Racers left a Pit Stop in Sofia, Bulgaria with the information that they would be booking flights to Naples, Italy using the Expedia app, and with that, the next day, they landed and hopped into waiting taxis that would take them to Stazione di Montesanto from there, they would be able to ascend Vomero Hill by funicular and search Castel Sant'Elmo for Il Capitano, who would hand them their next clue.

From here, racers had to make their way to Via dei Tribunali to locate the statue of Pulcinella. If they rubbed its nose, they'd receive their Detour clue in return.

Answer: Six

Racers who rubbed Pulcinella's nose had to make a choice for their Detour task immediately after, choosing either 'Mandolin' or 'Mozzarella' as they engaged in Neapolitan challenges.

In 'Mandolin', teams had to locate Liuteria Anema e Corde where they had to help instrument-makers by taking turns and adding the final pieces to a traditional mandolin to get their clue. In 'Mozzarella', however, teams instead had to find a terrace of Palazzo Marigliano and help cheesemakers braid mozzarella into proper treccia braids. Creating six proper braids got them their clue.

Only Jonathan and Ana went for the 'Mandolin' challenge. All other teams went for 'Mozzarella'.

Answer: Fish

After the Detour, teams were instructed to proceed on foot to Vico 2 Montesanto in the Montesanto Quarter to find their next cluebox, and there, they were given an Italian shopping list. Asking the locals for help, racers had to locate the several items required of them, purchase them using provided cash, and bring them back to the starting point where they could place them into a bucket and hoist it to locals waiting in their balconies above.

If racers could make their deliveries, they could head to Piazzetta Olivella, locate a waiting marked car, and head to their next destination.

Answer: Pizza

Racers would be able to ride in their marked cars before getting dropped off at Ristorante da Ettore, the site of their Road Block for this leg of the race, and this time, the participating teammate needed to be 'feeling saucy'. In this task, the selected racers (Brett, Carson, Ana, Alyssa, and Han) simply needed to make a Margherita pizza, creating it from scratch with local pizzaioli. If they could get the techniques down and properly cook their pie, they could deliver it to the Pit Stop.

Racers who properly completed the Road Block would be able to take their pizzas and proceed on foot to the next Pit Stop to make their last delivery of the day, checking in to find their placements, and that meant locating Castel Nuovo on the waterfront. Here, Jonathan and Ana managed to get through with Ana's perfect pizza, landing on the mat in first to win a trip for two, from Expedia, to Mexico City (and their third leg overall).

Han and Holden, who trailed from the early tasks this leg, hit the mat in last, but were surprised to find that this was the race's only non-elimination leg. As such, all five teams proceeded into Leg 10.

Answer: Frankfurt, Germany

To commence Leg 10 of the race, teams had to travel to a travel agency and book tickets on a flight to Frankfurt, Germany, and from there, they would take the train south to the border to find their next clue waiting in Strasbourg, France. After locating vehicles waiting at the train station, they could drive themselves to the Palace of Europe, locate the Council of Europe, and head inside for a task. For this, they simply needed to name four countries that they have raced in (thus far) in the Council of Europe-- Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, and France.

Then they could get their next clue.

Answer: Brett and Mark

Racers headed from the Council of Europe building to Pont Couverts and took a number for what would turn out to be a combined Road Block and Head-to-Head challenge. For this, each team chose one racer who would perform in a water jousting tournament against a fellow racer. With three men rowing their boat, the jouster had to use a lance to push their opponent off their watercraft and into the River Ill. If a racer lost, they would wait for the next team to try again.

The last team, Brett and Mark, failed to overcome this task and thus had to wait through a ten-minute time penalty to keep on racing.

Answer: Cheeses

Leaving the Road Block/Head-to-Head, racers made their way on foot to La Cloche à Fromage, a local cheese shop, where they had to memorize the names of nine different types of cheeses presented to them. Then, they needed to make their way to a nearby restaurant and recite the names to a local fromagier, matching them to their respective cheeses, to get their next clue. Alyssa and Josiah, who had to use their Express Pass before the end of this leg, elected to use it here.

After this task, racers headed to the roof of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg to find their next clue box.

Answer: Two

Teams left the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg with a Detour clue and directions to drive to the nearby town of Scherwiller for one of two final tasks for the leg. In 'Out to Dry', racers helped locals by taking a tub of laundry and washing it, by hand, in the nearby river.

In 'For the Birds', racers learned how to build a stork nest and have it placed on high for migratory birds. Both Alyssa and Josiah and Brett and Mark did the 'For the Birds' task; the rest did 'Out to Dry'.

Closing out the Detour, racers needed to drive themselves to Scherwiller's Table D'Orientation nestled amongst the vineyards of the region. Here, Carson and Jack cruised into a win, claiming their third of the season and winning a five-night Expedia trip to Helsinki, Finland. Though they made up ground during their Detour, Brett and Mark failed to locate the difficult-to-reach Pit Stop and checked in at the mat in last place, heading home in fifth place after ten legs.
