Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does this boss fight take place?

Answer: Brightstone Cove Tseldora

The boss fight is a small trek away from the Royal Army Campsite bonfire, found directly after exiting the Doors to Pharros. It is one of two boss fights housed in Tseldora. Unlike Huntsman's Copse, however, the player cannot reach The Duke's Dear Freja without first defeating Prowling Magus and Congregation.
2. Astoundingly, there is an NPC summon available to help with this boss. Who is it?

Answer: Benhart of Jugo

This is the perfect boss to complete Benhart's questline on, as Benhart's questline requires the player to exhaust his dialogue in all of his appearances, as well as summon him for three bosses and ensure he survives the fight. The player can very simply just summon Benhart three times for this boss, and complete it very easily.
3. The Prowling Magus is supposed to be the biggest threat in this boss fight. In actuality, this is just a renamed version of a regular enemy that isn't even a mini-boss. What enemy is the Prowling Magus?

Answer: Aldia Warlock

Outside of this fight, an Aldia Warlock appears at Shrine of Amana and Aldia's Keep and, in both situations, is seriously far out of the line of natural progression. Uniquely, the Aldia Warlock does not respawn in either location.

The Aldia Warlock has a chance to drop both the Warlock Mask and the Cursed Bone Shield. The former is a really cool headpiece that may not have any special properties, but is just fantastic cosmetically. The latter is, again, not a special piece of equipment for what it does, but rather in how it looks.
4. The Prowling Magus is joined by the Congregation, which is a cluster of small enemies. How many enemies make up the Congregation?

Answer: Ten

In total, there are two Hollow Priests, five Undead Laborers and three Undead Supplicants. Not a single one of these enemies has more than 1,000 health, so the player can step into the middle of them with a Greatsword, swing it twice, and completely dispatch of the entire Congregation on the spot.
5. The Prowling Magus is a little more resilient than the Congregation, but he is far from a tank. On base game, how much health does he have?

Answer: 1,100

A figure of 1,100 is only about 400 more than the player starts their entire playthrough with. As such, with a little Vigor investment, the player can have more health than this entire boss fight.
6. Though niche, if the player packs one specific spell, they can actually complete prevent the Prowling Magus and most of the Congregation from attacking in any way. What spell will almost completely disarm this boss fight?

Answer: Profound Still

Profound Still prevents any nearby enemies from casting any spells for fifteen seconds. The Prowling Magus can only attack with spells, and the Hollow Priests who are part of the Congregation are in the same boat. When casting Profound Still, the only way the player will be able to take damage is through the meandering Undead Laborers, who pose the same exact type of threat that normal hollows have posed.

An equivalent to this would be if some boss fight in a "Super Mario" game could be reduced to nothing but a handful of Goombas.

As such, a player with Profound Still to hand can kill the Undead Laborers and Supplicants, then they can just put the controller down as the remaining enemies will be left without a way to actually damage the player.
7. If the player does not have a spell available, they can still mostly disarm the threat this boss poses by using the environment. What structure can the player hide behind which will block projectiles?

Answer: Benches

This fight takes place inside of a ruined chapel building. Thankfully, the benches inside the chapel are strangely well intact, so the player can use them as cover.

As if this boss needed to get any easier, the player can stand behind these benches, and they can freely shoot at the boss while the benches will block one shot for the player. The boss is not smart enough to shoot over the bench to hit the player, but the player (hopefully) will be smart enough to shoot over the bench right back!
8. As if there needed to be any other silly ways to overcome this boss, if you're a Miracle caster and really wanted to turn your brain off, you could come in with this spell which will allow for easy victory while the player doesn't even have to move to win the fight. Which spell of the following is capable of hitting the entire boss, from any position in the boss room, without needing to be aimed?

Answer: Soul Appease

Soul Appease is a Miracle. It deals unbelievable amounts of damage, but the catch is that it only works on enemies who the game considers 'mindless hollows'. This is a grey area naturally rendering the spell inconsistent. However, for this boss, every single enemy meets the requirement of 'mindless hollow'. This spell is an AoE, so it will damage everything near the caster.

If the player starts the boss fight, stands still and casts this spell twice, they will eliminate both the Prowling Magus and Congregation immediately. Just one cast dismisses the Congregation and nearly wipes out the Prowling Magus.
9. Interestingly, this boss has something in common with the Covetous Demon, the only other boss who competes with this one for being the single easiest in the entire game. What does Prowling Magus & Congregation have in common with Covetous Demon?

Answer: Soundtrack

The soundtrack heard when battling Prowling Magus & Congregation is the exact same as when fighting Covetous Demon. As these are the two easiest bosses in the game, hands down, the melody played therefore has developed a funny reputation.

Hilariously enough, despite the boss fight's unending list of mechanical shortcomings, Prowling Magus actually has a pretty sturdy set of resistances. He technically isn't actually weak to anything and is fairly heavily resistant towards Dark and Lightning. Too bad then, that his healthpool is so low that it doesn't matter.
10. When defeated, Prowling Magus & Congregation drop a Titanite Slab to the player. What type of equipment may the player turn their Boss Soul into?

Answer: There is no Boss Soul from this fight

Prowling Magus & Congregation is one of just two boss fights in this entire game that does not have a Boss Soul dropped to the player upon beating it. The only reward for winning this fight is a Titanite Slab. While a Slab is certainly useful, the lack of Boss Soul isn't an issue even Covetous Demon has.

This serves to make Prowling Magus & Congregation out to be an even more underwhelming boss fight. It makes the player ask- why is there even a boss fight here? It would have arguably made more sense for there to indeed not be a boss fight here, instead maybe giving a group of unnamed enemies for the player to fight and simply move on from.
