful run.

Gene and Tina are often supportive of each other, often thrown together by Louise's machinations. Nevertheless, he has no compunctions about reading her diary, and sharing the details of her erotic friend-fiction with the others. Despite the fact that he is older than Louise, she is far more likely to be the one leading them into an escapade, with Gene advising a more cautious approach.
6. Cynical wearer of pink bunny ears

Answer: Louise Belcher

Louise may be the youngest of the three Belcher children (with the pink bunny ears to emphasize her childlike status), but she is definitely the leader, with Gene the most likely to be coaxed into following along, and Tina providing a voice of caution, even as she joins them. Her desire to provoke conflict (and then watch what follows) often gets the entire family into tricky situations, but can be just as useful in getting them out again. The siblings spend a lot of time together, often eating lunch together - Wagstaff seems to be unusual in having fourth-, sixth- and eighth-graders mingling freely.

Louise's sarcasm and aggression can be seen as a cover for her basic insecurities, despite the fact that she is clearly her father's favorite child. She got those bunny ears as a child who was afraid of preschool, but found courage when Linda knit her the cap. She is shown to be afraid of dentists ('The Kids Run Away'), and blood ('Pig Trouble in Little Tina'), and overly fixated on the security of her Kuchi Kopi nightlight ('Flu-ouise'). While she usually maintains an aloof distance in her relationships, allowing her to manipulate those around her more efficiently, she has found herself overwhelmed with surprising emotions, such as developing a crush on Boo Boo when she accompanies Tina to see him performing in concert ('Boyz 4 Now').
7. Artistically-inclined owner of three cats

Answer: Gayle Genarro

Linda's sister Gayle focuses more on the visual arts than the performing arts, but both share an enthusiasm that outreaches their actual talents. Gayle lives alone with her (ultimately) three cats, Jean Paw'd Van Damme, Pinkeye, and Mr. Business. She is a regular visitor to the burger shop, whether to share a new enthusiasm or to seek assistance in coping with some perceived tragedy - which can range from heartbreak following the end of yet another relationship that failed due to her eccentricity to the need for rent money. Yet the family ties remain strong.

'Gayle Makin' Bob Sled' sees Gayle both depressed because Mr Frond (her longest relationship ever, with two dates) had dumped her and nursing a sprained ankle; it becomes necessary for Bob to pick her up for the family Thanksgiving dinner. The trip is complicated by her insistence that the cats must come along, and his car has been snowplowed in; he decides to drag her in an inflatable pool through the snow, but only realises they are heading the wrong way when one of the cats has escaped. When Gayle spots the missing cat and leaps up to catch it, she has to admit that she was really only seeking attention with the faked ankle injury. She then has to drag Bob home, as he injures his back getting the cat out of a tree. Meanwhile Linda and the kids ruin the turkey, which would ordinarily be a devastating blow, but which this time is taken almost with equanimity.
8. Owner of the pizza shop across the street

Answer: Jimmy Pesto

Jimmy Pesto is Bob's nemesis, despite their children being friends. Jimmy Jr is the longest-lasting object of Tina's infatuation, while the twins Ollie and Andy are in Louise's class, and regularly participate in her schemes. Jimmy, on the other hand, is not only a professional rival of Bob's, but a personal one. He is in many ways Bob's opposite - Bob is a loving family man, Jimmy seems rather disdainful of his children and has no apparent wife; Bob is passionate about his cooking, for Jimmy it is just a business - he even changed his surname from Poplopovich to Pesto to give himself an air of authenticity.

His pizzeria is more successful than Bob's Burgers, and he never misses a chance to flaunt the fact. It is not due to better food - in 'Best Burger' his entry is clearly nowhere near as good as Bob's - but more to his sneaky, often underhanded, competitiveness. This is featured in 'Easy Com-mercial, Easy Go-mercial', when Jimmy steals the idea for Bob's Superbowl commercial, and in 'Burgerboss', when Jimmy achieves the high score in Bob's new arcade game, using the player name BOB SUX. This episode marked the first appearance of Darryl, the video games nerd who worked to help Bob regain the top score, and went on to become friends with the children despite being in seventh grade, not in classes with one of the Belchers.
9. Best client and family friend

Answer: Teddy

We first meet Teddy in the second episode of the series, 'Crawl Space', when his handyman skills are called on to free Bob from being trapped inside the wall while trying to repair a leak. Teddy is a lonely, divorced middle-aged man who seems keen to make himself part of the Belcher family, regularly looking after the place and/or the kids, and spending days sitting on his favorite stool consuming burgers while telling long-winded stories.

Teddy's family includes a sister and a mother who does not live nearby, but with whom he appears to be on friendly terms ('Thanks-Hoarding'); his father, with whom he had a strained relationship, seems to have died. His ex-wife treated him badly - the beanie he wears at all times is there to cover the back of his head, which she had described as looking like a bum. His attempts to establish relationships with appropriate women seem destined to fail, so he gains real satisfaction from being the 'fun uncle' for the Belcher kids. As seen in 'Uncle Teddy', this does not always go according to plan! But they all survived his attempt to show Jonas (Tina's crush at the time) up for only using Tina to get free burgers for his beach party, held while Bob and Linda were supposed to be away for the weekend on a meeting of the North Atlantic Burger Lovers, a weekend which also went catastrophically wrong.
10. Autocratic owner of the burger shop premises

Answer: Calvin Fischoeder

Calvin Fischoeder is an elderly businessman who seems to own half the town including (as well as the premises of Bob's Burgers) the adjacent rental property we see with new tenants at the start of each episode, Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria, the baseball stadium (and the team to go with it) and the Wonder Wharf amusement park which features in a number of episodes. He seems to be genuinely fond of Bob, in a half-hearted sort of way that does not prevent him from regularly threatening eviction if the rent is late.

As a member of the Babylon League, he involves Bob in a number of tricky situations, such as being his private chef at a secretive event on a mysterious island ('Escape from Which Island?') or being an additional member of the annual cutthroat gingerbread-house competition ('The Last Gingerbread House on the Left'). Despite the fact that Louise once described him (in 'burger Wars') as being 'one white cat away from being a supervillain', he seems not so much focused on control (especially when compared to his younger brother Felix) as unaware of the damage he does in pursuing his own whims.
