Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where are the children going at the beginning of the episode?

Answer: Birthday party

It's Harold Pomroy's birthday party and the children have decided to give Harold a tarantula. (Morticia believes a black ribbon for the gift would be appropriate.) Gomez and Morticia are great parents: they remind the children that not everyone has the same advantages they do and to remain modest and not brag.
2. After the children leave, Gomez and Morticia reminisce about when they were first married. What did Gomez do?

Answer: Carried Morticia over the threshold, up through the house into their room

And he only dropped her once. Without the children, the couple go to feed the piranhas until Lurch brings the children home early.
3. Why were the children home early?

Answer: The children were called kooks

Lurch said there was "a small altercation." Harold said his family was better than the Addams family, who were a bunch of kooks. Fester believes this is vindicating his earlier statement that the Pomeroys were no good. This makes Gomez think about the white plaster ducks that are always outside the Pomeroy home - he never did trust them, after all.
4. What does Uncle Fester want to do to resolve the situation when the children arrive home?

Answer: Shoot him in the back

Gomez decides to send an insulting letter, but Morticia doesn't want to put their name on it so Fester suggests signing the insulting letter "a friend". But that doesn't really sound like a good idea, so Uncle Fester goes after his gun to shoot him (although which 'him' is unclear) in the back. Gomez gets onto this idea - it is Addams family honor, after all. But a duel is much more honorable, according to Gomez and Morticia. Uncle Fester doesn't like this idea when he learns that both parties get a bullet in a duel.

Just then, the Pomeroys pull up in their car and Gomez and Morticia decide to handle the situation.
5. Cecil B. Pomeroy and son Harold arrive at the Addams house and Cecil announces he's in what type of industry?

Answer: Oil

Cecil thinks he's a bigshot and believes that Gomez must have heard of him - he's in oil, after all. Gomez asks if it's the boiling kind, but Cecil corrects him that it's lubricating. Cecil has come to the house to show off Harold's black eye, which Pugsley did with his fists. 'All those karate lessons - wasted,' remarks Gomez.

But it turns out that it was little Wednesday who punched Harold! Gomez was impressed.
6. Apologies given, Morticia invites Cecil in for tea where Cecil admits he has some adjoining land with the Addams land. While having tea, we learn the story of the fish trophy with the leg of the man. Whose leg is in the fish?

Answer: Cousin Farouk

Cousin Farouk was a skin diver who dived out of a row boat to spear a rare species of eel. At the same time, a big fish was after the same eel. "The rest is taxidermy," Morticia added. Tea ends early when Cecil realizes the Addams children were playing with dynamite and gallows trap doors with his precious Harold. Cecil calls the Addams children creeps and Gomez kicks Cecil out of the house.
7. Having been insulted by Cecil Pomeroy, Gomez and Morticia decide to enlist the aid of a genealogist to prove how illustrious the Addams family is. Professor Sims writes that he will take on the project, so the pair decide to gather up some things for the professor. What is NOT something that Gomez initially gathered?

Answer: Noose used for Uncle Snitch

Morticia thought the first photo was of the Addams barn, but Gomez thought it was Aunt Blemish.

The next picture Morticia thought was of two people, but it was really Grandpa Slurp: he had buck teeth and a receding chin. "A handsome devil," according to Gomez.

The third picture was Cousin Clott, before he was electrocuted. Morticia said he was photogenic. Gomez couldn't forget the day the judge imposed sentenced and Morticia said he was an Addams to the end.
8. Why did Harold return to the Addams house?

Answer: The present escaped

The tarantula sawed its way out of the box, as we saw in one of the first scenes. It's interesting that Harold, who twice now was so upset by the Addams family, would return a third time just because the box containing his birthday gift was empty. Morticia told Pugsley to take Harold upstairs to choose another gift.
9. A call comes for Harold at the Addams house. It's Cecil - what did he call to tell Harold?

Answer: Be nice to the Addams family

Cecil tells Harold to tell the Addams family that it was all a mistake. The Pomeroys have land adjoining the Addams land and there might be oil on it! Cecil is on his way to the Addams house.

When Harold tells the children and Morticia that he's supposed to be nice and friendly, Morticia instructs the children to let Harold play with the octopus, but Harold says he wasn't told to be that friendly.
10. Cecil came to the house to try to buy the land from Gomez. What is the final price per acre that Cecil pays for the Addams land?

Answer: $3000

Cecil begins offering $1000 an acre for the worthless land, the same price Gomez paid for it. But Gomez, who was truly impressed by the Pomeroy family background, talks about the infamous people in Cecil's family tree. Cecil misunderstands and thinks Gomez is blackmailing him and keeps increasing the price he is willing to pay for the land, believing there is oil on the land. They settle on $3000 an acre.

Later on, Gomez tells Morticia the land was worthless - the land had been checked and rechecked. Morticia believed Cecil was just trying to apologize for calling the family kooks.
