Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many teams were eliminated in Hong Kong during the race?

Answer: Two

While most legs of the race ultimately only see one team eliminated per leg, the single leg of the race held in Hong Kong featured a new twist called the Fork in the Road. Similar to a Detour, it forced teams to choose one of two tasks, but in each, seven teams were competing for a win and to avoid elimination.

This meant that when racers hit the mats in the West Kowloon Cultural District, two of the fourteen teams would be sent home; it's what happened to Mark and Larry on the 'Dance' side and Jackye and Lauren on the 'Sing' side.
2. It was at Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka, Japan when teams discovered which of the following returning race mechanics was ahead of them in Leg 2?

Answer: Intersection

Leg 2 had the remaining twelve teams hit the ground running throughout different regions of Osaka, one of Japan's largest cities, and after a visit to Tsutenkaku Tower, they had to join with another team in an Intersection to complete their Road Block task. Teams also raced on foot to Dotonbori canal and either made mochi or entered a sumo ring for their Detour, but it all culminated in a Pit Stop finish at a relaxing temple pagoda north of the city.

The Intersection proved to be the undoing for father-daughter team Ernest and Bridget, who dropped from the near-lead to the last place position as a result.
3. What city did teams visit for their third leg of the race?

Answer: Kyoto

Remaining in Japan for Leg 3, racers boarded a shinkansen northeast out of Osaka to embark on a series of traditional activities in the former Japanese capital city of Kyoto. Here, racers had the chance to win themselves an Express Pass by having both team members complete the Road Block (Jonathan and Ana did this) and, for a Detour, teams risked their time learning how to use ninja weapons when, really, everyone ultimately ended up committing to learning origami.

At the end of the episode, nurses Courtney and Jasmin were eliminated.
4. Specifically, which of these U-Turns did teams contend with in the Ubud Monkey Forest in Bali, Indonesia (in Leg 5)?

Answer: Live Double U-Turn Vote

Seems like a lot of insult to injury, eh? Especially after a leg containing the Driver's Seat (which teams faced in Indonesia in Leg 4). The nine remaining teams headed through Bali in Leg 5 for a day of physical activities along the beach, but before they put themselves to work, they had to meet Phil in amongst the monkeys of the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Padangtegal. With everyone reunited, everyone was equalized and placed a vote, selecting one of two teams who would have to do both sides of the upcoming Detour.

The unlucky recipients of this were Scott and Lori and Jonathan and Ana.
5. The Pit Stop that teams found in Leg 6, depicted here, was in Dubai. This was the Museum of...which of these?

Answer: The Future

The race's sixth leg was a lengthy one, flying teams from Bali to Dubai for a series of challenges sending some team members high into the sky for a tandem skydive and others into the deepest indoor scuba dive in the world. While Carson and Jack took the Fast Forward and won the leg, other teams served royal tea at the Atlantis The Royal hotel on Palm Jumeirah and surfed on eFoils in front of the Burj Al Arab.

The Pit Stop was in front of the Museum of the Future, and the teams at the back of the pack fought out in a footrace that resulted in Pops and Jeff's elimination.
6. Racers visited the St. Kliment Ohridski Central Library in Sofia, Bulgaria in Leg 8, and there, they needed to use which of these items?

Answer: Cypher

Racers had two legs in Bulgaria in "The Amazing Race's" first-ever visit to this European nation, and after a gruelling trip through the countryside in Leg 7, racers spent the day roaming around Sofia, the nation's capital in Leg 8. Much of the day here was spent on-foot as racers were instructed to travel by public transit or by themselves, and the route sent them to Russian Monument Square, Sofia University, the Central Military Club, and Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (amongst other spots).

At the St. Kliment Ohridski Central Library, racers had to step into the library and translate a Bible verse from Cyrillic to English with a provided cypher. What they weren't told was how to use the device.
7. Teams delivered which of these to Naples' Castel Nuovo in Leg 9?

Answer: Pizza

The sunny city of Napoli was the setting for Leg 9 as the five remaining teams careened through narrow, city streets and piazzas for an Italian adventure. A couple of tricky Detour options involving details and knack led teams into a couple of unique delivery tasks, one hunting for grocery items for locals and the other, a Road Block, having teams make the perfect Margherita pizza.

At the end of the leg and a surprise non-elimination Pit Stop, racers had to take their fresh pizza and deliver it, on foot, to Phil, waiting on a back terrace at Castel Nuovo on the edge of the Bay of Napels
8. Leg 10 had teams racing up to the roof of the depicted cathedral, found in which city?

Answer: Strasbourg

Flying from Italy to Germany and then heading to the French city of Strasbourg by train, racers had a long day of complicated challenges and lengthy self-driving through the beautiful Alsace Region of France. In addition to partaking in water jousting on the River Ill and eating cheese in a Strasbourg fromagerie, racers had to climb the three hundred thirty steps to the roof of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg.

In the town of Scherwiller, racers checked in amongst the vineyards for a chance to keep racing, and Brett and Mark were sent home.
9. When visiting Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira in Leg 11, racers had to dress in which of these outfits?

Answer: Knight

Racers made their way around the Douro Valley in and around Porto, Portugal in the race's penultimate leg, and after driving themselves around for the day, they arrived at Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira for a Road Block task requiring that the participating racers dress in knight armor, proceed into the castle's plaza, and take part in an archery challenge. If the participants could hit three moving targets they could head back into Porto for one final run of tasks in hopes of hitting the mat and making it to the last leg.
10. Racers headed to Domino Park in the Little Havana neighbourhood of Miami in the final leg. Immediately prior to this, they completed what "Amazing Race" twist?

Answer: The Scramble

Making a return, the Scramble forced teams to visit several tasks in any order of their choosing in order to receive components of a clue that would send them to their next major destination. In this case, it meant learning to sail on an Optimus watercraft, learning to perform a hydroflight, and joining lifeguards in rescue drills in Biscayne Bay.

After these were done, racers could piece together their next destination: Domino Park on Calle Ocho in Little Havana. Then, they proceeded to the race's final task before heading to the Finish Line.
