Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Aside from Ryunosuke getting falsely convicted during the first trial, 'The Adventure of the Great Departure', what else was at stake if he were to be found guilty?

Answer: His best friend's study tour to London

The reason why Ryunosuke takes on his own defense for this trial is due to his friend, Kazuma Asogi, potentially risking his trip to study in London. The trip would be cancelled if Kazuma were to lose the case.
2. During the trip to London, Kazuma ends up seeing a "speckled band" in the vent connecting to the adjacent room shortly before his untimely end. What was the identity of this strange item?

Answer: A cat toy

Great Detective, Herlock Sholmes, found a snake which he believed was trained with milk and whistling to become an assassination tool, citing a "sloughed skin" as evidence. Ryunosuke goes on to correct this deduction by properly identifying that the culprit was holding a cat toy, which she attempted to lure her pet kitten back into her own room after it ran away.

It turns out that snakes don't drink milk, hear whistling, or climb bell cords, and the snake in question was not even venomous.
3. The trial of Magnus McGilded was an... unfortunate time for Ryunosuke, especially with the prosecutor being Barok van Zieks, the Reaper of the Bailey. Why was he so feared?

Answer: Anyone found innocent died anyways

Setting him apart from the likes of Manfred von Karma, van Zieks had no claim to a perfect win record, and isn't corrupt in the slightest. However, plenty of defendants were corrupt, forging evidence and bribing witnesses and juries to get off scotfree.

The "Reaper's Curse" means that whoever van Zieks prosecutes will die, either through capital punishment or some incident in the coming weeks.
4. Which of these does NOT happen regarding the murder of Thrice Fired Mason?

Answer: McGilded sells his park afterwards

Magnus McGilded kills Mason due to a deal gone awry, where he was expecting to purchase music disks containing sensitive information. To cover his tracks, he'd coerce the closest witness, Gina Lestrade, into helping him by crafting her testimony and giving him an opportunity to tamper with the omnibus during a forced recess.

McGilded did have his own park, but he didn't sell it or anything. It's never actually visited, so we don't know what became of it after the trial concluded.
5. John Garrideb owns a set of lodgings with his wife Joan Garrideb, but sparks fly one day and not in a very fun way. Joan discovers a bookmark that was a love note that sends her into a fury. What name was the note addressed to?

Answer: James

While the note was found in John's book, which sparked allegations of cheating on his marriage, the name mentioned in the note was James.

However... In the original Sherlock Holmes story, "The Three Garridebs", a man named John Garrideb is a key figure. It turns out that's a fake name, the man's real name being James Winter. Surely the John Garrideb in our story isn't using the same lie, right?
6. The Professor is perhaps the greatest serial killer in the franchise. Mostly shrouded in mystery, he is prominently featured in a special waxwork exhibit. Which of these details surrounding this legend is true?

Answer: The waxwork exhibit depicts an escape attempt

It was a quite eventful night for the man sentenced to the gallows... Genshin Asogi had struck a deal with Mael Stronghart, where his execution would be faked so he could go back to his homeland. The plan seems to go smoothly, except Enoch Drebber happened to be graverobbing at that particular night. Asogi ends up being shot shortly after being discovered, but that wouldn't stop this tale from spreading wide.

To ensure complete realism in her work, Madame Tuspells did remove the mask to accurately depict the man's face. Not all victims attributed to the Professor were killed by a dog either; the final victim died as a result of a noble duel.
7. Shortly after Soseki Natsume returns from the trial for a stabbing incident, a man from the lodgings on the ground floor ends up poisoned likely from his tea in his teacup being poisoned. Or as Ryunosuke calls them, the...what?

Answer: Western vessel for infused hot drinks

While examining the teacups throughout the deduction, Ryunosuke just refuses to simply say "teacup". This irritates Susato after a bit, where at one point she practically yells at Ryu to call the Western vessel for infused hot drinks how any regular person would address them.
8. When Susato returns to Japan after the events of the first game, she must act as her friend's attorney. However, due to certain cultural issues, she must go in disguise. What name's chosen for this budding male attorney?

Answer: Ryutaro Naruhodo

Yujin Mikotoba had to come up with a suitable name for this persona, Ryutaro Naruhodo being the first name to come to his mind. It would of course sound extremely similar to the main protagonist and prodigy attorney Ryunosuke Naruhodo, who Ryutaro would claim is his cousin.
9. One of the biggest mysteries of "Great Ace Attorney" is the true father of Iris Wilson. While Herlock Sholmes raised her for all her life, he was incredibly secretive about this topic. Who's the actual man whose wife gave birth to the young inventor?

Answer: Klint van Zieks

The Professor case was particularly sensitive for everyone involved, involving Japanese students travelling to Great Britain and high nobles of London losing their lives to the Hound of the Baskervilles. It would eventually be revealed that the final victim attributed to the Professor, Klint van Zieks, not only was that killer, but had a child soon to be born while Genshin was about to get executed.

Fearing the repercussions if this was to be investigated and Iris's parentage discovered, Sholmes and Yujin worked together to keep it as under wraps as possible, lest the sins of the father be visited upon the young girl.
10. When the group comes to the workshop of Enoch Drebber, the man would seem to have fled the scene... However, there was a strange device laid out in the center of the room. Sholmes comes in with his usual deductions, suggesting this item was what?

Answer: An anti-gravity device

Supposedly, Enoch Drebber has used it to ascend up to the ceiling and escape through the skylights, citing a rope as one piece of evidence as well as a bunch of furniture tossed around. Sholmes had recognized this scenario from a dream, you see.
