Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Player 390, an acquaintance of Gi-hun who served in the Marines.

Answer: Park Jung-bae

Park Jung-bae previously appeared in the first series, when Seong Gi-hun goes to visit his cafe. He is a former Marine and also worked with Gi-hun at Dragon Motors. He and Gi-hun reminisce about their time there and he recalls refusing a bribe to break the strike after watching Gi-hun crying for his mother in his sleep. Between games, he and his wife got divorced. He is annoyed that Gi-hun never got in touch about his mother dying.

Jung-bae played baseball as a child and was an excellent pitcher, and he puts his skills to good use when throwing stones in the Six-Legged Pentathlon, where he is on a team with Gi-hun, the Front Man, Dae-ho and Jun-hee. In 'Mingle', when everybody is forced to pair off in the final round, he and the Front Man go into the same room and the Front Man snaps the neck of the man in there. Jung-bae is perturbed, but never gets round to telling Gi-hun about it, partly out of loyalty as the Front Man protected him.

Jung-bae joins Gi-hun's rebellion and his military training pays off, as he is able to snipe several guards; however, when he and Gi-hun run out of ammunition, they are forced to surrender and the Front Man shoots Jung-bae dead in front of Gi-hun, telling him that this is what he gets for trying to play the hero. Gi-hun subsequently becomes catatonic with grief and is handcuffed to his bed at the beginning of the third season. The bodies of Jung-bae and the other dead rebels are hung up on display as a warning.
2. Player 388, a man who claims to have been in the military, but is unable to fire a gun properly.

Answer: Kang Dae-ho

Kang Dae-ho (Kang Ha-neul) is one of the X voters. He makes a very big point of saying he was in the Marines - he even has a tattoo - and bonds with Jung-bae over this, but it is later revealed that he joined the Social Service and, unlike Jung-bae and Hyun-ju, was not in a combat role (he was actually in the Social Service). Yeong-sam even makes a sarcastic remark about him not being a real Marine. Despite Gonggi being a game traditionally played by girls, Dae-ho volunteers to play it for Gi-hun's team in the Six-Legged Pentathlon and wins easily.

Dae-ho joins Gi-hun's rebellion, but reveals that he is not what he seems when his firing is erratic compared to Hyun-ju and Jung-bae, both experienced shooters. He is tasked with going back to the dorm to get more ammunition, but freezes and panics on his way back, and throws his walkie-talkie away when Hyun-ju tries to contact him. Hyun-ju goes back to the dorm and finds Dae-ho cowering in a corner.

In Season 3, Gi-hun is furious with Dae-ho, blaming him for Jung-bae's death. When Gi-hun is put on the Seeker team and Dae-ho is made a Hider, Gi-hun hunts him down and the two fight. Dae-ho admits he lied about being a Marine, but also provokes Gi-hun by arguing that he is as much to blame because the rebellion was his idea. Gi-hun strangles him to death in a rage. He tries to kill himself out of remorse, but is knocked out by the Pink Soldiers before he can.
3. Player 230, a rapper and YouTuber who was scammed by Player 333.

Answer: Thanos

Thanos, aka Choi Su-bong (played by an actual K-Pop musician, Choi Seung-hyun aka TOP from Big Bang), is one of the victims of Player 333/Lee Myung-gi's Bitcoin scam, and both he and Nam-gyu (Player 124), who Thanos calls 'Nam-su', bully him because of it. Thanos is loud and eccentric and often speaks in English, calling his allies 'my boy'. He was suicidal when the Recruiter found him and joined the game to make his mother proud. Thanos leads a group which also contains Nam-gyu, Park Min-su, Se-mi (Player 380) and Gyeong-su (Player 256). However, the alliance does not last; in 'Mingle', Thanos kicks Gyeong-su out of the team when the players have to form quartets, and he is shot.

Thanos smuggles party drugs into the game in a crucifix necklace. He takes them frequently and they make him behave erratically; for example, in 'Red Light Green Light', he causes Mi-na's death by telling her she has a bee on her neck, which makes her flail in panic and become the first casualty of the game, and pushes players in front of him, causing them to be picked up by the motion sensors and shot dead. He also provokes the Front Man into attacking him. He and his group are O voters and he and Nam-gyu are angry with Min-su when Min-su changes his vote to X.

The players are given packages of gimbap and a fork, which concerns Gi-hun as forks are not normally used in South Korea, and he worries that the forks are supposed to be weapons and that a brawl might occur. Sure enough, a brawl breaks out in the men's toilets and Thanos and Myung-gi fight. Thanos tries to strangle Myung-gi, but Myung-gi stabs him with a fork, killing him. After Thanos dies, Nam-gyu steals his necklace and becomes addicted to the drugs.
4. Player 100, an old man with a debt of ten billion won.

Answer: Im Jeong-dae

Im Jeong-dae (Song Young-chang) has the highest debt at ten billion won after taking out a loan and failing to repay it, and because of that, he becomes one of the biggest supporters of the games continuing, since the more players are eliminated, the more money will be left. He and Kim Young-sam, another O voter, lead the O voters in a chant of 'One more game!' When several X voters are killed during the rebellion, he congratulates Gi-hun for putting the O voters at an advantage.

In 'Hide and Seek', Jeong-dae is one of the Hiders and fakes his death, covering himself in blood, to put Nam-gyu and Myung-gi off attacking him. He teams up with Seon-nyeo and makes it to the exit, but pushes her back into the room and abandons her. Despite his age, he survives the Jump Rope game and becomes one of the finalists, leading a group which consists of him, Myung-gi, Kim Gi-min (Player 203), Lee Seung-won (Player 336), Kim Yun-tae (Player 353) and Player 039, who the other group members bully and offer up as a sacrifice.

The Front Man gives Gi-hun a knife and the chance to kill Jeong-dae and his group, but Gi-hun decides not to. Jeong-dae's group plot to kill Player 222, despite Player 222 being a baby; however, Myung-gi outs himself as the baby's father and turns on the group. He and Gi-hun fight the group, with Gi-hun stabbing Gi-min and pushing Seung-won and Yun-tae to their deaths. Although Jeong-dae begs for his life and is willing to sacrifice his other team mates, Myung-gi pushes him off as well. Player 039, whose leg is broken, rolls off the side to his death and leaves Gi-hun and Myung-gi to fight each other.
5. Player 120, a transgender woman who hopes to pay for her sex reassignment surgery.

Answer: Cho Hyun-ju

Cho Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon) is trans and is fired from her military job with the Special Forces, and disowned by her family and friends because of it; many of the players also shun her over it and refuse to have her on their teams. Ironically, the team that rejected her in the Six-Legged Pentathlon are all shot for not completing their games in time, while Hyun-ju's team make it through; Hyun-ju helps the shy Kim Young-mi play Ddakji and when Syeon-nyeo panics while playing with the top, Hyun-ju slaps and threatens her, and it works. Hyun-ju herself plays Jegi at the end.

Hyun-ju votes O as she needs the prize money for her gender reassignment surgery; however, she has a pang of conscience when she hears Jun-hee crying in the bathroom, and becomes very protective towards her. She befriends Young-mi, who calls her 'unnie' ('big sister') and takes it badly when Young-mi is unable to make it into their room in time in 'Mingle', and is shot while peering through the letterbox after Myung-gi enters and slams the door. Hyun-ju is angry with Myung-gi, but he argues that she would have gotten them all killed if she had gone back for Young-mi.

Hyun-ju joins Gi-hun's rebellion and puts her military skills to good use, but is forced to go back to the dorm to find out where Dae-ho is, and is stopped by the Pink Soldiers and forced to surrender. Although she is willing to die fighting, Geum-ja persuades her not to. In Season 3, Hyun-ju teams up with Geum-ja and Jun-hee in 'Hide and Seek'. She is a Hider and finds the exit, after taking the other women's keys while Jun-hee is giving birth. She goes back to get Jun-hee and Geum-ja, but this causes her death; she is stabbed in the back by Myung-gi, to Jun-hee's horror.
6. Player 222, a pregnant woman who gives birth during the games.

Answer: Kim Jun-hee

Kim Jun-hee appears early on. She is the ex-girlfriend of Lee Myung-gi and the mother of their baby, is another victim of Myung-gi's cryptocurrency scam which left her broke, and is heavily pregnant when she enters the games. She votes X to save her baby's life, but to her disgust, Myung-gi votes O (although he later changes it to X because of her). Throughout the games, she distrusts Myung-gi and shows a clear dislike for him; however, she also shows concern for him and does not want him to get involved in Gi-hun's rebellion.

Jun-hee befriends Geum-ja, who shares her food with her and later helps deliver her baby. In the Six-Legged Pentathlon, she joins Gi-hun's team and wins at Ddakji. She later breaks down crying in the toilet, as she is scared of what will happen to her unborn baby. In 'Hide and Seek', she is originally a Seeker but swaps with Myung-gi and becomes a Hider. She trips on the stairs, injuring her ankle. While hiding with Geum-ja and Hyun-ju, she gives birth; however, her trust in Myung-gi is shattered when he kills Hyun-ju without realising who she is.

During the jump rope game, Jun-hee gives her baby to Gi-hun, who carries her across the bridge. She is one of the last players to cross and realises that she will not be able to make it across the bridge as her ankle is badly swollen. She shows Myung-gi her ankle injury and he realises he cannot help her. Gi-hun is willing to go back to help Jun-hee, but Jun-hee asks him to take care of her baby and jumps to her death. The baby is then given Jun-hee's number and becomes a participant in the games, and later wins by default after Myung-gi falls to his death and Gi-hun sacrifices himself. The Front Man gives Jun-ho the baby to raise.
7. Player 044, a woman who claims to be a shaman and forms a cult.

Answer: Seon-nyeo

Seon-nyeo (Chae Kook-hee) claims to be a shaman who can see the future and has visions about the other players (some of which turn out to be true). In the Six-Legged Pentathlon, she joins Hyun-ju's team and picks the spinning top, although she becomes hysterical and Hyun-ju has to slap it out of her. However, she becomes separated from the team during 'Mingle' and curses them, telling Hyun-ju she will 'join Young-mi in death soon'. She amasses a group of followers consisting of Park Mi-hwa and Players 009, 306 and 447, all of whom vote O along with her (Mi-hwa had originally voted X, but later changes her vote).

When a catatonic Gi-hun is handcuffed to his bed, Seon-nyeo taunts him over the deaths of the players in the rebellion, and he snaps and attacks her. All of the cult members, save Player 306, are killed in 'Hide and Seek' when Seon-nyeo abandons them and leaves them to be slaughtered by Nam-gyu and Myung-gi, who are trying to kill as many Hiders as possible. She teams up with Jeong-dae, who has the keys she needs, and reaches the exit, but he double-crosses her, steals one of her keys, and shoves her back through the door. She curses him in response. A drugged-up and hallucinating Min-su finds her and when she antagonises him, he mistakes her for Nam-gyu taunting him over Se-mi's death and kills her.
8. Player 125, a timid young man who becomes addicted to drugs.

Answer: Park Min-su

Park Min-su (Lee David) is a member of Thanos' group and forms a friendship with its only female member, Se-mi (Player 380). He calls her 'noona', an honorific that men use meaning 'older sister' although she tells him in private that she is actually younger than him and only lied about her age to get Thanos to take her seriously. Min-su abandons her in 'Mingle', but the two make up afterwards when Min-su votes X despite being pressured to vote O by Nam-gyu and Thanos. Unfortunately, she is murdered by Nam-gyu during the brawl at night while Min-su watches from his bunk, too afraid to intervene, although he does throw a glass bottle at Nam-gyu.

During 'Hide and Seek', Min-su finds Thanos' necklace and steals it, and starts taking the drugs, which cause him to hallucinate. When he runs into Seon-nyeo, he hallucinates that she is Nam-gyu and kills her. He later changes his vote to O so he can get his revenge on Nam-gyu for Se-mi's murder. In Season 3, he finally gets his own back on Nam-gyu during 'Jump Rope' by stealing the last pill and throwing the crucifix onto the bridge, causing Nam-gyu to be knocked off to his death when he tries to retrieve it.

Min-su makes it into the final round, but is unable to enjoy his fancy dinner due to the effects of the drugs, and isolates himself from the others. In the final game, Min-su is suffering from withdrawals; at Myung-gi's suggestion, Jeong-dae's group plot to eliminate him first as he is an easy target, before getting rid of Gi-hun and the baby. A crazed Min-su lashes out at Myung-gi and Myung-gi pushes him off the platform with a metal pole. Before Min-su dies, he hallucinates Se-mi smiling and holding her hand out to him.
9. Player 149, an old woman who owns a restaurant and enters along with her son.

Answer: Jang Geum-ja

Jang Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim) is one of the older players and enters along with her son, Park Yong-sik/Player 007, a compulsive gambler, to help get him out of debt. She is divorced from her abusive husband and owns a restaurant. Yong-sik, like Gi-hun in the previous season, owes money to loan sharks and is at risk of losing his organs as payment. The two are very close and stick together throughout the games, though Geum-ja is disgusted when Yong-sik's gambling tendencies get the better of him and he votes O. She stops Yong-sik joining Gi-hun's rebellion.

Geum-ja befriends both Hyun-ju - although she is confused by her at first - and Jun-hee, and comforts Jun-hee in the toilet when she is upset. She persuades the Pink Soldier on duty to let her use the toilet by guilt tripping them and claiming she is incontinent. She invites her new friends to her restaurant once the games are over. In the Six-Legged Pentathlon, she plays Gonggi, which she played with bullets in the Korean War; she also sneaks a knife into the games, hidden in her hairpin. In Season 3, when Jun-hee gives birth during 'Hide and Seek', she cuts the baby's umbilical cord with it.

Yong-sik is a Seeker and panics as he has not killed anyone, threatening Jun-hee's baby, but Geum-ja stabs him to stop him. Despite her pleas, Yong-sik is shot for not killing anyone. After failing to convince all the survivors to end the game, Geum-ja talks to Gi-hun and begs him to protect Jun-hee and the baby, which he promises to do. She then commits suicide by hanging herself.
10. Player 246, an artist whose daughter has cancer.

Answer: Park Gyeong-seok

Park Gyeong-seok (Lee Jin-wook) is an artist who first appears in an amusement park, looking for his sick daughter Na-yeon, who has gone backstage. Both he and Kang No-eul, the mascot to whom Na-yeon gave a drawing, end up in the games: him as a player, so he can pay for his daughter's treatment, and her as one of the Pink Soldiers. She recognises him during 'Red Light, Green Light'.

Gyeong-seok saves Hyun-ju and Young-mi in 'Mingle' by joining them to form a trio, and drags Hyun-ju into a room in the final round when Young-mi dies. He is one of the X voters who joins Gi-hun's rebellion. When he runs out of ammunition, he surrenders, but a Pink Soldier shoots him. However, the Pink Soldier is No-eul and she makes sure to injure him non-fatally. After having him treated, she sneaks him out of the game by disguising him as a Pink Soldier, and he is subsequently the only legitimate player to survive the game (since In-ho is the Front Man and Jun-hee's baby inherited her number).

No-eul stays behind after the Masked Officer threatens Na-yeon, and she orders Gyeong-seok to escape the island by speedboat. While Gyeong-seok is escaping from the island, he runs into Hwang Jun-ho, who takes him on board and alerts the Coast Guard about the island. Back on the island, No-eul forces the Masked Officer to delete Gyeong-seok's data. Gyeong-seok never learns the identity of the Pink Soldier who saved him, and in the final episode, he returns to his job at the park.
