Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The gimmick this season saw tribes split into Davids and Goliaths. How many castaways were on each tribe at the start of the game?

Answer: Ten

Two boats of ten strangers each were brought out to the remote islands of Fiji in this thirty-seventh season of "Survivor" and both of them were split down tribal lines from the get-go, the first set being a group of Davids, known for overcoming obstacles and facing adversity, and the second being Goliaths, known for winning and capitalizing on their assets.

After receiving their buffs, the tribes faced their first challenge (with the Davids winning shelter-building equipment) and rafted themselves to their new homes...and into a cyclone.
2. This season's first Tribal Council, scheduled for Day 3, was cancelled.

Answer: True

After tribes left the first Immunity Challenge of the season in the middle of a storm, they were brought back to their respective camps by boat and the David tribe hit harsh sea waves. During one such wave, Pat, the oldest member of the David tribe, experienced a back injury so severe that he was brought to the shore for emergency care and sedated to numb his pain. Medical forcibly removed him from the competition for tests in case of a fracture in his back and, as such, the David tribe was not sent to Tribal Council, having lost a member. Jeff left them with flint (unusable due to the storm) and the game continued from there. Pat subsequently made a full recovery.
3. On Day 10, which castaway removed themself from the game due to injury?

Answer: Bi

During the Immunity Challenge held on Day 9, Bi sprained her MCL, injuring her knee and requiring fairly immediate medical attention upon returning to camp. Though medical looked at it and bandaged her up, Bi, a trained MMA fighter, had encountered the injury in training in the past and knew the consequence.

As a result of this, she voluntarily removed herself from the competition the next morning when the tribes gathered on the beach, leaving sixteen castaways in the game. Little did the other castaways know, there'd be another twist moments later.
4. On Day 10, castaways opened new buffs, subsequently forming how many tribes?

Answer: Three

Immediately after Bi's departure, Jeff gave the teams new wrapped buffs and informed them that there would be a massive shift in the game. What resulted was not two, but three tribes of five, each of which managed to split into three former Goliath players and two Davids. Goliath, still in purple, became Jabeni; David, still in orange, became Vuku; a new green tribe, starting from scratch on a new beach, was Tiva. One person left the beach with no buff, headed for Exile.

This was the only pre-merge reshuffling of the season.
5. Carl walked away from a tribal swap with no buff. Instead he was sent to Exile, rejoining the others after how long?

Answer: One day

Instead of drawing a buff, Carl drew nothing, discovering that as a result he would be sent to Exile Island until the next Tribal Council, joining the losing tribe. Ultimately, the next Tribal Council would be on Day 11, a day after the Tribal Swap on Day 10. Upon arriving at Exile, Carl received a note informing him of a potential advantage on the nearby beach, hidden in something that could be washed away with the tide. What he found, sealed in a marked coconut, was an Idol Nullifier which, when played in secret while voting at Tribal, could change the game.
6. On Day 18, the merge occurred, forming what final tribe?

Answer: Kalokalo

There were thirteen castaways left in the game when the three tribes merged on the brand-new Tiva beach on Day 18, uniting to form what would be known as Kalokalo and donning baby blue buffs for the individual stage of the game. With seven original Goliaths and six original Davids, there was an immediate worry that original tribal lines would reemerge.

In more recent divisions, five Vuku and five Tiva ran up against the three remaining Jabeni as potential swing vote candidates. At this point in the game, all remaining players would comprise the jury or be in the finale.
7. No Hidden Immunity Idols were used before the merge in this season.

Answer: True

Though several castaways searched aggressively for a little bit of safety, not many found it in the tribal portion of the game from Day 1 to Day 18. As early as day 1, there was searching, and as early as Day 2, Dan located one of the Hidden Immunity Idols at the Goliath camp. Davie would find the counterpart at the David camp on Day 4 while searching for food.

A third, at least the clue, was hidden at the newly-made Tiva camp and found by Dan on Day 14. He'd grab the idol itself at the Immunity Challenge on Day 15. None of them would be used until after the merge.
8. The Idol Nullifier was used on Day 25 to wipe out whose Hidden Immunity Idol, eliminating them from the game?

Answer: Dan

With the tension mounting going into Tribal Council on Day 25, six original Goliath players and five original Davids had to navigate their alliances in an effort to stay afloat. With Alec winning immunity, Angelina and Dan were the proposed targets for the Davids while Christian remained the go-to vote for the Goliath hold-outs. Dan used his Hidden Immunity Idol to give himself protection, but not only did Nick use his double vote advantage to steal Alison's ballot, Carl also used his Idol Nullifier, found on Exile Island, effectively removing Dan's protection through its preemptive use.

This, coupled with the Vote Steal, sealed Dan's fate, bringing down the Goliath once and for all.
9. By the end of this season, how many castaways won individual immunity?

Answer: Eight

In one of the widest varieties of immunity winners in the history of the show, the Kalokalo tribe saw eight different castaways win the necklace over the course of the final twenty-one days of the season. Of these eight, only one, Nick, would end up winning the necklace more than once (he'd win it three times by the end).

The only other season to reach this amount of people, to date, was "Survivor: South Pacific".
10. Who was the Sole Survivor of "Survivor: David vs. Goliath"?

Answer: Nick

After thirty-nine days, the final three competitors were Angelina and Mike, both original Goliaths, and Nick, the sole remaining David, all of whom swapped onto the Jabeni tribe and managed to navigate to the final day despite a difference in vote history. What the jury of ten ultimately determined was that Angelina didn't have enough suitable moves to justify the win, and while Mike managed a strong social game throughout the bulk of the season, it was Nick who excelled in the most balanced way, managing social strategy, challenge wins, big moves, and infiltration of the Goliath tribe, outlasting with the strongest story for the season's theme.

It's why, with a vote of 7-3-0, Nick was crowned Sole Survivor, winning the million dollar prize over Mike and Angelina in second and third respectively.
