Answer: Midlane

Howitzer's stat build clearly favors a Midlane approach, as he deals almost exclusively Magic damage and does so at a range.

While Howitzer's damage output is formidable, Midlane is about the only role that truly suits him. As a Carry, due to his massively inferior Basic Attack, Howitzer would essentially be a drastically inferior version of Grim.exe. As well, Howitzer lacks the general survivability and close quarters capabilities to make the Offlane possible. This, in turn, makes Jungle pretty laughable of a prospect for him as well.

Answer: Ability Power

An Ability Power of 8 is unfortunately a little bit below average for a Midlaner, though Howitzer's strong 5 for a Mobility is arguably just as important for a lane known to get chaotic and unpredictable at times.

Answer: Mana restoration

An Armed Salvo boosted Basic Attack deals minor Cleave as Magic damage around the target, meaning the attack itself could hit multiple enemies if they stand directly adjacent to one another. The added Cleave is based on Howitzer's Magical Power, which players will naturally be trying to build up, so it will grow in power as the game goes on. Additionally, Howitzer will convert the portion of damage dealt into mana restored.

Armed Salvo's cooldown is reduced each time Howitzer uses an Ability, incentivizing an item approach focused on Ability Haste.

Answer: Eleven

The grenades are deployed in a moderately sized cluster, letting Howitzer use this as a zoning tool of sorts. It can situationally be used to help Howitzer escape a bad situation, by placing the cluster directly behind him to try and slow down pursuing enemy players who may seek to finish off a low HP Howitzer with a melee maneuver.

Answer: Simply deals a lot of damage

This is where the true character of Howitzer and players drawn to playing him really shines through. Are you tired of reading these pesky Ability descriptions? Do you just want to press a button, deal lots of damage, and not ask any more questions? If so, Howitzer's R2000 Missile is for you. Simply aim at an enemy player, press the button and watch their health bar take a dive.

Answer: Knocking Enemies Back

If an enemy player is hit by the blast, which occurs 2.5 seconds after deployment, they will be knocked in the direction that the blast sends them based on their positioning. A clever Howitzer player could use this to run down a fleeing enemy, by firing the Land Mine ahead of them where they're running, then having the explosion send them right back into Howitzer's clutches. It could also be used to forcefully split an enemy team apart during a team fight. Really, the applications of being able to force someone into a certain area are theoretically limitless.

Because of how it functions, it can be used to devastating effect in the hands of a smart player.

Answer: Four

This Ability is fantastic for isolated one on ones, as it does not have too much counterplay and has no visible telegraph before use, letting it catch enemies out of position fantastically. This can make engaging a Howitzer without a structure to readily hide behind very dangerous, as the missiles will never miss their target. Certain characters, such as Steel, can protect themselves from it.

Others with amazing mobility, such as Aurora, could get to safety in time even if unprepared. However, the Midlane is typically not host to characters with outstanding mobility or defenses, so this Ultimate stands out for that reason.

Answer: Strengthening its crowd control

Blast Off! causes the Knock Back effect to be enhanced by 30%. That said, the improvement is fairly redundant and unnecessary, as Land Mine already knocks back by quite a lot.

Answer: Movement Speed

Howitzer takes to the sky shortly before being able to fire salvos downward. He can still move as he does so, albeit at a slow rate. Combat Thrusters more than doubles Howitzer's movement speed during this time, which can be useful in trying to gun down enemies before they can make it to cover or other form of safety.

Answer: Attack Speed

If the player truly insists on playing Grim.exe but worse, this would be the Augment of choice. Howitzer's Basic Attack scaling remains poor, and enhancing its speed only offers a marginal overall improvement.

If the player wants to try a character who deals Magic damage and is Basic Attack focused, Grim.exe would be far better than Howitzer. Howitzer's main worth comes from his Abilities, rendering this Augment niche at best.
