Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Max awakens from a nightmare to hear which of these outside?

Answer: Police sirens

Max wakes up from a nightmare and heads to the kitchen to take medication for her ongoing headaches. When she does, she hears the sirens of police cars heading across the street to the Munson residence. Four of them pull up out front to find Eddie's uncle out front. As it turns out, he found Chrissy's mutilated body in the living room, right where it was left from the night before. The officer leading the investigation calls it in and claims that he's never seen anything like it before. He doesn't realize the line's being listened to.

A plane, meanwhile, lands in California and the Byers eagerly await Mike's arrival. El spots him disembarking and after some awkward greetings, they head out from the airport. None of them notice as Murray lands as well, taking his own taxi to the Byers house in a rush.
2. Steve and Robin both have jobs working at which local business?

Answer: Video store

At the video store in Hawkins, Steve and Robin talk about Robin's crush, Vicky, since Robin can't stop thinking about her. Robin wishes that the two of them could combine themselves; she knows what she wants but can't ask for a date while Steve doesn't know what he wants and goes on too many. When Robin turns on one of the store's TVs to put on a movie, the two of them catch a news report about a dead Hawkins High School student.

Lucas, meanwhile, wakes up hungover after partying through the night (having just won the championship basketball game). After throwing up in the bathroom, he and the rest of the team discover the news about the murder. It's then that the police pull up out front.

Nancy and her school news crew watch the news report as well. She and Fred, her fellow editor, head out to the scene to investigate.

Max shows up at Dustin's place and lets him know the scoop; she saw Chrissy there when she peeked in upon the cops' arrival. Worse, she saw Chrissy arriving the night before with Eddie. His name isn't in the news, she says, but he has to be suspect number one. Dustin refutes this; Eddie was the only guy in high school who was nice to him and Mike when they got to high school. The catch is that Max didn't tell the cops what she saw, and it's because something else happened.
3. In the blast under Starcourt Mall, Hopper was teleported to another destination.

Answer: False

When Murray arrives at the Byers house he reads the ransom note from the Russian doll, he worries that it's bad news, but Joyce is confident Hopper is trying to send her a message through someone that can be trusted. Murray reminds Joyce that she saw him die...but she admits she never saw a body. If he is alive, in the furthest chance, Murray reasons that the KGB has him, and that's the worst case. It could be a ruse to capture Joyce as well. The only way to find out the truth is to call the number, but they're going to do that Murray's way.

When Joyce was forced to close the gate beneath Starcourt Mall several months ago, she believed that Hopper died in the blast that resulted. He didn't. Instead, he leaped off the platform and towards the gate, missing it by a great deal but avoiding significant injury. He would awaken long after the blast.

When Hopper woke up, he inadvertently crawled into the arms of the Russians who, after scooping him up, took him in for questioning under the most severe circumstances. What resulted was months of inhumane torture in a Soviet prison camp.
4. When Mike arrives in California, where does El decide to take him first?

Answer: A roller rink

Max lets Dustin in on what she saw the night before. After Eddie and Chrissy went into the Munson trailer, she claims, things got weird. She went inside after feeding the dog and the television started cutting out. And then the lights started flickering. When she heard the screams from next door she went to the window to see Eddie hopping into his vehicle and driving off in a rush. Looking back on it, Max realizes that Eddie was terrified of something. Maybe something else killed Chrissy, they reason. Only one person knows what happened, and they need to find him.

Across town, the police interrogate Jason Carver, head of the basketball team and Chrissy's boyfriend, but he was with the team, celebrating all night. The others can attest to his alibi. The conversation gets heated as the pieces fall into place for Jason. He worries that Eddie hurt Chrissy, and when the cops let him go, he walks off into the woods and breaks down.

In the meantime, Will and El bring Mike to Rink-o-Mania, a disco roller rink and gaming center El considers to be the most fun. When Mike's out of earshot, Will asks why El is lying about everything. She's trying to impress, but she's not being honest with their friend. None of them notice as Angela and her friends come in, spot them on the rink, and decide to have a little cruel fun with them for spring break.
5. Jonathan received an acceptance letter to which of these?

Answer: Lenora Hills Community College

Max and Dustin arrive at the video store and Dustin makes it their impromptu home base while they get to the bottom of Eddie's whereabouts. While Steve and Robin fuss over the pair invading the store on its busiest day, Max fills them in on the situation.

Nancy and Fred, meanwhile, arrive at the trailer park moments after bickering. Nancy, frustrated that Jonathan isn't there by her side, has to settle for Fred on the notepad, and worse, they're not all too convincing towards the police officer guarding the entry road. As the pair try to sweet talk their way in, the police officer appears to transform before Fred's eyes, reminding him of the accident the year prior in which he got his scar and left another boy to die. It appears, however that this is just a hallucination.

In California, Jonathan and Argyle head out to practice their golf drives out at an old junkyard. Jonathan is remiss; he thought Nancy would be on the flight from Indiana. He's almost relieved because it gives him more time to avoid telling her about his acceptance letter-- he got into Lenora Hills Community College and not Emerson, like her. He can't leave his family behind to follow her dream and he can't let her live in California to compromise for him. Argyle convinces him not to slow-motion-break-up with her.
6. According to 'Enzo', if Joyce wants to see Hopper alive again, she needs to get $40,000 to what location in two days?

Answer: Nome, Alaska

At Rink-o-Mania, El is ambushed by Angela and her gang while she, Mike, and Will enjoy milkshakes. They grab El and take her to the rink to skate together, much to her anxiousness, and Will can only watch on as they grab a videocamera. Will reveals to Mike that El's been lying to him about having friends as the other kids ridicule her and set her up for a humiliating prank. By the end of the next song, she's on her back on the roller rink, covered in chocolate milkshake.

Murray uses his tech-savviness to route Joyce's telephone line, allowing her to call the number on her note from, allegedly, Durham, North Carolina. She gets 'Enzo' on the other line, and he informs her, tersely, that she'll need to bring $40,000 to Yuri's Fish 'n' Fly in Nome, Alaska in two days if she wants her friend back. And no, Hopper can't come to the phone.

Hopper isn't with 'Enzo' though; he's barely breathing, having been put through intense torture and been sent to Kamchatka.

In Indiana, a helicopter touches down and Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan is escorted to Chrissy Cunningham's autopsy.
7. From a lead, Max discovers that Eddie's drug dealer goes by which nickname?

Answer: Reefer Rick

Jason, certain that Chrissy would never have sought out Eddie for drugs, pulls his own plan together, to hunt down the Munson boy and make him pay for sacrificing his girlfriend as part of a satanic cult-- The Hellfire Club. Lucas tells him otherwise though; Hellfire is just a D&D club. Lucas claims that his sister plays, but the Tigers hypothesize that fantasy, for the wrong people, becomes reality quite fast. If Eddie's mind is still in the game, he'll kill again. They can stop him.

At the video store, Max seems to get a lead from all the group's calling. According to one contact, Eddie gets all of his drugs from a guy named Reefer Rick. The problem is that no one knows where he lives. Steve suggests that the cops would know Reefer Rick's address, but Robin realizes that they have a computer system that might give insight. Checking into the video rental records on hand, they deduce that of the twelve Ricks in the system, one of them (Rick Lipton) has movies checked out that line up with drug usage, and he has a remote enough address worth checking out. They close up shop and head out.
8. Eddie's uncle believes that Victor Creel is responsible for murdering Chrissy. What, according to him, was Creel's fate during his first murders in the 1950s?

Answer: He was sent to an asylum

Nancy and Fred canvass the trailer park in an attempt to get any scoop they can, but no one is willing to tell them anything. The only one who'll speak at all is Eddie's uncle, Wayne, who refuses to gossip from the jump, but seeing she's from a small publication and she's willing to hear his side of the story, he relents.

Wayne tells Nancy that Eddie may look dangerous, but a crime like the one he's being accused of isn't in his nature. Chrissy's body, he says, was destroyed by someone made of pure evil. He believes that it had to be Victor Creel. Nancy would be too young to have hear the name, but back in his day, Victor Creel lost his mind and killed his whole family-- took their eyes and destroyed them. The catch is that Victor Creel was locked away in an asylum. Unless something happened, Wayne believes he's still in there.

Across the trailer park, Fred hears the tolling bells of a grandfather clock peal from the woods nearby. Nancy realizes he's missing and goes to look for him, but not before Fred comes across the clock...and a casket...out in the forest. Fred turns to find himself surrounded by a funeral procession of ghouls who, pointing their gnarled fingers, accuse him of murder.
9. In anger, El hits Angela in the face with which of these?

Answer: A rollerskate

Not knowing that Hopper's fate has placed him in a camp deep in the most forbidding reach of Russia, Joyce and Murray keep playing the recording of their call over and over, trying to hear voices in the background of Enzo's side of the conversation. Joyce plays the tape on Jonathan's tape deck and cranks the volume loud enough for Murray to hear and determine that Enzo may actually be a cop or a guard. In any case, it's enough verification for them to determine that Hopper is in a prison of some sort, and if they have the money, they can get him out.

At Rink-o-Mania, Mike and Will try to find El but their search results in an argument where Will is blamed for not being forthcoming about El's problems, and Mike is blamed for making Will a third wheel for the day. At the end of their talk, Will tries to get any sort of affirmation that they're still friends, but the talk ends uneasily.

El's actually hiding in the employee office. When she hears Angela still making fun of her outside, she decides to confront the bully and ask for an apology in front of Mike. Seeing that there's no resolution to be had there, El grabs a rollerskate and hits Angela in the face with it.
10. It's which of these that leads Dustin and Eddie to call the powerful being from the Upside Down 'Vecna'?

Answer: The trance that he places his victims under

It's nighttime by the time Dustin, Max, Steve, and Robin arrive at Reefer Rick's place and they're quick to find that no one is home. It's Max who spies the shed out back, and when they find it unlocked, they head inside to find signs that someone's been there. Poking around is enough to get Eddie to reveal himself, and he leaps out, holding Steve with a broken bottle to his neck. Dustin leads the conversation, calming Eddie down enough to relent and tell what he saw the night before. He didn't know what to do, so he fled. The others tell him about the Upside Down and admit that they believe him. The other side still bleeds into Hawkins. Dustin and Eddie, realizing that Chrissy was in a trance when she died, determine that she may have been under the thrall of a powerful being, a dark wizard, not unlike Vecna from their Hellfire Club "D&D" game.

At the trailer park, Nancy realizes that Fred's gone, and after it gets too dark, she has no choice but to tell the police. The truth is that Fred's still out in the woods, running from the things in his hallucination. When he reaches the road he finds the flaming wreck from the night he caused the accident, and in fear he stumbles back into a grave. The undead creature that stalked Chrissy emerges from the darkness and it tells Fred to join him. In the real world, Fred levitates in the middle of the road and, like Chrissy, his body is broken and left to be found.

In the Upside Down, in the attic of an old house, the being rises from the floor having claimed Fred for himself. Outside the boarded-up window, red lighting flashes, and bat-like creatures circle the skies overhead.
