Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'The Adventure of the Blossoming Attorney': Why would no one else take on Rei Membami's murder trial?

Answer: The victim's identity made it too risky.

Susato Mikotoba muses this is the reason, and though her father Yujin doesn't confirm it, the silence says enough.
2. 'The Adventure of the Blossoming Attorney': Before he is taken away kicking and screaming, Raiten Menimemo starts yelling about a 'visiting student' and their fate. Who is it that he refers to?

Answer: Kazuma Asogi

Immediately after this line, Satoru Hosonaga incorrectly guesses Jezaille, but Susato correctly assumes Kazuma after Raiten states it was "the student of law... from eight months ago!" He is also quick to clarify that no one in Japan knows of his death (which is how we know it's not Ryu) and that Yujin may have had a hand in covering it up.
3. 'The Memoirs of the Clouded Kokoro': Upon first arrival back to Briar Road, who is the assumed victim of the case?

Answer: William Shamspeare

Certainly Ryu, Susato, and Tobias Gregson were NOT expecting William to just rise up from the floor mid-investigation! It's not until later that we learn about Duncan having been killed prior to the case's events.
4. 'The Memoirs of the Clouded Kokoro': Which of these lines was also said by someone other than Shamspeare?

Answer: "It is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

The "It is a tale... signifying nothing" line was also said by Inspector Gregson mid-investigation after Shamspeare rose from the floor and asked for someone to continue it. He says it himself when arriving in court on day 1 - and both the "O Heaven! O Hell!" and "One may smile.." ones are said sometime later in it. "The eye of man..." one is when he's talking to Olive Green while she's still in the hospital.
5. 'The Return of the Great Departed Soul': What is the first thing Iris Wilson is shocked by when she and Ryunosuke turn up in Barok van Zieks's office?

Answer: The fact that he is friends with the defendant, Albert Harebrayne

Iris doesn't take any visible notice of the cloaked man until they're speaking about him, and only Ryu is worried about the wine casks when they're examined (she's even humoring his fear here!). But, yes, the moment they note that they will be defending Albert catches Barok's attention and he tells them how he knows of him:

Iris: "It's strange how this has worked out, isn't it, Runo? I mean, what with you taking on the professor's defence for the trial tomorrow."

Van Zieks: "What?! You're going to be defending him?"

Ryunosuke: "Oh, yes, that's right. Though I barely know the man's name yet, to be honest."

Van Zieks: "Albert. Albert Harebrayne."

Ryunosuke: "That's right...Do you know him, by any chance?"

Van Zieks: "... Of course. He's a contemporary of mine. We were at university together."

Ryunosuke: "Your..."

Iris: "WHAT?!"

(She is shocked by the Reaper title thing after this moment.)
6. 'The Return of the Great Departed Soul': Which of the two actually wanted Odie Asman dead - Enoch Drebber, or Courtney Sithe?

Answer: Both wanted him dead, for their own reasons.

Odie blackmailed Courtney for her Professor activities and made a fool out of Enoch for claiming to have seen said man rise from the grave (oh, if only all those people knew...). One person or another, he was going DOWN.
7. 'Twisted Karma and His Last Bow': When do our Japanese duo find out the identity of the victim?

Answer: After Gina Lestrade barges into their suite on Baker's Street

Poor Gina, after what happened in the last game... she barges in CRYING and telling them everything of what she knows (to say nothing of who was accused in the first place!).
8. 'Twisted Karma and His Last Bow': Does Evie Vigil know anything about her husband Daley's "double life"?

Answer: No

In fact, she specifically went to Herlock to ask after where he had gone; it is revealed in court later that she doesn't even know that he no longer works at Barclay!
9. 'The Resolve of Ryunosuke Naruhodo': While Ryunosuke and Susato are in court trying to handle the murder case, where are Herlock and Yujin at the moment when they're calling them?

Answer: On the SS Grouse

While one of the ships does go to France, they are specifically in the first class cabin of one of them right now.

Susato: "Mr. Sholmes! Where, where are you?"

Sholmes: "Myself and my trusty partner... ...are presently in the first-class cabin area of the SS Grouse."

Ryunosuke: "The, the SS Grouse?"

Sholmes: "She left Dover last night, after the final pieces of cargo were loaded. We are currently docked at Dunkirk, but due to be underway again in half an hour."

Ryunosuke: "You've...taken a ship to France?!"

Sholmes: "Please, even with my athletic prowess, I would struggle to jump the Straits of Dover. After we left Baker Street last night, we hurried by cab to the station and by train to the port... ...in order to board this vessel in time."
10. 'The Resolve of Ryunosuke Naruhodo': Which of these secrets in Klint van Zieks's last will and testament were not read at the same time as the rest?

Answer: The fact that he had a child

Every other option was towards the start and middle of the will hidden within Karuma, but the child part came at the very end of it, after all of those things.
11. 'Asinine Attorney: Japan': The basis of this case is Prosecutor Auchi attempting to press charges against Kazuma for cutting his hair, then later trying to get back at him to try and stop him from going overseas, which we find out he was doing for his son Takeshi. What would be difficult to localize about this case to an English audience?

Answer: The small difference in Takeshi and Taketsuchi's names

'Takeshi' and 'Taketsuchi' differ in kanji ONLY by the lengths of their horizontal lines (think a hyphen versus an emdash). They would somehow have to pull a 'Countdown' level trick (i.e. turning Ted Tonate's ID into Juniper Woods's last name) to even come CLOSE to fixing this.
12. 'Asinine Attorney: England': In this episode, Iris is put on trial for (apparently) stealing one of Barok's chalices. Who is leading the defense for her in this trial?

Answer: Herlock

For some continuity post 'Unspeakable Story', Ryu's not allowed to practice law at the moment and Susato is back in Japan, so Herlock steps up (with Ryu as the assistant instead).
