Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does the formal boss encounter with The Duke's Dear Freja take place?

Answer: Brightstone Cove Tseldora

Freja is found directly at the end of the large, abandoned city, as deep down as the player can go underground past a hollowed mining company.
2. There are numerous NPC summons available to help the player for this one. Thankfully, all three of them are free of prerequisites and can be summoned by the player straight away. Who is one NPC summon available for this fight?

Answer: Manhunter O'Harrah

Manhunter O'Harrah is unique in that she does not possess a melee weapon. She will mainly take shots at enemies with her Alonne Greatbow, but if someone gets in her face, she will put it away and take out a one-handed Heavy Crossbow.

Clearly, she was not by any means intended to carry the player, instead aiming, literally and figuratively, to offer ranged damage support.

In addition to O'Harrah, Ashen Knight Boyd and Bashful Ray could accompany the player for this fight.
3. The Duke's Dear Freja is a huge spider with a bunch of small spiders who support her throughout the fight. The player could kill these smaller spiders, but if they don't want to go through that, they can actually scare the spiders away too. What item will allow the player to scare away smaller spiders?

Answer: Torch

Holding out and keeping a Torch actively equipped will make it so no small spiders wants to go anywhere near the player. Of course, this won't do anything to The Duke's Dear Freja directly, but it does make her easier to get safe hits in against, free of harassment from her spider minions.
4. Unlike other bosses, The Duke's Dear Freja can only be damaged on one part of her body. Which part?

Answer: Heads

Freja has two heads on opposite sides of her body. Either head can receive damage, but the rest of Freja is completely immune to any form of damage at all.
5. Hilariously enough, it is possible for the player to soft-lock themselves and make it impossible to defeat this boss without reloading and trying it again. One Pyromancy is responsible for this. Which Pyromancy is it?

Answer: Warmth

Warmth, when cast, will spawn a small orange orb that periodically heals everyone near it, friend or foe, and remains active for quite a long time.

It threatens to soft-lock this fight by healing the boss and eventually making Freja completely invincible. If the player deals enough damage to one of Freja's heads, it will fly off and force the player to go to the other head. If a head is knocked off, then the boss is healed through Warmth, and the other heads gets knocked off without fully depleting the entire boss health bar, the player has been soft-locked and cannot possibly win the fight.

Fortunately, the solution would be to simply quit out of the game, load back in, and start the fight over again. Still, the Pyromancy Warmth absolutely should ride the bench for this fight. It is the only spell in the game capable of healing enemies.
6. Curiously, despite being a Great One, the player does not immediately receive a Great Soul when defeating The Duke's Dear Freja. Where will they find this Great Soul?

Answer: In Freja's boss room

The process to retrieve it is very simple, as it is a manual drop found right in the center of the boss room. The player must ensure to actually pick it up though, or they will not be able to eventually open the Shrine of Winter through Primal Bonfires.
7. After Freja's boss room, curiously, a prominent NPC in the game's lore is found inside the Lord's Private Chamber. The Duke of Tseldora himself is found. Predictably, he isn't in the best condition. What has happened to the Duke of Tseldora here?

Answer: He has hollowed

The mastermind behind the creation of Freja, the aptly titled Duke of Tseldora is a mere hollow, like so, so many the player has slain before. He is meant to be killed here, and upon doing so, he will drop a Fragrant Branch of Yore, the Dark Quartz Ring +2 and the Tseldora Key.
8. Uniquely, The Duke's Dear Freja can actually appear to attack the player before her formal boss encounter, if and only if it is New Game Plus or higher. She ambushes the player right before the Chapel Threshold in Tseldora. Can the player kill her here?

Answer: No

After 35 seconds or upon reaching half health, The Duke's Dear Freja will flee and any damage dealt to her will count towards her formal boss encounter later. Hilariously enough, if the player uses cheats or modifies their software in a way where Freja could be killed here, it will actually completely corrupt their save and basically end their playthrough on the spot.

It's quite funny how this boss has a tendency to cause soft-lock situations.
9. The Soul of The Duke's Dear Freja yields two different spider themed weapons, the Spider's Silk thrusting sword and Spider's Fang curved sword. One of these weapons possesses a unique quality that lets the player shoot a spider web to slow down enemies. Which weapon can shoot out a spider web?

Answer: Spider's Fang

The Spider's Silk is relatively generic despite its impressive aesthetic design. However, it is unique for a thrusting sword in that it possess anti-shield properties with its two-handed strong attack, and it gets a pristine S scaling out of Dexterity to help it out too.

The Spider's Fang uniquely fires a spider web that doesn't do anything at all in PvE, instead slowing down enemy players in PvP. It does cost 10 Durability to do this, so the Bracing Knuckle Ring is highly advised for players who want to use this liberally.
10. If slain on New Game Plus or higher, The Duke's Dear Freja will now drop the Old Paledrake Soul. One of the rewards this Boss Soul can grant is the nucleic Crystal Soul Spear spell. The other reward, however, is one of the most iconic pieces of equipment in all of From Software history. What melee weapon can be obtained through the Old Paledrake Soul?

Answer: Moonlight Greatsword

The Moonlight Greatsword's roots with From Software date way, way back, far before the "Souls" franchise was even thought of, much less produced to critical acclaim. It debuted in 1993 when From Software developed the very first "King's Field" game, and it would go on to appear all over that franchise, the "Armored Core" franchise and, of course, the "SoulsBorne" franchise.

The weapon is pretty great in this game, with excellent Intelligence scaling and great base damage. It is probably at its least-incredible showing in this game compared to the rest of "Souls", but it's still very strong all the same.
