Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Hong Kong in the race's first leg, racers climbed towers created for a festival themed around which food item?

Answer: Steamed buns

Reaching Cheung Chau island midway through their first leg of the race (in Hong Kong), teams cracked open a Road Block task that had one team member joining the local festivities, specifically the Cheung Chau Bun Festival. While under normal circumstances, the bamboo towers for these would be adorned in buns, teams instead had to ascend to the top of these structures to retrieve a clue hanging from the uppermost portion.

Ana, Bernie, Han, Lori, Brett, Josiah, Carson, Mike, Bridget, Erika, Jasmin, Mark, Pops, and Lauren were selected for this task.
2. In Osaka, Japan, racers found themselves Intersected for a Road Block task that involved which of these?

Answer: Playing instruments

At Namba Hatch in Osaka, racers encountered the Intersection for the first time since "The Amazing Race 16", forcing teams to pair up until further notice to continue racing. It just so happened to coincide with this leg's Road Block task, a challenge that had racers learning how to join a taiko drum group and meaning that the two players (of the four racer groups) had to work together with the bigger picture to move on.

Ernest, Mark, Jack, Jonathan, Alyssa, Mike, Courtney, Jeff, Erika, Holden, Bernie, and Scott completed this task.
3. In Leg 3, the Road Block had the option for teams to attempt to collect the Express Pass. How many teams received this?

Answer: One

Visiting Kyoto, Japan in Leg 3, racers had to join locals in playing a game of kemari, the equivalent of playing hacky sack with a soccer ball. While this was treated as a traditional Road Block task and, as such, one player from each team had to attempt it, all competitors also had the chance to vie for the Express Pass, which involved BOTH team members completing the task at their own discretion.

The Express Pass ended up going to Jonathan and Ana who, leveraging their lead, persevered.
4. Leg 4's Road Block was enhanced by the Driver's Seat race mechanic. Which team was the only one to finish threshing a mere fifteen pounds of rice?

Answer: Melinda and Erika

Arriving in Bali, Indonesia in Leg 4, racers were aware that they would be facing a Driver's Seat for the first time, and there, one team would be able to determine the criteria for all teams finishing one task (which happened to be the Road Block). In this, racers had to hand-thresh rice of varying amounts as determined by Jonathan and Ana, and they selected themselves and Melinda and Erika to finish only fifteen pounds (while other teams received goals of twenty and twenty-five).

The catch was that Jonathan and Ana utilized their recently-earned Express Pass to skip this task altogether, meaning that only Melinda and Erika benefited from that selection.
5. On the coast of Bali, racers completing the Road Block in Leg 5 had to paddle out into the water on which of these?

Answer: Surfboard

Racers made their way to Nusa Dua Beach to close out Leg 5, travelling around the waterfront of Bali, Indonesia. Here, one member of each team had to select a surfboard and paddle out into the waves to join a group of more than a hundred surfers out at sea.

Then, searching amongst them, the racers needed to match the decal on their surfboard and bring that person back to shore to them. A correct match meant heading to the Pit Stop. Jack, Brett, Josiah, Pops, Han, Mike, Erika, Jonathan, and Scott were all picked to complete this exhausting challenge.
6. Leg 6, set in Dubai, had two Road Blocks.

Answer: True

Although, in most seasons of "The Amazing Race", legs featuring two Road Block had a rule wherein each member of the team had to participate, this one allowed for the opposite-- both Road Blocks could be done by the same team member, potentially helping teams achieve an even Road Block count going into the later legs of the race.

In Dubai, the first of these involved a tandem skydive over the city while the second had team members learning how to surf on an eFoil.
7. Both Leg 7 and Leg 8 took teams through Bulgaria. In which of these did team members consume yogurt as part of a Road Block task?

Answer: The first leg

There was a Road Block in each leg, but only the first one had teams out in rural Bulgaria, working on a farm to milk a sheep. Collecting half a litre of milk straight from the sheep, racers could trade it for a bowl of yogurt and enjoy the local treat before heading to their seventh Pit Stop.

In the second Bulgaria leg, racers spent most of the day in the nation's capital, Sofia, navigating the city on foot (and on public transit) while completing a series of cultural activities. The Road Block here involved having one racer learn the horo, the national dance of Bulgaria.
8. Racers feeling saucy in Leg 9 had to make Margherita pizza in what Italian city?

Answer: Naples

Racing around Naples in Leg 9, racers capped off a complicated leg through the city streets with a visit to Ristorante da Ettore where they joined local pizzaioli in making Margherita pizza from scratch, stretching the dough, adding the proper ingredients, and tossing it into the oven. If they could cook a proper pie, they could have it boxed, receive their clue, and race on foot to deliver it to the ninth Pit Stop at Castel Nuovo. Brett, Carson, Ana, Alyssa, and Han were selected for this task.
9. In Leg 10, teams completed a Road Block task in Strasbourg that also happened to be which of these?

Answer: A Head-to-Head

Racing to Pont Couverts in Strasbourg, France, racers were informed of this season's only Head-to-Head challenge wherein they would have to compete in water jousting on the River Ill. The catch was that this was also a Road Block task, meaning that only one member of each team would be able to complete the challenge, and any losing team member would have to wait for the next to try again. Han, Carson, Jonathan, Josiah, and Mark were selected for this task, and as Mark was the last person competing with no opponents left, he and Brett took the penalty.
10. Racers who completed the Road Block in Portugal in Leg 11 could not have completed how many prior Road Block tasks?

Answer: Six

In order to ensure that all teams had racers going into the final leg with balanced Road Block totals, the Road Block task in Portugal, found in the penultimate leg, had a mandatory requirement that anyone with six such tasks could not participate. This didn't mean too much for Carson and Jack (who played rock-paper-scissors to decide on Carson), but it forced Alyssa, Holden, and Jonathan to complete an archery task at Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira wherein they had to wear a suit of armor, climb upon a stationary steed, and use a bow and arrow to hit three moving targets within seven shots.
