"Predecessor" - Gadget Trivia Quiz

Gadget will spend the majority of the game, wherever she is being played, planting herself far away from the enemy, throwing things at them. This simple dynamic really allows Gadget to fit in just about any lane, though her terrible Basic Attack power and low Durability mean Carry and Jungle are above her pay grade.

Personally, most of my experience with Gadget has come playing her as a Support. Though not explicitly recommended by Omeda Studios, Gadget has a lot going for her in this role. She has a second target to throw things at, which will enhance her ability to gather stacks for her passive. She has one ability, Security Gate, which does a magnificant job defending her Carry, and she predominantly deals Magic damage.

Offlane is a possibility, though Gadget will definitely need to be played more conservatively in this lane than more traditional offlaners. She can definitely cause havoc for melee-centric characters from a distance, and can use Security Gate to elude many of them up close. The downside here is that Offlaners are generally expected to be tanky, which Gadget is not, so if using Gadget in this role, the Jungle player as well as the Support will want to strongly consider playing tanky characters to compensate.

Though Gadget's raw damage output can trail her midlane peers, it is loaded to the brim with utility to make up for it. Packing a Slow, a Root, a Speed Buff and plenty of ranged AoE damage, Gadget's Ability kit is primed to do battle.

While this might seem to suggest Gadget should scarcely use her Basic attack, this is actually far from the truth; unless in a heavily crowded area, a single Basic Attack should always follow up usage of Sticky Mine to enhance its power. Gadget will want to be throwing many, many, many Sticky Mines in the average match, so this will come up frequently.

Answer: Home in on nearby enemies

When thrown, the drone will fly for awhile before activating. Its flight path can be halted for immediate deployment if the player presses the Alternate Ability button a second time. If it is near any enemies, the drone will hover towards them and inflict them with a brief, gradually worsening damage ray that will also afflict them with Slow.

Answer: Enhances its power

Upon the Sticky Mine landing, whether on enemy or terrain, it will explode in two seconds. Within those two seconds, if the Gadget player hits the enemy with a Basic Attack, Sticky Mine's power will be sizeably increased.

Answer: Movement Speed

The speed buff is significant and, because enemies will be Rooted if they are hit by it, Security Gate is a wonderful, easy to use escape option. Notably, it is a strong escape option for both Gadget and teammates, so it will see a lot of use if Gadget is tasked with Support duties in particular.

Answer: It gradually grows in size

Tesla Dome's size will gradually increase by 600%, starting as being a small circle that a Hero could barely fit into, and eventually expanding to where it could easily fit everyone involved in a team fight. As well, heroes caught in Tesla Dome will be Slowed and have their Magic Armor shredded, so they will take more and more damage the longer they remain in the dome.

This will either force them to move and give Gadget a mighty zoning tool, or it will straight up kill them.

Answer: Sticky Mine

Unfortunately, the explosion radius is already fairly small, and since this buff is multiplicative, it is a fairly small enhancement. Definitely Gadget's weakest choice for an Augment.

Answer: Seek and Destroy

The homing speed improvement Auto-Lock Amp grants is significant, not only reducing the precision needed to properly use Seek and Destroy, but also generally allowing it to deal more damage and function as a faster, more efficient zoning tool. This is really strong for Support Gadget in particular, as she has two separate targets Seek and Destroy can eagerly home in on.

But it's hardly a bad fit for Gadget in general.

Answer: Security Gate

While the shield is a decent chunk of health, this Augment's one downside is that the buff duration is extremely pitiful, dissipating just after the Movement Speed buff. In theory, this Augment should be a slam dunk for Support Gadget to help protect her Carry with. And while it can accomplish this, the measly three seconds the shield lasts for make this difficult to achieve.
