Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Flexile Sentry has one formal boss encounter. Where does it take place?

Answer: No Man's Wharf

When slain for the very first time, assuming no enhancers or debuffs are taking place, the player will receive 14,000 souls. This indicates that Flexile Sentry is a slight step up in difficulty from the beginning of the game, and should probably be generally more challenging to kill than opponents such as The Last Giant.
2. Within Flexile Sentry's boss fight lies an opportunity to either begin or progress an NPC's quest line. Whose quest line involves this boss fight?

Answer: Lucatiel of Mirrah

By summoning Lucatiel for help with this fight and ensuring she survives the fight, the player can make progress towards eventually finishing her quest line. Lucatiel's quest line is simple, demanding the player talk to her at all of her appearances and summon her for three individual boss fights while ensuring she survives.

In theory, the player could simply fight Flexile Sentry three times, summoning Lucatiel for each time, and finish this aspect of her quest line quickly if she survives the fights.
3. If fighting the Flexile Sentry boss on New Game Plus, this time the sentry will receive the support of two minion enemies to fight with it. What enemies join the Flexile Sentry's boss fight on NG+ and beyond?

Answer: Suspicious Shadows

Two Suspicious Shadows will drop in and enter the fight immediately as it has begun. That said, this is the only enemy in the entire base game who can drop the Umbral Dagger. Outside of this boss fight, only two Suspicious Shadows appear in No Man's Wharf, one at Earthen Peak, and no more for the rest of the game.

As such, a player wanting to loot the Umbral Dagger can actually take advantage of the situation. Otherwise, the Shadows have basically no health and are easy to kill, but they attack quickly and can do a lot of damage.

This makes them high priority targets to slay immediately at the start of this fight on NG+.
4. Hilariously (and almost certainly unintentionally!) the player can actually kill Flexile Sentry's NG+ minion support before the boss fight even begins. They just need a very specific spell to pull it off. What spell is it?

Answer: Scraps of Life

The three incorrect answers are still very capable of making short work of the Suspicious Shadows when they do actually appear. However, if the player stands atop the pirate ship, standing above the boss room where Flexile Sentry is fought, they can cast Scraps of Life to kill the Suspicious Shadows through the floorboards, leaving them with a one on one against Flexile Sentry.
5. During the boss fight, a small body of water fills the room. The water will rise as the fight drags out, progressively slowing and hindering the player while doing nothing to the Flexile Sentry. At its worst, the player can find themselves entirely denied of the ability to even sprint. How long, upon the fight starting, will it take for the water to rise high enough to prevent sprinting?

Answer: Ten minutes

The Flexile Sentry has just over 3,000 health and, as such, it definitely should not take the full ten minutes, or anywhere close, to put it down. Even with a Broken Sword, this timer is overtly lenient. That said, the water does not restrict the player's dodge roll, only their ability to sprint, so it's not the end of the world even if the water does rise high.
6. When slain, Flexile Sentry drops the Soul of the Flexile Sentry. All three of the possible rewards are melee weapons. All three of them also inflict the same status on hitting an enemy. What status affliction do these three weapons share in common?

Answer: Bleed

This is an excellent representation of Flexile Sentry's impact on the game's lore. Flexile Sentry is a merciless ship captain whose purpose is to brutally torture Undead amidst transporting them from No Man's Wharf to Lost Bastille. All of its weapons inflicting Bleed makes thematic sense for a creature whose life is revolving around using weapons to torture.

The Arced Sword, Warped Sword and Barbed Club are all formidable weapons in their own right. The former is a Curved Greatsword, the latter a Hammer, and the Warped Sword is a Curved Sword. They are reasonably good at inflicting Bleed onto enemies.
7. After its formal boss encounter, Flexile Sentry shows up again later as a mini-boss. Where does this take place?

Answer: Sinner's Rise

Right as the player takes the elevator to the depths of Sinner's Rise, they won't make it ten feet without encountering the Flexile Sentry. This time, it has slightly more health, and it is fought in an area already waist-high deep in water, replicating the effect of its formal boss room.

Sadly, the creature does not drop anything on defeat here.
8. Surprisingly, Flexile Sentry actually has a presence in the game's DLC. Which DLC pack does Flexile Sentry appear in?

Answer: Crown of the Ivory King

Specifically, Flexile Sentry appears behind a locked door deep in Frozen Eleum Loyce. Unsurprisingly, as this is end game content, Flexile Sentry is at its absolute strongest by a considerable margin here.
9. Flexile Sentry can be found in DLC, but to experience it here, the player must first kill a DLC boss to gain access. What boss must be slain before the player can "reunite" with Flexile Sentry?

Answer: Aava, the King's Pet

Prior to killing Aava, the door leading to the Flexile Sentry can only be unlocked if four nearby torch sconces are lit with a torch. Before killing Aava, lighting these sconces will be impossible due to the ongoing raging blizzard through Frozen Eleum Loyce. To make this blizzard disappear, the player must kill Aava and then talk to Alsanna inside the Grand Cathedral.
10. When the player finally stumbles upon the Flexile Sentry in the game's DLC, they will find not one, but two Flexile Sentries in the area! The player may suspiciously deduce that they are guarding something important, and indeed they are. What key are the two Flexile Sentries guarding here?

Answer: Garrison Ward

The Garrison Ward Key is needed to open up the Expulsion Chamber, where the player can access the Frigid Outskirts. Both Flexile Sentries will appear to try and block the player from getting it. The player can choose to kill them, or they can make a mad dash for the back of the cave they're in to try and quickly scoop the key up and get out of dodge.
