The very first level of the game, Waddlewing Warning! is a fast-paced rush through the Acorn Plains' earliest challenges. Here, while Mario would face a lot more stable ground for his first level, Luigi is stuck taking on the brand new Super Acorn power-up and floating around on moving platforms, dodging foes with speed and dexterity. Players who completed the Mario version of the game before will quickly realize, at this point, that all the levels are new.
2. Spine Coaster Connections
Answer: Grass
While you may not spend most of this late-game level on said grass, the environment in which the level is held is reminiscent of your time in Acorn Plains, back in World 1. Really, Spine Coaster Connections is the first level in World 9, Superstar Road, and only gets unlocked if you beat Bowser and happen to have all of World 1's Star Coins in your possession.
This level is, otherwise, spent on the backs of several fast-moving Spine Coasters trying to dodge Big Fuzzies the whole way, and as Luigi, that can get a bit slippery at high speeds.
3. Weighty Waddlewings
Answer: Snow
Waddlewings are typically early-game monsters in this and "New Super Mario Bros. U" because their quaint ability to fly through the air makes them ideal foes to showcase the Super Acorn. And they do happen to do that, appearing in Acorn Plains a lot in this game, but this particular level is the fourth to appear in the game's fourth World, Frosted Glacier.
Here, Luigi must navigate a series of carefully-balanced platforms which could weigh too heavily and break with all the Waddlewings floating around. And naturally, the place is covered in snow, making the whole place just a bit more frictionless.
4. Fliprus Floes
Answer: Snow
In some levels, it seems like even the most harmless creatures are out to get you. Fliprus Floes features the Flipruses, walruses who seem cute and cuddly on the outside, but who are just as eager to hinder Luigi as any Piranha Plant or Chain Chomp, and they achieve this by leaping and tossing massive snowballs at you.
This level, the secret level of World 4 (Frosted Glacier), unlocks from the secret exit in the Peek-a-Boo Ghost House and, when Luigi finishes his race across the snow here, he'll get a quick ride to the Rock-Candy Mines, World 6.
5. Giant Swing-Along
Answer: Jungle
Luigi's first foray in the jungle is a daring one because not only will he need to figure out the best way to get momentum to swing along hanging vines, but he'll need to do so while navigating some of the largest foes the Mushroom Kingdom has to offer. Giant Swing-Along, the first level of Soda Jungle, makes it clear that everything in the jungle is dangerous, especially the purple poison pools that line every expanse you need to swing over.
6. Sumo Bro Bridge
Answer: Jungle
The bridge is out as you near Iggy's Swinging-Chains Castle in World 5, Soda Jungle, and what remains of it, sticking up out of the poison swamps there, isn't safe. In addition to moving around on numerous seesaw platforms that float around in this penultimate level of the World, Luigi's main foe in this jungle environment is the sparsely-used Sumo Bro, who'll stomp on the ground to create damaging jolts of electricity that'll stop Luigi right in his tracks...sometimes even as his platform moves out of the way.
7. Spike's Seesaws
Answer: Mountain
One of the small handful of vertical/ascent stages, this one sees Luigi climbing onward and upward through a number of Spike enemies, who create massive, spiky balls to toss at Luigi and complicate his advance. To make things worse, a number of seesaws, some of which raise and lower on tracks, make navigating this level more complex, especially with the unbreakable spheres making their way along them.
This is the third level in the Rock-Candy Mines, so it takes place on the side of a mountain.
8. Fire Bar Sprint
Answer: Mountain
Though found as one of the later levels of Superstar Road, Fire Bar Sprint only unlocks when you get all of the Star Coins of Rock Candy Mines and complete the game. As such, this level is set amongst the craggy, stone cliffs that characterize that sixth World, though much of your time there will be focused on the path ahead.
The concept is simple-- Luigi just needs to run and run and run while deking through spinning fire bars. Letting up on the dash means, likely, certain death or a severe burn.
9. Piranha Heights
Answer: Sky
Although Piranha Heights is technically found in the Acorn Plains, a grassland-centric world at the start of the game, World 1-4 sits along a ridge of high-growing mushrooms up in the air, and Mario's visit there will take place on unstable platforms as he tries to reach the far end of a large gap.
The bigger issue is that the platforms in this level are placed in such a way that you will be ducking and dodging Piranha Plants at all times, so you'll need to move fast to avoid these deadly spots.
10. Frozen Fuzzies
Answer: Sky
The first level found in World 7, the Meringue Clouds, Frozen Fuzzies sounds like it might be a more appropriate name for a level in the Frosted Glacier World, but the title leans much more into the odd new mechanic Luigi will face more than most would presume from the surface.
In this short level, numerous, massive Fuzzies will proceed along tracks of various lengths, and the only way to navigate them will be by freezing them solid for a short amount of time. While some of this can be achieved by Luigi himself, Ice Bros. will actually provide a number of helpful ice shots, even if they're aimed at the player.
The whole level takes place in the clouds, though, and not the glacier.
