Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The facility containing The Nina Project is in which U.S. state?

Answer: Nevada

Still fleeing Lenora Hills, Mike and the Byers boys, riding in Argyle's pizza delivery van, try to stop the blood still pouring from Agent Harmon's bullet wound. In his dying breaths he tells the boys that they need to get to Nina to find Eleven, and he has the boys pull a pen from his pocket, presumably to write it down. He dies before this can happen.

Lt. Colonel Sullivan, tearing apart the Byers household wth his men, interrogates the still-alive Agent Wallace.

Twelve hours before this, El, woke up in the desert while Dr. Owens looked onward at their destination: Ruth, Nevada. Pulling up to the inconspicuous entrance to their facility, the two of them descended into what appeared to be a remote bunker buried deep underground. In reality, the tunnels here were ICBM silos at one point. They've been re-outfitted to support El.

When Dr. Owens brings El before NINA, there's an unexpected reunion as she's met by Dr. Brenner who reveals that he wants to work together with her to help bring her powers back. El isn't accepting of this idea-- not from the jump-- and she makes an attempt to flee. Unfortunately, that's not in Dr. Brenner's plan.
2. Upon returning to the Kamchatka prison, Hopper is placed into solitary confinement.

Answer: False

In Kamchatka, a recaptured Hopper is beaten to within-an-inch-of-his-life by the guards and he's informed that he will, subsequently, face more pain than before. They drag him back to the cells passing through a bloody central courtyard and he's surprised, on the other end, to be locked up with Antonov who, as it turns out, was betrayed by Yuri.

In Alaska, Yuri finally makes the last repairs to his aircraft while Joyce and Murray wait tied up as prisoners inside. Joyce tries to appeal to his emotions to avoid being flown over the Iron Curtain, but Yuri doesn't seem to have any interest in helping; he's making too much money off the two of them. The three of them fly off into the snow. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
3. Which of these features allows Nancy to see Victor Creel's house in Max's drawings?

Answer: A stained glass window

Eddie, searching for food at Rick's house, pores through the cupboards before calling Dustin who, after an eventful prior day, is asleep with the walkie talkie not on-hand. It's Nancy who picks up the walkie and she offers to make sure he gets a care package of food as soon as they can muster it.

When Nancy looks over at the couch she finds that Max has disappeared at some point in the night, and after waking Dustin to help they head upstairs to find that not only is she fine, but her parents are already up, making breakfast while Max is seated at the table listening to music and drawing, attempting to depict what she saw in the Upside Down.

While Dustin muses that perhaps Max got into Vecna's dream world like he got into hers, Nancy investigates the pictures on the table and one manages to catch her eye-- one with a stained glass window of a rose. She's seen it before. As Nancy folds the images and arranges them, it comes to her: they're looking at pieces of Victor Creel's house.
4. What do the boys find inside Agent Harmon's pen?

Answer: A phone number

El wakes up in a sterile, white room with her hair shaved. Realizing that she's been taken back to her time in the Hawkins Lab, she makes her way out of the room, down the corridor, and to the common area to find the other children in her program already there. As she starts to experience events in duplicate and loop back on her own memories, the scientists overseeing her track her vitals. Dr. Owen and Dr. Brenner watch as she tackles the test put before her. The latter is optimistic.

Out in the desert, the boys bury Agent Harmon in a shallow grave in the middle of a scrap yard while Argyle breaks down over the situation. Jonathan tells Argyle to go to the van to get high while the others finish the job. After the deed is done, Mike and Will discuss their circumstances, and while Mike continues to regret not being open with El before she was taken, Will helps him with a bit of humility.

As Argyle attempts to write on a pizza box to make a slapdash headstone for the fallen agent, he finds that his pen, the pen that the agent handed over earlier, doesn't work. It turns out to be the key they need. Inside the pen is a phone number. They had what they needed the whole time.
5. There are rumours in the Russian prison that there is a monster housed in one of the chambers there. Where, do they say, it came from?

Answer: America

In Russia, while the guards clean up body parts scattered around the courtyard of the cell block, Antonov tries to bribe his former colleague into letting him and Hopper out, claiming Hopper comes from old American money. When Hopper won't help, Antonov takes to at least attempting to convince his cellmate that it's worth fighting to get out, even if he already failed once.

Hopper admits that the closer he keeps getting to Joyce, the more danger she gets in, so it's worth his giving up, at least to stop that from continuing. He's been cursed, he says, since he turned 18 and was drafted into the Vietnam War, set into Chemical Corps, mixing drums of Agent Orange. He tried to get back into the swing of real life, even building a family, but when his daughter died, that all fell apart. When El and Joyce happened, he told himself that they needed him, but that wasn't true; he needed them. The minute he sent for Joyce, he sentenced her to death.

Hopper claims he was wrong the whole time; he wasn't cursed. He is the curse.

A sound cries out from within the facility-- something unnatural. Antonov has heard rumours of a monster from America behind the iron doors there. It's likely, he admits, that they will die there.

In Hawkins, Eddie Munson's uncle is visited by a group of government agents. As they use their odd machines to investigate, they look at his living room ceiling to find what appears to be a dark crack. He blames a potential leak. They decide to evacuate him nonetheless.
6. Where does Patrick finally see Vecna's grandfather clock?

Answer: At a funeral

Across Hawkins, Chrissy's funeral is held in a packed church and her mother provides a eulogy that's equal parts emotional and accusatory. With the alleged killer still out there, she begs the room for understanding. While she speaks to the church, Patrick, in one of the pews, looks around to hear the sound of a chiming grandfather clock that no one else seems to notice.

After the funeral, Jason reveals to the rest of the basketball team that, based on photos from the upcoming school yearbook, Lucas was part of the Hellfire Club and, thus, a traitor harbouring Eddie. Patrick suggests bringing the photos to the police since the cult could be doing something to them. But Jason doesn't let that happen; he wants to hunt down the Hellfire Club and smoke 'em out. One of the guys on the team recommends checking Reefer Rick's place; someone spotted someone in the house there, even though he's supposed to be in prison. Jason adds it to the list. No stone left unturned.

The Hawkins gang, meanwhile, arrive at the abandoned Creel household to find a dilapidated structure that they need to break into. Unsure of what they'll find, Max at the very least recognizes the stained glass window. That's moments before Robin uses her key-- a brick-- to smash through and grant entry. What's inside is...everything the Creel family had, left behind. Amongst the furniture there is, 1:1, the grandfather clock from Max's visions. Everyone splits into pairs and they get to work searching the premises, unaware of the power coming back to certain fixtures.
7. Dr. Brenner reveals to El that he named his operation 'The Nina Project' after which of these?

Answer: An opera

Somewhere between Alaska and Russia, Murray asks Yuri if he can use the bathroom, but Joyce realizes that while he's seated up in the cockpit, Yuri can't hear them. She takes this opportunity to knock over a box filled with peanut butter jars and, using her feet, try to reach for one of the shards of glass to cut their bindings. She tells Murray to use his black belt karate skills to fight for Yuri's gun, but the plan is flawed. After all, who'll fly the plane?

In Nevada, El attempts over and over again to escape the lab and finds it impossible to avoid the common room. After she screams to be let out, Dr. Brenner speaks to her over the PA system, claiming that in 1786, Nicolas Dalayrac wrote an opera called 'Nina', about a woman who buried her trauma deep in her memory. Eleven has to find her own way out of her memory. That's the only way she'll begin to be fixed. As El's training commences, her memory of Dr. Brenner leads her out into the hall with the other children. In the Nina Project facility, El remains in a sensory deprivation tank, racing against the clock. Dr. Brenner tells Dr. Owens that he's optimistic.

In the desert, the boys find a lone telephone booth and use it to call the number from Agent Harris' pen, ringing it up to find a bunch of weird noises on the other end of the receiver. It reminds Jonathan of "WarGames"; he comments that it sounds like they've called a computer. The catch is that they know someone who can help them-- the best hacker they know. They just need to get to Salt Lake City and meet up with Dustin's girlfriend, Suzie.
8. In order to prevent Vecna from infiltrating her mind once again, Max plays a cassette tape by which artist/band on a loop?

Answer: Kate Bush

Eddie, hiding out in Reefer Rick's dock house, watches as Jason and his boys arrive with weapons in-hand and find evidence that someone's broken into the home across the property. He tries to get through to Dustin on the walkie-talkie, but the others put down Dustin's bag when they got to the Creel house.

Dustin is actually on the upper floor of the Creel house with Steve, searching around for any clues they can find, even through they have no idea what they're looking for. Steve, spying something hidden in a floor vent, opens it up to find jars of spiders and is terrified when he finds a black widow walking on his shoulder. As he backs out of the room in terror, he runs into Nancy and Robin.

Elsewhere in the house, Lucas and Max share their concerns but make light of the situation they're in, laughing together over pretending to play the piano and find secret passageways. As Max rewinds and restarts her Kate Bush tape, a lamp flickers on and off...and then others in the hallway do the same...leading out the front door.

In the Nina Project, El deals with her own flickering lights, taking a seat in front of a series of bulbs and using her mind to turn them on and off in succession. As El sit in front of the device, she tries and fails to light the bulbs, but when Brenner tells her to prove she's not weak, she manages to make the lights glow...just a little bit. As her nose starts to bleed, El looks down to find her hands bloody, and wandering back through the halls she finds the massacre waiting for her, just as it did in 1979. In the real world, Dr. Owens tells at Brenner to pull her out of the tank.
9. Does Yuri's plane land safely in Russia?

Answer: No

10,000 feet above Russia, Yuri finally notices that the peanut butter box has tipped over and he turns around to find Joyce hacking away at her ropes with a piece of broken glass. Leaving the plane on auto-pilot, he holds her at gunpoint until Murray reveals himself and his karate techniques...which are little more than words. But one swift kick changes all of that as Yuri's gun drops to the floor and a fight ensues. Joyce makes a break for the gun, but Yuri and Murray battle up into the cockpit, inadvertently knocking into the sterring column and sending the plane plummeting towards the tundra below.

Murray finally does get the upper hand, knocking out Yuri, it's too late at that point to fix the problem they've created for themselves. Murray and Joyce rush to the cockpit to try and pilot the plane, but it only makes things worse. It stalls out and the aircraft crash-lands, uneasily, into the wilderness.
10. Where is Patrick when Vecna claims him?

Answer: Lover's Lake

As night falls in Hawkins, the group finds that the lights are flickering in certain rooms like when Will was able to control the Christmas lights in the Upside Down, and they deduce that Vecna must be in the house on the other side. When the lights go out, Nancy has everyone shut off their flashlights and spread out, searching for any signs of life. It's Robin who's able to find him as her flashlight turns on unexpectedly. Steve is next; he follows his flashlight around the house to find the lights glowing in the attic.

At Reefer Rick's, Jason and his buddies tear the house apart looking for Eddie until, at last, Jason looks outside to find the boat house. Inside the house, Patrick once again hears the sound of the clock ringing, but it's a short toll; the guys bring him outside, intending to find Eddie in his hideout. They're just barely too late-- Eddie's paddling the boat out into the water.

As Eddie revs up the propeller, Jason and the guys swim out into the lake in pursuit of their target. They don't know that, at the same time, in the Creel house, all of the lights have powered on in the attic, a testament to Vecna's powers in that spot in the Upside Down. As Jason reaches Eddie's escape boat, Patrick is pulled underwater by an unseen force and, in moments, pulled into the sky. Just like the other victims, is body is broken in pieces before he's dropped back into the lake.

In the Creel house, all of the flashlight bulbs burst.

In the Nina Project facility, the scientists use the defibrillator to bring El back to consciousness. The attempts, once again, to fight her way out, and this time she lashes out with her mind, finding that her powers have returned due in part to the procedure. When Dr. Brenner approaches she attempts to use them to keep him at bay, but she finds they don't work anymore. Dr. Brenner has an idea of why. And instead of departing the facility, she decides to find out the answer.
