Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Old Dragonslayer is fought inside the Cathedral of Blue. Where is this located?

Answer: Heide's Tower of Flame

This is an entirely optional aspect of Heide's Tower. Gaining access to it does give the player numerous, nifty rewards though, so it is typically worth engaging with.
2. As the game's lore states, "The Old Dragonslayer is reminiscent of a certain knight that appears in old legends." Who is the "certain knight" he is portraying?

Answer: Dragonslayer Ornstein

Old Dragonslayer wears the exact same armor as Ornstein, only blackened instead of the gold sheen worn by the latter. He also copies many of the same attacks from Ornstein. Combined with them sharing the 'Dragonslayer' moniker, and the resemblance couldn't be closer.
3. It is technically possible to summon NPC help for the Old Dragonslayer, but both options present are going to require legwork to actually gain the services of here. Who is one NPC who can eventually become available to help with this fight?

Answer: Devotee Scarlett

Scarlett will only be available here if the player first travels to Earthen Peak, summons her there, then eventually defeats the boss after having summoned her in the same sitting. She doesn't need to survive the fight, though she basically always will. After this happens, Scarlett can be summoned for Old Dragonslayer.

This is definitely one of the stranger prerequisites to an NPC summon. Earthen Peak is much later in the game than Heide's Tower of Flame, so the player would need to intentionally put off a very early game boss, venture deeper into the game and kill a later boss, then come back here and summon Scarlett.

At that point, the player would certainly possess the skills and stats to confidently handle Old Dragonslayer alone. Therefore, this would mainly be something players would do for the novelty, not necessity.
4. Old Dragonslayer has no weaknesses, instead harboring one significant resistance. Which element should players not bring to this fight?

Answer: Dark

Old Dragonslayer wields Dark himself in a few of his attacks, which would likely tip players off to his resistance pretty easily. This is different from his inspiration Dragonslayer Ornstein, as Ornstein's biggest resistance is Lightning - an element Old Dragonslayer resists the least.
5. On defeat, other than just his Boss Soul, Old Dragonslayer drops a ring. Which ring does he drop?

Answer: Old Leo Ring

The Old Leo Ring enhances thrust-based counter attacks by 12.5%. This is a fantastic ring and should be an automatic if the player is using such weaponry, like the Rapier or Spear.
6. Old Dragonslayer's Soul of the Old Dragonslayer is dropped to the player when he is defeated. Trading this soul in to Weaponsmith Ornifex would yield the Dragonslayer Spear. This is the same iconic spear from "Dark Souls 1" in every meaningful way. Which element does this spear deal, apart from Physical?

Answer: Lightning

The Old Dragonslayer himself wields Dark, yet the player version of his weapon is Lightning. Both Ornstein's weapon and the player version of Ornstein's weapon from "Dark Souls 1" deal part Lightning damage as well, furthering the notion that this boss is an obvious callout to Ornstein.
7. On defeating Old Dragonslayer, the player will find two treasure chests in a room behind him. What is one piece of loot gained from these chests?

Answer: Tower Shield

The Tower Shield is a big, beefy Greatshield that plays the role of a Greatshield perfectly. Requiring 30 Strength, it gives perfect Physical absorption and well above average Fire absorption, though its Magic and Lightning absorptions are fairly mediocre.

Due to the close proximity in which it is received, this shield is often compared to the Dragonrider's Greatshield and The Pursuer's Greatshield. Its crown advantage over the two is only needing Titanite Shards and further to upgrade, juxtaposed to the Petrified Dragon Bones the competition needs.
8. Behind Old Dragonslayer is an NPC. Who can players interact with after slaying Old Dragonslayer?

Answer: Blue Knight Targray

Targray can be interacted with, but unless the player has a Token of Fidelity to hand, Targray will essentially tell them off and refuse to interact further. A Token of Fidelity can be earned either through being summoned to another player's world and helping them kill a boss, or it can be looted from the Huntsman's Copse out of a chest.
9. Unless looking to interact with the Blue Sentinels covenant, players could immediately proceed to murder the NPC that the Old Dragonslayer was guarding. What does this accomplish?

Answer: The NPC drops incredible loot

Blue Knight Targray, on death, will drop the Blue Knight's Halberd. This is not only the best Halberd in the game hands down, it is also among the best weapons, period, in the entire game, with fantastic qualities and no even remote downsides to speak of.
10. Defeating Old Dragonslayer will allow the player the ability to join the Blue Sentinels. This covenant is great for players who want to help other, possibly new and more inexperienced, players. Blue Sentinels will automatically be summoned into another player's world. What condition must take place in the host's world for a Blue Sentinel to be auto-summoned?

Answer: The host gets invaded by another player

This covenant can get a little tricky to explain, so bear with me here.

If a player joins the Way of Blue covenant, they automatically become eligible for Blue Sentinels support. If that player gets invaded by another real player, the invaded player will automatically summon the next available, eligible Blue Sentinel. The incoming Blue Sentinel's objective is to kill the person invading the host.

In order to become an eligible Blue Sentinel, a player must equip the Guardian Seal while actively part of the Blue Sentinels, and they must reside somewhere in the Blue Cathedral. Doing this will essentially "queue" them for the next invaded host to automatically summon them.

The Blue Sentinel covenant is progressed as the player kills invaders. After killing 30 players who invade other players, the Blue Sentinel covenant will be fully maxed out.

Worth noting is that Blue Sentinels can only appear to aid players if the host is part of the Way of Blue covenant. Players who are not members of Way of Blue cannot receive the support of a Blue Sentinel.
